Race 5: Woollam Constructions Class 4 Handicap – 1050m

Trainer J. Lewis reported to stewards that PERMISSION GRANTED pulled up with muscle soreness, for which the gelding had been treated.

Late Riding Changes:

When Jockey A. Pattillo was to be overweight and unable to fulfil his engagements for PATTO’S GIRL in Race 2 and JAXTER’S BALLET in Race 5, App. B. Swaffer was substituted as the rider of PATTO’S GIRL as no other suitable senior ride was available, and Jockey J. Felix was substituted as the rider of JAXTER’S BALLET. Subsequently Jockey Pattillo was fined $200 under A.R. 120(b).

Race 1: - www.townsvilleturfclub.com.au Maiden Plate – 1300 metres
1st – ALDREN 2nd – DR STRANGELOVE 3rd – VENCEREMOS 4th – GRAUMAN

The start was delayed when SLEEP ON IT (D. Simmons) raised its off hind leg up onto the barrier partition on two occasions, was inspected by the Club’s veterinary surgeon on each occasion and cleared to take its place in the field. SLEEP ON IT began very awkwardly and lost considerable ground, then in the early stages was reluctant to stretch out. Trainer J. Campeao was advised that a warning will be placed on the barrier and racing manners of SLEEP ON IT.

GRAUMAN (W. D’Avila) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 1000 metres SOLE SURVIVOR (T. Bannon) commenced to over-race and near
the 800 metres improved onto the heels of VENCEREMOS (S. Pawsey) and had to be steadied.

ALDREN (P. Cullen) and CASINOJEAN (App. J. Kuskopf) raced wide throughout.

MANUMIT (App. J. Orman) lost its off fore plate in running.

A post-race veterinary examination of PRIME SEQUAL (A. Pattillo), which compounded in the home straight, revealed that the gelding had sustained a superficial puncture wound over the left medial cannon.

Race 2: - Join The TTC 100 Club Now Class 1 Handicap – 1300 Metres
1st – ALITTLEBITOFDUEY 2nd - PRESSUM 3rd – PATTO’S GIRL 4th – CHARLIE’S LASS

As the start was effected GLOUCESTER STORM (F. Edwards) reared and lost ground.

LOOK AT CHU (App. J. Orman) and RUM RATION (J. Felix) were slow to begin.

On jumping PATTO’S GIRL (App. B. Swaffer) was tightened for room between CHARLIE’S LASS (S. Pawsey) and BIGGS (W. D’Avila), which was taken out by ARTIVA (A. Spinks), which shifted out.

Approaching the 1000 metres GLOUCESTER STORM commenced to over-race and improved onto the heels of STAR SPRAY (App. S. Fawke) and had to be checked.

Near the 900 metres STAR SPRAY had to be restrained to avoid the heels of ARTIVA, which shifted in. Jockey A. Spinks was reprimanded and advised to show greater care when shifting ground.

RUM RATION (J. Felix) raced wide throughout.

App. J. Kuskopf reported to stewards that shortly after the start the saddle on SANDBAR JACK shifted back, placing her at a disadvantage throughout the race.

Stewards questioned Jockey T. Bannon as to the tactics adopted on ALITTLEBITOFDUEY compared with its most recent start. Jockey Bannon said that on that occasion it was her intention to lead on the gelding, however after being slow to begin she was unable to do so as she was of the opinion that ALITTLEBITOFDUEY is better suited when able to lead. Jockey Bannon added that today the gelding began well, was able to lead comfortably and finished the race off well. Trainer M. Bannon confirmed the instructions given to Jockey Bannon today and at the horse’s previous starts, along with the comments made by Jockey Bannon. Mr Bannon added that it has always been the intention to ride gelding in a forward position, however the gelding’s racing manners have not always allowed this to happen. Whilst stewards noted the explanations, Mr Bannon was advised that a horse of the experience of ALITTLEBITOFDUEY would be expected to establish a more consistent racing pattern.

Race 3: - www.skyracing.com.au QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – DAYTONA ROAD 2nd – JACSAID 3rd RED CHEVY COUPE 4th – ZAHMATA OF HONOUR

DENIS THE DUDE (A. Pattillo) began very awkwardly and lost considerable ground.

LATEST EDITION (S. Pawsey) shifted in shortly after the start and made heavy contact with MOLONGLE DAWN (F. Edwards), which became unbalanced.

Shortly after the start GENTLY GUIDED (M. Usher) shifted outwards and made contact with SHEZA DELIKA CI (D. Simmons).

Leaving the 350 metres DENIS THE DUDE shifted out and made contact with DRAGON ACE, which was forced wider on the track.

Leaving the 200 metres GENTLY GUIDED, which was racing greenly, shifted in and away from DRAGON ACE , which shifted in slightly and became awkward on the heels of ILLUSIONS (G. Kliese), which shifted out slightly and had to be restrained.

For the majority of the event SHEZA DELIKA CI (D. Simmons) raced ungenerously. Trainer J. Campeao was advised that a warning will be placed on the filly’s racing manners.

CRAIGLEA FOCUS ((App. S. Fawke) and DRAGON ACE (App. J. Orman) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 4: – Follow Andrew Bensley On Twitter Class 2 Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – KINGS ROAD 2nd – STORM IN A RAINBOW 3rd – KISS ME QUICK 4th – MADE IN AMERICA

THE RUSTLA was a late scratching at 2.20 p.m. due to a misunderstanding which led to the gelding being incorrectly plated for today’s race. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer R. Henderson and no further action was taken.

CARE TO SHARE (D. Simmons) and CROTCHET (G. Kliese), which were initially slow to begin, were tightened for room shortly after the start between KISS ME QUICK (App. J. Orman), which was taken in by TULLAGRIE PRINCE (P. Cullen) and COURT AFFAIRE (J. Felix), which was taken out by STORM IN A RAINBOW (A. Spinks).

MADE IN AMERICA (App. B. Swaffer) was slow to begin.

SHOTGUN BOOGIE (App. S. Wiseman) and TALCUM (S Pawsey) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 5: – Like The TTC on Facebook Class 6 Plate – 1400 metres
1st – STRATO MOSTRO 2nd – FAINT PRAISE 3rd – CASTLE EXPRESS 4th – SECRET STEALTH

BELLASPIRIT was a late scratching, at 12.50 p.m., by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the mare was lame in the off foreleg. Trainer A. Molino

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey A. Spinks, the rider of CASTLE EXPRESS to view the official video films to determine whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against FAINT PRAISE (A. Coome) being declared second. Having done so, Jockey Spinks elected not to lodge a protest and stewards declared correct weight on the judge’s numbers.

NATE (T. Bannon) began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with KOOLASACAT (App. S. Wiseman), which was also slow to begin.

In the early and middle stages SECRET STEALTH (D. Hayse) and CASTLE EXPRESS (A. Spinks) over-raced.

Jockey T. Bannon, the rider of NATE which raced ungenerously for the majority of the event, advised stewards that in her opinion the gelding resented the tongue-tie. Trainer M. Geaney informed stewards that he would monitor the progress of the gelding with the intention to leave the tongue-tie on as part of its approved gear. As such he was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s racing manners.

Race 6: – Sky Racing BenchMark 75 Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – QUEEN THYRA 2nd – RHYTHM ‘N’ RAP 3rd – SEEK DE FORTUNE 4th – SHADOW LINE

The start was delayed when DEHERE HUNTER (App. J. Orman) proved difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer W. Kenning was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.

BLEACHING (D. Hayse) and STEEL DRAGON (App. S. Fawke) were slow to begin.

DEHERE HUNTER (App. J. Orman), which was slow to begin, then raced wide throughout the event and hung out rounding the home turn, shifting wider.

Stewards questioned Jockey T. Bannon as to her riding of KNUTE, particularly from the 400 metres to the winning post. Jockey Bannon stated that she was concerned when BLEACHING (D. Hayse), which was racing to her inside, and DEHERE HUNTER, which was racing to her outside, shifted ground and she was placed in an awkward position at their heels and she was reluctant to drive into that run, which did close as she was approaching the winning post. Whilst stewards noted her explanation, nonetheless they advised Jockey Bannon that when a run presents itself in similar circumstances, they would expect more of an effort by her to improve into such a run.

When questioned as to the performance of DEHERE HUNTER, trainer W. Kenning was at a loss to explain the performance and was disappointed. A post-race veterinary examination of DEHERE HUNTER did not reveal any abnormalities.

Race 7: - Magic Millions QTIS Sales 17-18 March BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st – MY KING OATH 2nd – FLAG FAVOURITE 3rd – ZIP THE LIP 4th – PINK ‘N’ BLUE

The start was delayed when EIREANN (App. B. Swaffer) became fractious in the barriers. The mare was removed from the barriers, examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

BARBUDA (G. Kliese) and SCIROCCO SAN (App. S. Fawke) were slow to begin.

Leaving the 300 metres MY KING OATH (P. Cullen) was momentarily held up for clear running.
Approaching the 200 metres FLAG FAVOURITE (T. Bannon) shifted out to obtain clear running around the heels of SCIROCCO SAN, which shifted out slightly and in doing so made heavy contact with THIRTY THREE LARGE (App. N.
