As riders D. Simmons and L. Attard were unable to ride at today’s meeting due to related weather conditions replacements were made as per Stewards summary.   
 
Cairns Saturday 25 March 2017 Race 4 Big Boyz Binz Open H’Cap
 
Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the nomination and scratching of The Bees Knees at the Cairns Jockey Club on Saturday 25 March 2017. Trainer S. Cooper was found guilty of a charge under LR38 which reads: A person shall not nominate or declare a horse an acceptor or cause to be nominated or declared an acceptor for a race with the sole purpose of affecting the number of horses available for the race. The specfics of the charge being Mr Cooper nominated and accepted for The Bees Knees in the Big Boyz Binz Open H’Cap whilst that horse had not been in his care, had not been worked or prepared for racing and was at a spelling complex for the period prior to nomination, upto and following acceptance time after which time the mare was scratched with no rider being declared. Mr Cooper was fined the sum of $500.00

IRISH HEART – Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
Race 2: XXXX Gold BenchMark 65 H'cap – 1609M
 
MASTER AVATAR – Over-raced earl and middle stages of the race.
 
TRY ME DOL – Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
 
Race 3: Marry Me@Townsville Turf Club Class 6 H'cap – 1000M 
 
SHADOWOFYOURSMILE – Began awkwardly and threw its head in the air.
 
TUSCAN FALL – Took an awkward stride shortly after the start and blundered.
 
CONCLUDER – Had a tendency hang out in the early and middle stages of the race and when placed under pressure entering the home straight commenced to hang in from the 300m until approaching the 200m. 
 
Race 4: TSVL Winter Carnival 15th - 29th July Benchmark 70 H'cap – 1200m 
 
RAMSDEN STREET – Slow into stride. Rider N. Yadi was fined the sum of $300.00 in that he used excessive whip on the gelding prior to the 100m.
 
EFFIGY BELLE – Checked near the 1000m when tightened for room by another runner.
 
WINDMILL LANE – Shifted in near the 1000m inconveniencing another runner. Rider A. Thomson was found guilty to a charge of careless riding that near the 1000m she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting inwards when not clear of EFFIGY BELLE which was checked and lost its position, Ms Thomson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 4 April 2017 and to expire midnight 12 April 2017. 
 
Race 5: Host An Event @ Townsville Turf Club QTIS 3YO Maiden H’Cap - 1000m 
 
SUPERLINER – Slow to begin.
 
MAGNITUDE LAD – Began awkwardly and shifted in hampering another runner.
 
CRAIGLEA JAZZ – Began awkwardly and was then hampered by another runner which shifted in.
 
LIBERO – Lay out near the 600m and was steadied. 
 
HARVEST PRIDE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race.  
NEED FINANCE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 6: Canadian Club F & M Class 1 H'cap – 1000m 
 
NEW CALEDONIA – Began awkwardly.
 
IZZY’S KEEPER – Began awkwardly.
 
FRENCH AMOUR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
DELTA MAGIC – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 7: Visit Cluden Park North Qld C,G & E Class 1 H’Cap – 1000m
 
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer L. Ashford in regards to the late scratching of LADY DRUMMER at 7.32am.
 
Stewards permitted the replacement apprentice riders for SERIOUSLY HAPPY (A. Thomson) and RAINING DOLLARS (Q. Krogh) when no suitable senior riders were available.    
 
RAINING DOLLARDS – Slow to begin.
 
I WANNA BREAK FREE – Began awkwardly. Repeatedly bumped for a short distance leaving the 800m. Raced in restricted room near the 750m.
 
SNAPPY LEGEND – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SAN VITTORIO – Shifted in and away from another runner leaving the 800m repeatedly bumping with another runner. Severely checked near the 750m when tightened for room.
 
SERIOUSLY HAPPY – Rider A. Thomson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 750m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SAN VITTORIO which was severely checked and taken in placing I WANNA BREAK FREE in restricted room. Ms Thomson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 15 days to be served concurrently with her previous suspension incurred earlier to commence midnight 4 April and to expire midnight 19 April 2017.
 
Stewards inquired into an incident that happened in the scales area following the running of the race. Subsequently rider P. Cullen pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct under AR175 (q) which reads:The Principal Racing Authority (or the Stewards exercising powers delegated to them) may penalise; (q) Any person who in their opinion is guilty of any misconduct, improper conduct or unseemly behaviour.
 
The specifics being that in the vicinety of the scales area he approached Ms A. Thomson in an aggressive manner verbally abusing Ms Thomson and pushing her causing her to become unbalanced. P. Cullen’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of one calander month to commence midnight 9 April 2017 upto and including midnight 8 May 2017.
