Race 1: Townsville Vet Clinic QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
THE GIRLS ‘N’ ME – Delayed the start when proved very difficult to load. Trainer T. Simmons was advised that a further barrier certificate must be obtained before the gelding would be permitted to race again.
 
GREAT FOX – Began awkwardly. Buffeted between runners shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a slow post-race recovery.
 
KENSINGTON GOLD – Began awkwardly and shifted out, forcing other runners wider at the start.
 
LITTLE ARROWS – Forced wider on jumping, making heavy contact with another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CRIAGLEA TREACLE – Bumped heavily on jumping and blundered badly, losing ground.
 
FLOSSY TOP – Bumped heavily on the hindquarters on jumping, becoming unbalanced. Had a tendency to hang out throughout the race. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CRIAGLEA ZED – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
ME AND MY DRUM – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SWEET JUNE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 2: Plumber To Your Door Class 6 Plate – 1400m
 
FORGIVE ME – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping a runner to its inside. Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 900m when racing to the inside of another runner.
 
CASTA – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
Race 3: Ardent Office Equipment Class 3 Plate – 1609m
 
LOVE ME RUBY – Slow to begin.
 
FERINGO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be sore in its off-side knee. Trainer R. Long was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided before the horse is permitted to race again.
 
SIR VAN DYKE – When asked to explain the performance, rider J. Stanley stated that he was disappointed with the horse’s performance today but did note it was the gelding’s second start after a spell and was stepping up from 1200 metres to 1609 metres, and he was of the opinion that the pace of the race was not suitable to the gelding today and as such he was forced to make a long run on the horse leaving the 600m, which had a detrimental effect on its performance today. Stewards noted the explanation. Trainer T. Bannon agreed with jockey Stanley’s assessment, however gave an undertaking to monitor the horse going forward and if anything came to her attention that may have had a further bearing on its performance today she would advise stewards.A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
Race 4: Dianne’s Catering Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
EM CEE ROCKET – Was declared a late scratching at 12.35 pm due to the wrong horse being presented on course.At a subsequent inquiry, trainer R. Chillemi was found to breached LR40 and subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(k), in that as the trainer of that horse he was negligent in the fact that he failed to confirm the identity of such horse, which resulted in the wrong horse being presented to compete in Townsville today. Mr Chillemi was fined the sum of $500.
 
VANQUISH – Slow to begin.
 
TRAVERS – Began awkwardly.
 
DELUXE EDITION – Jumped outwards at the start, tightening a runner to its outside.
 
KEGSY – Tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground.
 
TEXAS GAL – Began awkwardly.Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
EUCHARIST – Shifted out on jumping away, tightening a runner to its outside. Shifted outunder pressure over the concluding stages.
 
FAST SUN – Tightened for room on jumping away. Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BLUMISS – Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight.
 
MICHELIN FIVE STAR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 5: Food Relief NQ BM55 H’cap – 1300m
 
MARTIAL ART – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Shifted out near the 700m, bumping another runner. Improved onto heels approaching the 400m, having to be steadied and was unable to improve until shifting wider leaving the 400m.
 
PROFOUND CHOICE – Slow to begin.
 
ULTRA RED – Slow to begin.
 
BEAUTIFUL LOVE – Slow to begin.
 
SI D’AMOUR – Began awkwardly.
 
PARTY PIES – Bumped by another runner near the 700m and shifted wider, racing wide from that point onwards.
 
GOLD TORQUE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
DEPUTY DAN – Slow to begin. When asked to explain the improved performance, trainer M. Geaney stated that the gelding was resuming from a long spell at its previous start and after meeting with some interference in the home straight was not overly disappointed with its first-up run, adding the horse had pleased him in the lead up to today’s event, and had previously racedwell second up from a spell. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
 
Race 6: Sky Racing Class 1 H’cap – 1000m
 
SAMBA RIO – Slow to begin.
 
WILHELMINA – Slow to begin.
 
KANUI – Began awkwardly. Unable to obtain clear running from entering the home straight until near the 100m.
 
MAGITORIAL – Laid in rounding the home turn, having to be restrained when being placed in restricted room.
 
STARENA – Placed in restricted room rounding the home turn and for a short distance in the home straight.
 
NORTHERN REVENGE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BALLERDEE BOB – Slow to begin.Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
YOU’RE SO VAIN- Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MERCURY BULLET – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
PARK HUSSLER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 7: Tropical Containers H’cap – 1200m
 
OLD SMOKEY – Slow to begin.
 
LUSHAN – Slow to begin.
 
DON’T TELL PETE – After being slow to begin was then inconvenienced by another runner and lost ground.
 
MALKARA – Began awkwardly and blundered, shifting in and inconveniencing another runner.
 
I WANNA BREAK FREE – Shifted outwards at the start, inconveniencing runners to its outside.
 
RIVARIVA – Inconvenienced on jumping away by another runner and lost ground.
 
CONFRONTING – Inconvenienced on jumping away and lost ground.
 
MORE THAN A SONG – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have capped it off hip.
