Race 5: Whitsunday Cup BenchMark 55 Handicap
 
BEYOND - Rider D.Sparks pleaded guilty to a charge under A.R. 137Ain that he used his whip in an excessive manner prior to the100 metres. Jockey Sparks was fined $200.

GENERAL:
 
Due to technical errors, blinkers did not appear in the Race Book for a number of runners which were not gear changes: Race 5, BOMBER MISS. Race 6, MORE THAN A SONG (VISOR) Race 7, SPACE TIME. Race 7: ROCK SPUR. HARCOURT STREET.
 
Rider M. Murphy was fined $200 under the provisions of 160B (3) in that he had in his possession in the Jockeys' Room an electronic device capable of connecting to the Internet.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 1: www.townsvilleturfclub.com.au Maiden Handicap - 1300 metres
 
A TOUCH OF BLING - Slow to begin.
 
PURSUITOFHAPPINESS - Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages and shifted ground.
 
FREE PRESS - Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages and near the 800m attempted a doubtful run and had to be checked.
 
SAGALETZ CI - Raced wide for the majority of the race. Hung out leaving the 500m, shifted wider on the track rounding the home turn. Trainer J. Campeao was advised that the mare must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
 
Race 2: TSV Winter Racing carnival 15-29 July QTIS 2-Years-Old Handicap - 1000 metres
 
SPECIAL STYLE - Slow to begin.
 
CRAIGLEA AIRLIE - Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
GREY MISSILE - Rider Q. Krogh dropped his whip near the 50m.
 
Race 3: www.parkinsonsqld.org.au QTIS 3-Years-Old Handicap - 1200 metres
 
CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY - Rider J. Felix advised stewards that the gelding had a tendency to hang out for the majority of the race.
 
CHIC SOX - Had to be steadied from heels near the 450m from another runner which raced ungenerously and shifted in.
 
OURBOYBYRON - Raced ungenerously near the 450m, placing another runner in restricted room. Apprentice E. Cass, in the presence of her representative trainer F. Wieland, pleaded guilty   to a charge of careless riding under A.R.137(a) in that she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent OURBOYBYRONfrom shifting out near the 400m, forcing HARVEST PRIDE (P. Cullen) out across the heels of CRAIGLEA GHETTO (Q. Krogh), clipping that horse's heels and blundering. Apprentice Cass licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence at midnight 17 June 2017 and to expire midnight 28 June 2017.
 
HARVEST PRIDE - Clipped heels and was checked near the 400m.
 
EVERY FRIDAY - Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: TSV Winter Carnival  Onsale Now BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1609 metres
 
CORONATION JOURNEY - Delayed the start when its tongue-tie became dis-placed and had to be replaced.
 
BLU AXIS - Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Rider E. Cass was fined $100 under A.R. 145 for returning to scale more than half a kilogram above her allotted weight.
 
ALDREN - Restrained near the 300m when placed in restricted room.
BETTER FUTURE - Slow to begin, over-raced in the early and middle stages, and shifted wider. Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 300m and inconvenienced another runner. Rider Q. Krogh was severely reprimanded.
 
GAINSFORD - Over-raced in the middle stages. Shifted in near the 300m, placing runners to its    inside in restricted room. Rider P. Cullen was severely reprimanded.
 
INTIMATE KINGDOM - Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
BLU AXIS - Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ASSERTIVE LOVE - Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the race.
 
Race 5: TSV Parkinson's Support Group Class 5 Handicap - 1200 metres
 
SUNNY CHIEF - Began awkwardly.
 
BOMBER MISS - Shifted out at the start and hampered another runner.
 
SNAPPY LEGEND - Bumped by another runner at the start.
 
HILARIOUS HONOUR - Blundered on jumping and lost ground.
 
I'LL TAKE THE JAG - Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on straightening until near the 200m.
 
KOLONGA - Delayed the start when it was discovered that the mare had blood present in its offside nostril. A veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had a scratch inside its nostril, and it was cleared to start. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
AROUND THE MOON – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
MARK'S LEGACY - Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 6: Buy TIX@whatson.Townsville.qld.gov.au Open Handicap - 1000 metres
 
CLEAVER - Slow to begin.
 
RIVARIVA - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CANNY AND THE JET - Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 7: Parkinson's In This Together Class 1 Handicap - 1000 metres
 
IMPERIAL BELLE - Slow to begin. Severely checked near the 700m.
 
TWICE THE STYLE – Restrained when crowded for room and shifted in, crowding other runners near the 700m.
 
LIKER - Checked near the 700m when placed in restricted room.
 
SPACE TIME - Checked near the 700m when crowded for room. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
DANCETIME - Checked near the 700m when placed in restricted room. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ROCK SPUR - Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
WONDERFUL TALE - Had a tendency to lay in near the 700m. Crowded for room and shifted in leaving the 700m.
 
AMAHERO - Blundered on jumping. Shifted in and crowded other runners near the 700m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RENEGADE RUBY - Disappointed for a run near the 250m and had to be restrained and shift wider.
 
HARCOURT STREET – Apprentice A. Thomson in the presence of her representative, senior rider G. Kiese, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 700m she permitted her mount to continually shift in and dictate the running of WONDERFUL TALE (M. Murphy), which shifted in and crowded SPACE TIME (G. Kliese) which, when taken in, was checked and placed TWICE THE STYE (J. Felix) in restricted room, which when being restrained shifted in and tightened the running of CRAIGLEA MISSION(B. Grylls), which was checked, resulting in IMPERIAL BELLE (M. Haley) which was following, improving onto that runner's heels and being severely checked. In this incident LIKER (F. Edwards), which was following, was checked and shifted out crowding DANCETIME (W. D’Avila) which was also checked when simultaneously crowded for room by AMAHERO, which shifted in slightly. In considering penalty, stewards took into account the racing manners of WONDERFUL TALE, which had a tendency to lay in at that stage of the race, and her guilty plea. Ms Thomson was suspended from riding in races for a period of 11 days, to commence at midnight on 17th June 2017, up to midnight on 28th June 2017.  
 
FORGIVE ME - Apprentice E. Cass was fined $100 under A.R.145 in that she returned to scale more than half a kilogram above her allotted weight.
