QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOWNSVILLE, THURSDAY, 29 MARCH 2018 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – HEAVY 8/SOFT 7 @ 11.30 AM, SOFT 6 AFTER RACE 3 RAIL – 2M 1000M-WP, TRUE REMAINDER PENETROMETER – 4.5 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Woodham Supplementary Report As jockey Z. White was not riding at today’s meeting due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. Due to road closures on the Bruce Highway a number of runners were declared late scratchings by order of the stewards at 10.30 am. Race 1. Lilly Kareena, Real Warrior, My Girl’s A Dragon. Race 2. Green AnchorRace 3. Purple Grey, Sweet JuneRace 4. Fast SunRace 5. Dazzling Pride We Just Love ItRace 6. Jordan, Cousin Muscles, Pink Stiletto Race 7. Our Single Doubt, Short Term. Race 1: Become A TTC Corporate Member Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1000m PINCER STRIKE – J. Stanley replaced S. Wilson who was unable to attend the meeting due to flooding. After being initially slow to begin was then hampered by another runner, which shifted inwards at the start. ROCKETTE ROCKET – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards at the start. POMME PETITE – Began awkwardly and shifted in, hampering a runner to its inside. Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn. Race 2: Join TSV Turf Club 100 Club Open H’cap – 1300m STELLAR KNIGHT – A pre-race veterinary examination cleared the horse to start. CRAIGLEA DEKEN – Rider Q. Krogh dropped his off-side rein when gathering up before regaining it a short distance later near the 300m. Race 3: Townsvilleturfclub.com.au QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m THE GIRLS ‘N’ ME – Was rough in its action shortly after the start and lost ground. Trainer T. Simmons was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. CRAIGLEA GALIO – Raced wide for the majority for the majority of the race. Race 4: Hygain Maiden Plate – 1200m ABBA ORIGINAL – Due to flooding, S. Wilson was replaced by C. Jokic as the rider of the horse. Began awkwardly. Was unable to obtain clear running, becoming awkward on the heels of a tiring runner near the 400m, having to be restrained and shifted wider. DAESY DANORO – S. Wiseman replaced A. Thomson who was unable to attend the meeting due to flooding. Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer L. McCormack was advised that the horse must obtain a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again. TOO PRETTY – Delayed the start when it proved difficult to load. Raced greenly throughout. Commenced to lose ground leaving the 600m and hampered other runners and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer A. Cameron was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners. Furthermore, the horse’s nomination will be refused at TAB meetings until such time as its form improves by way of country races, and that it also must trial to the stewards’ satisfaction on 2 occasions, and veterinary clearance must be provided prior to those trials. GREEK ROSE – Began awkwardly. Over-raced for some distance shortly after the start and as a result raced wide for the majority of the event. MANHATTAN MONTY – Shifted out when over-racing near the 900m, hampering another runner. Finished tailed off. Trainer R. Nelson was advised that the horse’s nomination will be refused at TAB meetings until such time as its form improves by way of country racing. Mr Nelson was also fined the sum of $100 under AR117(3) in that he removed the horse from the racecourse before the prescribed time. HOOVESGOTCHA – Leaving the 600m improved onto heels for some distance and near the 500m had to be checked and shifted out, inconveniencing another runner. PURE HAWK – Was inconvenienced by another runner near the 500m and had to be restrained. Unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested. GROHL – Hampered by another runner near the 900m and shifted wider on the track. Raced wide for the majority of the race. BLUMISS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 5: Townsville RSL Class 6 Plate – 1400m SPREADEAGLED – Shifted out near the 600m, making heavy contact with another runner and forcing that runner wider on the track. Rider M. Hart was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care. When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, trainer L. Smerdon advised he was of the opinion that the gelding may not have acclimatised properly and that he would monitor the horse going forward and would advise stewards of anything further that comes to his attention in the near future that may have had a further bearing on its performance today. LOKUM – Was bumped heavily near the 600m and forced wider on the track. Race 6: Carlton Mid Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1609m PERFECTLY ALIGNED – Commenced to over-race near the 1200m, throwing its head in the air, and as a result was permitted to improve forward, obtaining the lead near the 900m. Race 7: TSV Mater Emergency Benchmark 55 H’cap – 1300m DIAMOND RACER – Began awkwardly. THE PRINCIPAL – Held up for clear running on straightening, having to be steadied and shifted wider on the track. DONAVIA – Began awkwardly. JACARANDA PRINCE – Improved onto heels near the 400m, having to be steadied and shift wider. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Rider D.
