SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT:
Stewards spoke with Trainer G Dickson on Wednesday June 21st in relation to the performance of COUNTESS MIA which had raced below market expectations the previous day in race 5, the Class 3 Plate at Townsville. Mr Dickson advised that although COUNTESS MIA had sustained a minor laceration to the near hind leg in running, there were no other significant abnormalities and he was of the opinion that the mare did not back up from it’s previous hard first up run on June 1st following a 6 month spell. Mr Dickson’s explanation was noted.

GENERAL:
Due to technical errors, blinkers did not appear in the Race Book for a number of runners: Race 1: KIRABO, DECODED, ETRANGERE. Race 2: FLYING ONE. Race 3: CLEVFILLY - Visor Race 5: SWEET SODA POP - Blinkers back on. Race 6: CRAIGLEA CRUZ, GOLDEN METEOR.

Race 1: TSV Winter Carnival Buy TIX Now BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1000 metres

SERGEANT SHRIVER - Slow to begin.

KENNYNOPAS - Slow to begin.

KIRABO - Began awkwardly.

CRAIGLEA MISSION - Began awkwardly, shifted in leaving the 300 metres and bumped DECODED, became unbalanced and shifted out, making heavy contact with LIKER, which also became unbalanced. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the race.

DECODED - Bumped by another runner leaving the 300 metres. Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

LIKER - Leaving the 300 metres bumped heavily by another runner and became unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 2: Hygain Tracktorque BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1200 metres

CLEAVER - Slow to begin.

EFFIGY BELLE - Blundered badly on jumping.

BRAVE BOW - Slow to begin. Improved onto heels near the 800m when the pace slackened and was restrained. Checked near the 200m when attempting a doubtful run to the inside of EFFIGY BELLE. Rider Q. Krogh pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that leaving the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of PERFECT KNOWLEDGE (Apprentice J. Woodhouse), causing that runner to be checked and lose its rightful running. Apprentice Krogh's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, to commence at midnight 1st July 2017 up to and including midnight 11th July 2017.

PERFECT KNOWLEDGE - Checked leaving the 900 metres when tightened for room. Restrained from heels near the 800m when the pace slackened.

SUNSET IN NEW YORK - Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ELEMENT OF CHANCE - Stewards spoke with Trainer F Wieland in relation to the improved performance of the gelding. Mr Wieland stated that the horse had previously performed well when returning from a spell and had pleased him leading up to today’s event, and he was expecting a forward performance. Stewards noted his explanation.

Race 3: Become a TTC Member Class 3 Plate - 1400 metres

SAN VITTORIO - Slow to begin.

CLEVFILLY - Slow to begin.

BETTER FUTURE - Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages. Near the 500m bumped by another runner. When questioned about the disappointing performance of the gelding, Jockey G. Kliese stated that after being slow to begin his mount raced further back than he had anticipated, then travelled well in the middle stages however failed to run on. Jockey Kliese said that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated today's firm track surface, nonetheless was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

LE CHIFFRE - Over-raced in the middle stages.

SPACE TIME - Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 500 metres and hampered another runner.

FLYING IGGY - Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.

Race 4: Hygain Microspeed 2-Y-O Classic Prelude Handicap - 1200 metres

GREY MISSILE - Became cast in the float enroute to the course. Stewards acting on veterinary advice ordered the late scratching of the colt at 12.50p.m. Trainer R. Chillemi was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior the colts next run.

LOOK TO HEAVEN - Tightened for room at the start.

ALL GIRLS ROCK - Tightened for room at the start.

GOLDEN GUARDIAN - Began awkwardly and shifted outwards.

MOLONGLE FLYER - Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested.

STUDMAN - Slow to begin.

CRAIGLEA WEAPON - Slow to begin. Shifted in and inconvenienced another runner near the 900 metres. Rider W. D'Avila was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to keep his mounts straight.

SAMBA RIO - Slow to begin.

LONGING FOR - Had to be steadied near the 900 metres when placed in restricted room to the inside of CRAIGLEA WEAPON.

CRAIGLEA CETINA - Raced ungenerously near the 900 metres and threw its head in the air. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

CRAIGLEA NIKITA - Slow to begin. Hung in shortly after the start, then raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 5: #Catchuatcluden QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap - 1300 metres

SWEET SODA POP - Slow to begin.

SIMPLY MARVELLOUS - Slow to begin.

MISC - Slow to begin and raced wide for the majority of the event.

CHIC SOX - Blundered on jumping.

BANSHEE JET - Began very awkwardly, shifted inwards and made very heavy contact with another runner.

CRAIGLEA MERCEDES - Bumped heavily by another runner at the start and became unbalanced. Performed poorly and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Connections were advised that the colt must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.

MASON'S CHANCE - Shifted in near the 900 metres, placing CRAIGLEA GHETTO (Jockey W. D'Avila) in restricted room. Jockey C. Jokic was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care in, similar circumstances.

CRAIGLEA GHETTO - Raced in restricted room near the 900 metres and was steadied.

JOHANTEE - Raced wide for the majority of the race.

HARVEST PRIDE - Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 6: TSV Winter Carnival 15-29th July Weight For Age - 1000 metres

ACCIDENTAL - Slow to begin.

TYZONE - Began awkwardly and shifted inwards, inconveniencing runners to its inside.

POWER SUPPLY - Tightened for room at the start.

GOLDEN METEOR - Tightened for room at the start and raced in restricted room for a short distance afterwards.

LADY SIOUX - Began awkwardly and shifted outwards, hampering other runners.

ROYAL PHYSICIAN - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Hung out for the majority of the race and proved difficult to ride out.

NEVETUS - Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ONE BAR NONE - Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 7: Hygain Release North Qld Cup Open Handicap - 1609 metres

HOT SAGA - Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure near the 200m, placing runners to its inside in restricted room. Jockey G. Kliese was advised to make a greater effort to keep his mounts straight in similar circumstances.

GO BY RIO - Had a tendency to over-race in the middle stages and hung out rounding the home turn.

RANKED - Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 200 metres when attempting a narrow run.

MASTER AVATAR - Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 200 metres.
