From Home Hill, 7.4.18 – Race 5 – Benchmark 65 – 1460m
 
CAPTAIN’S WAY – Trainer J. Manzelmann subsequently advised stewards after returning to its stable that the horse was found to be showing soreness in the near foreleg.  Mr Manzelmann was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the horse being permitted to race again.
 
From Atherton, 7.4.18 - Race 5 – Open H’cap- 1200m
 
BIG TOMEE – Trainer J. Williams subsequently advised stewards the gelding was found to have an infection in its off front hoof, which it was now being treated. Mr Williams further added that the gelding would now have a short break from racing. Stewards advised Mr Williams that he must provide a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to its next race start.
 
 
 
 
Race 1: Mater Health Services QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1200m
 
DALON – Delayed the start slightly when it proved difficult to load. Trainer G. Coleman was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Restrained near the 1000m when crowded for room by another runner, which shifted in. Jockey J. Felix was fined the sum of $200 in that he used his whip excessively prior to the 100m.
 
RAUNCHY WOMAN - Slow to begin.  Inconvenienced shortly after the start by another runner, which was racing ungenerously.
 
VALUATE – Attempted to buck shortly after the start and took no competitive part in the race.   Trainer A. Molino was advised that the filly must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.
 
DANCING DIVA – Shifted in near the 1000m crowding another runner when improving forward.  Rider B. Thomson was reprimanded and advised to be clear of runners when shifting ground.
 
TAMBO’S VIXEN – Forced wider on the track by another runner leaving the 600m when attempting to improve.
 
Race 2: The Ville Resort-Casino Class 3 Plate – 1609m
 
PINK STILETTO – Slow to begin.
 
HI SUGAR – Disappointed for a run near the 200m and shifted wider to obtain clear running.
 
DANZ THE MAN – Shifted 3 wide leaving the 1000m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
TO THE LETTER – Bumped by another runner near the 100m.
 
EQUISTAR – Commenced to lay in under pressure leaving the 300m and continued to do so, shifting in and bumping another runner near the 100m, proving difficult for rider N. Day to ride out with his full vigour.
 
Race 3: Ubet Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1300m
 
BELORUM – Slow to begin. Disappointed for a run near the 300m and had to be checked.  On return to scale, rider A. Butler, rider of third placegetter, BELORUM, lodged an objection against OUR SINGLE DOUBT (W. D’Avila) being declared second, alleging interference near the 300m. After hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the official race film, it was established  that BELORUM was disappointed near the 300m when attempting a run between OUR SINGLE DOUBT,   which shifted in slightly, and SHORT TERM (A. Thomson),  which was racing to the inside of BELORUM, which was dictated outwards by MAGIC BELINDA (B. Thomson), which hung out. However stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that BELORUM had obtained clear running at that point and as such dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judges semaphored numbers.
CHOMARU – Inclined to hang in in the early stages. Finished tailed off. Trainer A. Harrison was advised that the horse’s nomination would be refused at TAB meetings until such time as its form improves by way of country meetings.
 
SHORT TERM – Forced wider by another runner near the 300m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MAGIC BELINDA – Laid out for the majority of the race, forcing another runner wider rounding the home turn and again near the 300m.  When questioned into the performance of the mare, trainer G. Hughes advised stewards he would give consideration to the horse being sent for a spell after consultation with the owners and would advise stewards of his decision.
 
Race 4: Caltex Yabulu Open H’cap – 1400m
 
SPREADEAGLED – Trainer L. Smerdon advised stewards it will be his intention to have the gelding ridden back in the field from the wide barrier if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.  Was restrained at the start to take up a rearward position. Trainer L. Smerdon was advised that the horse’s nomination would be refused at TAB venues until such time as its form improves by way of country meetings.  Mr Smerdon added that it was now his intention for the horse to be sent for a spell.
 
HOT SAGA – Began awkwardly.
 
OLD SMOKEY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer T. Bannon was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the horse racing again. Ms Bannon added she would give consideration to the gelding now being sent for a spell.   
 
DAZZLING PRIDE – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer R. Chillemi was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the horse being permitted to race again
 
Race 5: Townsville RSL Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
CRAIGLEA SIMMO – Slow to begin.
  
MIDGIE GREM – Slow to begin.
 
HEART OF THE MAC – Began awkwardly.
 
BLUMISS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
JACK REACHER – Slow to begin.
 
LATTIMER – Slow to begin.  Shifted out shortly after the start, bumping another runner.
 
CENTRE RED – Slow to begin. Shifted out leaving the 500m, hampering another runner.  Rider S. Wilson was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
RED HOT ROMEO – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Hampered leaving the 500m by another runner which shifted out.
 
CRAIGLEA MARIAH – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 6: Hygain Class 2 H’cap – 1000m

CRAIGLEA CETINA – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ARNHEM BEAUTY – Fractious during the preliminary. Trainer M. Young was advised that a warning would be placed on its parading manners.
 
MISHANI REDMAN – Shifted out at the start, forcing another runner wider.
 
MY GIRL’S A DRAGON – Forced wider by another runner at the start, and in turn shifted out, forcing another runner wider.
 
OCTOBER TUTU – Forced wider on jumping and shifted out, tightening the running of another runner.
 
RAINING DOLLARS – Initially slow to begin and was then tightened for room and lost significant ground.
 
SHAHQA – After being slow to begin, shifted inwards, tightening runners to its inside inside.
 
FINE FERGUS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Trainer A. Payne was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s competitiveness at TAB meetings.
 
TOP DECISION – Trainer A. Harrison was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding competitiveness at TAB meetings.
 
Race 7: Carlton Mid QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1200m
 
MAHARG – Dislodged rider P. Cullen behind the barriers. Jockey Cullen declared himself fit to ride. Slow to begin.
 
KANUI – Began awkwardly. Was inconvenienced by another runner which shifted in near the 900m and had to be restrained.
 
GREY MISSILE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
 
SEATTLE GAL – Shifted in at the start, making heavy contact with the runner to its inside. 
 
STARENA – Bumped heavily by another runner on jumping away. Restrained near the 900m and shifted in, inconveniencing another runner.
 
OUR ATOM – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
ELITE JET – Improved onto heels leaving the 1000m, having to be restrained and threw its head in the air.
 
ROSE CLIP – Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
