QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOWNSVILLE, TUESDAY, 4 APRIL 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – 7M 1000M-WP,TRUE REMAINDER PENETROMETER – 4.2 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Warren Race 1: WWW.Townsvilleturf Club.com.au F&M Maiden H'cap - 1200m The start of this race was delayed to allow an interstate race to be completed. CATHEDRAL CITY – Began awkwardly and shifted out, hampering another runner. PRINCESS TORIO – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn before shifting back to the inside to obtain clear running in the early part of the straight. TIBYAAN – Began awkwardly. Race 2: Canadian Club QRIS 2yo H'cap – 1200m CRAIGLEA TICKER- Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight between ZULU TUK and GENERAL CHEVAL, which shifted out slightly under pressure. GENERAL CHEVAL – Shifted out slightly under pressure near the 300m, inconveniencing another runner. CRAIGLEA CETINA – Began awkwardly and shifted out, making heavy contact with another runner. Then continued to race very ungenerously before eased out of the race leaving the 700m. Trainer K. Johnston was advised that the filly must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again. CRAIGLEA VELVET – Slow to begin, then was heavily bumped by another runner, which shifted out, losing ground. Race 3: Become A Member @ TSVL Turf Club CG&E Maiden H'cap – 1200m MIGHTY MEERKAT – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. A short distance after the start attempted to buck. Trainer M. Geaney was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again. MEAL TICKET – Kicked by another runner behind the barrier. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. SOUTHO SATURDAY – Slow to begin. MACCA’S HEART – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running for the majority of the home straight until leaving the 50m where it shifted outwards and finished the race off strongly. GUNGA GALUNGA – Began awkwardly. SAINTLY ROYLE – Due to a misprint in the race book where it was stated the gelding raced in blinkers, this was incorrect and the horse raced without blinkers as per its advertised racing gear. Laid in under pressure near the 150m, having to be steadied. TWICE THE STYLE – Shifted ground when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: The Mater Health Services Class 6 Plate – 1400m GLAMORGAN BABE – Slow to begin. When questioned into the tactics adopted in today’s race, rider P. Cullen explained it was not his intention to lead, however after being slow to begin and being allowed to stride forward, the mare found the lead easily when there was no pace in the race. His explanation was noted. BELORUM – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Forced wider in the home straight by another runner. GO BY RIO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: TSVL Winter Carnival 15th-29th July Class 1 H'cap – 1400m CRAIGLEA ZING – Began awkwardly. SEEKTOWIN – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race. DANE SLUGGER – Over-raced in the middle stages of the race. MOONLIT CLOUD – Commenced to over-race in the middle stages and was restrained near the 800m. Race 6: Join The TSVL Turf Club 100 Open H'cap – 1200m FOREST WAY – Steadied when crowded for room shortly after the start. Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the event. HORACIO – Improved onto heels leaving the 800m and was steadied. MISHANI GLADIATOR – Unable to obtain clear running from entering the home straight and until leaving the 100m. CRAIGLEA DEKEN – Raced 3 wide for the majority of the race. Race 7: Cold Beer, Great Mates TVL Club Class 3 Plate – 1200m KAYLEE – Shown in the race book as not wearing blinkers, which was incorrect, and the mare raced in blinkers, as per its advertised race gear worn at its previous start. Began awkwardly. Lost its off fore plate in running. DEE MINISHING – Began awkwardly. Put in an awkward stride near the 800m and became unbalanced. PERFECTLY SWEET – Raced wide in the early stages. MISS HAVISHAM – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. LINE BREAKER – Restrained near the 800m and shifted wider to avoid the heels of another runner. Shifted out near the 300m, inconveniencing another runner. Rider. G. Kliese was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. DAZZLING PRIDE – Shifted in near the 800m, making contact with the running rail and shifted wider on the track, inconveniencing another runner.
