On returning to scale J. Stanley, the rider of WICKED DANCER being delared third past the post, lodged a protest against CHIPS A PLENTY (J. Lambie) being declared 2nd, alleging interference near the 650m. After hearing all of the evidence and viewing stewards patrol film, it was established that CHIPS A PLENTY shifted in abruptly near the 650m when racing greenly, despite the efforts of its rider, causing WICKED DANCER to be checked and lose ground. After taking into account the finishing positions and margins between the two runners, stewards upheld the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers: 8 (HIDDEN WARRANT), 4 (WICKED DANCER), 5 (CHIPS A PLENTY) and 1 (OUR ALICIA’S LANE).

RACE 4: THE CATHEDRAL P & F ASSOC. PALLARENDA STAKES QTIS 2YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of the filly, nevertheless rider J. Lambie was severely reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort in keeping his mounts straight in similar circumstances.

SUJANI - Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Jockey S. Wiseman, the rider of OB LA DI, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R.137(a) in that she directed her mount outwards leaving the 300m, making heavy contact with POETIC PEARL, which became unbalanced and was forced wider on the track. Ms Wiseman's licence to ride in races was suspended for a perod of 8 days, to commence at midnight on 31st October 2017, and to expire at midnight on 8th November 2017.
