Race 1: Hit 103.1 Maiden H’cap – 1400m
 
MIGHTY MEERKAT – Apprentice jockey A. Spinks was permitted to ride the mare when only able to claim 1 kilogram of his 2 kilogram claim. Apprentice Spinks was fined the sum of $200. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SI D’AMOUR – Slow to begin.  Shifted wider leaving the 800m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
COMMANDING JOY – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled during the race. As this was the first  occasion on which it has bled, and acting under AR53A, trainer M. Jokic was advised that the mare would incur the mandatory 3 month ban from racing, and must gallop to the satisfaction of stewards over 1000m before being permitted to race again.
 
EUCHARIST – Tightened for room near the 1000m and shifted in, brushing the running rail, having to be steadied.
 
PLATINUM PULSE – Laid in approaching the 1000m and tightened runners to its inside.
 
DOUBLEO CI – Shifted in slightly near the 1000m, crowding a runner to its inside. Shifted out slightly near the 500m, bumping another runner, which became unbalanced.
 
MISS FURY – Crowded for room near the 1000m and was steadied.
 
COLORADO RIVER – Was bumped by another runner near the 500m and became unbalanced, then being buffeted between runners when racing in restricted room. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LORD ARCHER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.  Rider W. D’Avila reported to stewards following the event that the horse’s bubble cheeker had became misplaced during in running, placing him at a disadvantage.
 
Race 2:  Subway Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1609m
 
CRIMSON HALO – Competed and won at the Cairns race meeting on 17 July was penalised 2 kilograms to carry an allotted weight of 59.5 kilograms for today’s event. This was conveyed to media outlets.
 
FISH BONES FRY – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages.
 
SANSUKE – On returning to scale rider R. Payne advised stewards it was not her intention to lead on the gelding however after riding hard in the early stages from its wide barrier the gelding raced keenly and had obtained a large lead before she was able to restrain and settle it.   
 
Race 3: The Mater Women’s Unit QTIS 3you H’cap – 1000m
 
MOLONGLE FIRE – Slow to begin.  Shifted in near the 900m, making heavy contact with another runner. Rider S. Sheargold was severely reprimanded and advised to take greater care in similar circumstances. Momentarily held up for clear running near the 200m.
 
A LITTLEBITTAMAGIC – Bumped heavily near the 900m and became unbalanced. Rider S. Wiseman dropped her whip near the 100m.
 
TEYSSIER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
OUR ATOM – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ROSE CLIP – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CHARLIE ROCKET – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: Townsville Jaguar Land Rovr Open H’cap – 2000m
 
STABLE SURPRIZE – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages when being restrained and throwing its head in the air.
 
QUEEN GORGO – Shifted out approaching the 500m to improve, bumping with another runner.
 
HOT SAGA – Bumped by another runner near the 500m.
 
FASTNET FLYER – Shifted out slightly approaching the winning post, making contact with another runner.
 
LYRICAL SON – Shifted in slightly approaching the winning post, making contact with another runner, then attempting to savage that runner. Trainer A. Molino was advised that a warning would be placed on LYRICAL SON regarding its racing manners.
 
ROYAL ATOM – On returning to scale rider N. Day advised stewards it was not his intention to lead on the gelding however when the pace slackened on the turn out of the straight on the first occasion he was left with no other option.   
 
Race 5: The Hunting House Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
 
LATTIMER – Began awkwardly.
 
SAMBA RIO – Slow to begin.  Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
 
TWO PLUS TWO – Shifted in at the start, making contact with another runner.
 
CORNISH TALES – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
ROCKING MY WORLD – After being initially slow to begin, was then hampered by another runner, which shifted in at the start.
 
LOVE ME RUBY – Shifted out shortly after the start, hampering another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
IMPERIAL BELLE – Improved onto heels near the 700m, having to be steadied.
 
HARVEST PRIDE – Laid out in the middle stages. Steadied from heels approaching the winning post.
 
PURRHAPS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LUCKY FEELING – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 6: Global Welding 2018 Race2Reef-Final-Talbot Heatley Lightning Open H’cap – 1000m
 
LIFE’S LIKE THAT – After being slow to begin shifted out shortly after the start, bumping another runner. Checked near the 700m when tightened for room. Improved onto heels near the 500m and was restrained and shifted wider.
 
CASINO THOUGHTS – Slow to begin and then bumped by another runner and shifted inwards, bumping another runner. Bumped by another runner near the 100m.
 
I WANNA BREAK FREE – Began awkwardly.
 
JACK LANCASTER – Was bumped by another runner on jumping away.  Jockey N. Day was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 700m he permitted his mount to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear of LIFE’S LIKE THAT (P. Cullen), which had to be checked when tightened for room between that runner and SEPTIMO (C. Whiteley).  Jockey Day’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days, to commence at midnight, 30 July 2018, and to expire at midnight, 10 August 2018.
 
PRINCELY – Shifted out near the 100m, crowding another runner.
 
MAN AROUND TOWN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 7: The Ville Resort-Casino Bracelet F&M Class 6 H’cap – 1300m
 
On return to scale a protest was lodged by jockey P. Cullen, rider of MOLONGLE DREAM,  placed 2nd past the post, against CHICA PEEPS being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 100m.  After hearing from all connections and viewing the race film, stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s semaphored numbers.
 
GINGER SNAP – Slow to begin.
 
ALLEZ TROIENNE – After being slow to begin was then tightened for room and lost ground.
 
OUR RECIPE – Shifted in on jumping, tightening a runner to its inside.
 
MAGIC BELINDA – Shifted out shortly after the start, inconveniencing a runner to its outside. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MOLONGLE DREAM – Shifted inwards at the start, making contact with another runner. Brushed by another runner approaching the winning post.  
 
RYLEE’S SAGA – Bumped by another runner on jumping away.
 
CHICA PEEPS – Over-raced in the early stages.  Raced wide for the majority of the race. Shifted out over the concluding stages brushing another runner. Rider S. Wiseman was advised to exercise more care.
 
ROYAL WARRIOR – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and again in the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
MIAZUMI – Unable to obtain clear running after entering the home straight until near the 100m.
