Race 1: THE RACK’N STACK WAREHOUSE QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1200M

The start of this race was delayed significantly when P. Cullen, the rider of OTHERSIDE, was struck in the head by his mount whilst parading prior to leaving the saddling enclosure. After being examined by the ambulance officers, jockey Cullen was cleared to fulfil his engagement. Before OTHERSIDE was loaded into the barriers, jockey Cullen was asked again regarding his wellbeing and he declared himself fit to ride the horse.

Stewards inquired into an incident approaching and leaving the winning post where ALLROUND GLORY had to be checked and shift wider, resulting in rider B. Pengelly becoming unbalanced. After hearing the evidence of stewards, B. Pengelly (ALLROUND GLORY), C. Whiteley (SPACE TIME) and apprentice A. Thomson (WINDMILL LANE) in the presence of her master trainer F. Wieland, it was established that WINDMILL LANE had a tendency to lay in under pressure, proving difficult to ride out and shifted in approaching the winning post, placing ALLROUND GLORY in restricted room. Soon after, SPACE TIME shifted in, taking up the room vacated by WINDMILL LANE, not allowing that runner to shift wider, resulting in ALLROUND GLORY being tightened for room and having to be checked and shift wider on the point of the turn soon after the winning post. MEGA D’ORO (D. Simmons) was also tightened for room in this incident. Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of WINDMILL LANE and the efforts of apprentice A. Thomson, Ms Thomson was given the benefit of the doubt, however, stewards advised that they would expect greater effort in similar circumstances. C. Whiteley (SPACE TIME) was also advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
