Due to a technical error the following horses failed to show their correct gear in the race book. These were not gear changes and the horses raced in their correct advertised gear.

RAMSDEN STREET – Began awkwardly and shifted in, inconveniencing another runner.
 
CARLINO’S WAY – Crowded for room on jumping away. Commenced to overrace leaving the 1300m and raced 3 wide without cover from that point onwards.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 2:  TSVL Winter Racing Carnival 15th-29th July Maiden Plate – 1200m 
 
SOME SUNNYDAY – Kicked by another runner behind the barriers.  Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
CZARIST – The start was delayed when the gelding proved difficult to load. Trainer Z. Hohn was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.  Began awkwardly. Hung in in the early stages of the race.
 
MACCA’S HEART – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ROTHESAY SPECIAL – Was ridden hard from the wide barrier to assume a position outside the leader shortly after the start.
 
MONASHEE LASS – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority  of the race.
 
SEK LOSO – Raced wide for the majority  of the race.
 
 
Race 3:  XXXX Gold QTIS 2yo Maiden H'cap – 1000m 
 
RIVER BOY – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer R. Vale for the late declaration of rider for the horse.  Shifted out at the start, bumping another runner. Shifted out under pressure approaching the winning post, forcing TIME FOR LILLI wider,  which inconvenienced GOLDEN GUARDIAN.  A. Butler, rider of RIVER BOY, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
EVENING BELL – Slow to begin.
 
TIME FOR LILLI – Bumped on jumping, became unbalanced and shifted in, bumping another runner.  Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
INSTANT LUKE – Shifted in at the start, bumping another runner.
 
ELITE JET – Bumped at the start by another runner.
 
CRAIGLEA NIKITA – Raced 5 wide for the majority of the race with no cover.
 
GENERAL CHEVAL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GOLDEN GUARDIAN – Rider Q. Krogh reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang in for the majority of the race. Bumped by another runner at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Restrained from heels shortly after passing the winning post.
 
 
 
 
Race 4:  UBET BenchMark 60 H'cap - 1000m 
 
PRELUSIVE STRIKE – Disappointed for a run approaching the 200m and had to be steadied. Was then unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the race and went to the post without being fully tested.
 
DANCETIME – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
KENNYNOPAS – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
CHAT TIME – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, trainer A. Payne stated that he was of the opinion the mare may have come to the end of her preparation and will now give consideration to the horse being spelled.  A post-race veterinary examination of the horse failed to reveal any abnormality.
 
 
Race 5:  Townsville Vet Clinic Open H'cap – 1400m 
 
HOT SAGA – Bounded in the air at the start and lost ground.
 
OKAY SWIFT – Slow to begin.
 
ROWEINER – Bounded in the air at the start.
 
GO BY RIO – Shifted out to obtain clear running rounding the home turn and in  doing so forced CRAIGLEA DEKEN wider on the track.  Apprentice Q. Krogh, rider of GO BY RIO, was advised to show more care in similar circumstances.  Was momentarily steadied near the 200m to avoid the heels of another runner, which shifted in.
 
CRAIGLEA DEKEN – Forced wider rounding the home turn. Shifted in near the 200m, inconveniencing another runner.  Jockey A. Coome, rider of CRAIGLEA DEKEN, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
 
Race 6:  Coast To Country Hearing Solutions QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1000m 
 
MY GIRL’S A DRAGON – As Apprentice A. Thomson was indisposed, apprentice Z. White was substituted as the rider of the horse. A. Thomson was advised she must provide a medical clearance prior to her next race ride.
 
EVERY FRIDAY – Dislodged its rider during the preliminary. After travelling a short distance was quickly recaptured, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. Apprentice Cass had a seemingly harmless fall and declared herself fit to fulfil her engagement. Bumped at the start by another runner. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
WE JUST LOVE IT – Slow to begin.
 
RICHTER SCALE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CRAIGLEA GHETTO – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping another runner.  Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
NEW CALEDONIA – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping another runner.
 
OURBOYBYRON – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
 
 
Race 7:  Ritzco Homes Open H'cap – 1000m 
 
EXECUTED – Bumped at the start. Checked near the 600m when tightened for room by another runner.
 
MAURIZIO – Blundered at the start. Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
CLEAVER – Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, rider Q. Krogh stated that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight and, in his opinion, was disappointing. Trainer T. Butts explained that whilst he was not entirely disappointed with the horse’s performance, he was of the opinion that the gelding would be suited to longer distances than that of today’s event. Stewards noted his explanation.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
SPORTING PAGE – Steadied approaching the 650m when the pace slackened and overraced for a short distance, and then near the 600m shifted out and bumped another runner.
 
PERFECT KNOWLEDGE – Disappointed for a run near the 200m before shifting wider on the track to obtain clear running, and then finished the race off strongly.
 
ROYAL PHYSICIAN – Rider B. Stower pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a), in that near the 600m she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount shifting in when insufficiently clear of EXECUTED, which was  checked and lost its rightful running.  Ms Stower’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight, 27 April 2017 up to and including 5 May 2017.
 
Race 8:  Global Welding Supplies Class 6 Plate – 1200m 
 
GOLD CUFFLINKS – Slow to begin.
 
THURSTON – Began awkwardly. Restrained near the 800m when racing in restricted room.  Improved onto heels near the 700m and was restrained and then raced ungenerously for a short distance. Disappointed for a run approaching the winning post and was steadied.
 
LINE BREAKER  - Slow to begin.
 
FOUR JAYS – Overraced in the middle stages.
