GENERAL:
After hearing a complaint lodged by Licensed Stablehand Ms T. Clark, against Apprentice A. Thonson, Ms Thomson pleaded guilty to a charge under A.R. 175(q) in that she conducted herself in a threatening manner towards Ms Clark. Apprentice Thomson was fined $200.
SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT - Townsville Thursday 27th July 2017:
Race 3: Townsville Bulletin BenchMark 65 Handicap 1609m:
OH YEAH - Trainer Mr J. Manzelmann advised stewards that the gelding had injured its off fore tendon and has been retired from racing.
GEAR CHANGES - Due to technical errors Blinkers were not shown in the Race Book for a number of runners. Race 2 FLYING IGGY (Visor for first occasion), RACE 2 – I AM BRUCE; RACE 3 - CHANGING NOTES, RAMSDEN STREET. RACE 4: PINYARDA, BOMBER MISS, CHEERING. RACE 5: ETRANGERE. RACE 6; ROYAL SUPREME, OOSTHUIZEN - Visor, RACE 7 - FASTNET FLYER, CHIVADAHLII, CHESTNUT ROAD. RACE 8 - GOLDEN METEOR.
RACE 1: Bank of Queensland QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap - 1300 metres
WE'LL BEAT IT - Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer B. Williams for Jockey G. Kliese instead of Jockey C. Whiteley being declared as the rider of the gelding.
SPECIAL STYLE - Slow to begin.
NASTY GAL - Slow to begin.
ELITE JET - Bumped at the start. Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
ZULU TUK - Raced wide for the majority of the event.
SAMBA RIO - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner.
CRAIGLEA NIKITA - Over-raced in the early stages.
RACE 2: - Mater Sports Medicine BenchMark 55 Handicap - 1609 metres
THE PRINCIPAL - Slow to begin. Disappointed for a run approaching the 200m and was steadied.
CORONATION JOURNEY - Slow to begin.
BEYOND - Began awkwardly.
RESET EXPRESS - Raced wide in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding today, rider A. Butler stated that it was not his intention to lead on the horse, however with the nose band being taken off today the horse was inclined to race strongly in the early and middle stages, and therefore he allowed RESET EXPRESS to improve forward. Stewards noted the explanation.
ROMANOV - Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
ISLAND BAR - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
SAPODILLA - Raced wide for the majority of the event.
RACE 3: Wilson, Ryan, Grose Lawyers Up & Coming Stayers BenchMark 65 Handicap - 2000 metres
TURN UP THE VOLUME – Prior to the race trainer T. Rowe advised Stewards that it was the intention to lead on the gelding, if possible. The horse was ridden accordingly.
ALDREN - Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until near the 100m.
KHADIJA - Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight and was steadied near the 200m.
DUDOOMP - Slow to begin.
EXTRA COVER - Raced ungenerously leaving the 500m and in the early part of the straight. Shifted in near the 350m and inconvenienced another runner.
RAMSDEN STREET - Bumped by another runner near the 350m. Raced wide in the early stages of the race.
CHANGING NOTES - Held up and unable to obtain clear running rounding the home turn until leaving the 200m.
THE LYNCHES - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 4: Mater Philips Cardiology Class 6 Plate - 1000 metres
CHEERING - Jumped outwards at the start and hampered another runner.
PINYARDA - Began awkwardly and shifted inwards. Held up for clear running leaving the 300m and again near the 100m.
MAN AROUND TOWN - Bumped on jumping.
LUSHAN - Began awkwardly, was unable to obtain clear running in the home straight and went to the finish without being fully tested.
POWER SUPPLY - Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.
METEOR STORM - Shifted out at the start and bumped another runner.
CHOI OI - Began awkwardly and was bumped by another runner at the start.
SEPTIMO - Tightened for room shortly after the start, shifted out and bumped another runner.
BOMBER MISS - Raced 4 wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 5: Mater Emergency Department BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1200 metres
JUMBO RUMBO - When Apprentice E. Cass failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time, due to transport difficulties, Apprentice C. Bayliss was substituted as rider of the gelding.
ETRANGERE - Slow to begin.
LE CHIFFRE - Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
SERGEANT SHRIVER - Slow to begin.
WHITEHOUSE AFFAIR - Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
AMULETO - Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
CHIEF ADVOCATE - Over-raced in the middle stages.
RACE 6: Townsville Fashion Festival Class 3 Plate - 1400 metres
ROYAL SUPREME - Slow to begin. Restrained near the 1000m when tightened for room.
OOSTHUIZEN - Over-raced in the middle stages. Shifted in near the 1000m and hampered another runner.
SAN VITTORIO - Slow to begin.
OUR KAPOW - Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
DREAMWARD BOUND - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
FORGIVE ME - Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the entrance to the home straight until leaving the 100m.
OLSSON - Rider W. D'Avila dropped his whip near the 300m.
SPACE TIME - Lost its near hind plate during running.
RACE 7: Mater Townsville Cup Open Handicap - 2000 metres
FLYING LIGHT - On arriving on course the gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
RANKED - Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
FASTNET FLYER - Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages of the race. Inconvenienced near the 500m when tightened for room.
ROCKNET - Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race. Leaving the 500m was checked to avoid heels and lost ground.
LEGAL PROCEDURE - Raced wide in the early stages, until improving forward to assume the lead near the 1500m.
KNOWING ME - Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
MUKADDAMAH SON - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
CHESTNUT ROAD - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
FAB’S COWBOY - Jockey R. Faehr pleaded guilty to a charge of careless under AR 137(a) in that leaving the 500m he allowed the gelding to shift out under riding when insufficiently clear of ROCKNET (Jockey N. Day ), which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey Faehr was suspended from riding in races for a period of 11 days, to commence at midnight on 5th August 2017, and to expire at mdnight on 16 August 2017.
RACE 8: The Caltex Yabulu Cleveland Bay Open Handicap - 1300 metres
The start of this race was delayed whilst Stewards held for a southern venue to be completed.
CRAIGLEA WANDOO - Slow to begin.
DRUMBEAT'S CHOICE - Slow to begin.
LE CAP - Slow to begin.
RIVARIVA - Slow to begin. Leaving the 300m shifted in slightly and crowded another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
ALL FIVES - Near the 300m was steadied when bumped whilst racing in restricted room.
CASINO THOUGHTS – Shifted out leaving the 300m, and bumped another runner.
ACCIDENTAL - Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.
CRAIGLEA DEKEN - Shifted wider rounding the home turn and improved onto heels near the 300m and had to be checked.
