GENERAL
 
Saturday 17th November 2018 – Townsville Turf Club
Race 5 Benchmark 60 Handicap
METAZOA was found to have a poor post race recovery. Trainer Ms S. D’Avila was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the METAZOA being permitted again to start in a race.
 
As Jockey J.Esser was not the holder of the appropriate license to ride at today’s Provincial  TAB race meeting, he was replaced in Race 5 as the rider of SUGAR RAY RED, by Jockey R. McMahon.
 
Race 1: TABCORP QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
 
SWORDFISH – Slowly away.
 
HENRYROBERT – Slowly away. Hung out for the majority. Trainers’ representative Ms J. Doolan was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
CAPTAIN CALLOW – Slowly away. Had to be restrained off heels near the 500m. Raced greenly throughout.
 
BOLD ENCHANTMENT – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Jockey C.Whiteley advised that the filly had raced greenly for the majority and was disappointing. Trainer Mr G. Taylor felt the filly may not have handled the long road trip from Rockhampton in the prevailing hot weather conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off fore leg. Mr Taylor was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the filly again being permitted to start in a race.
 
DE LADY DELUXE – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.  
 
 
Race 2: A TOUCH OF SALT BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1400M
 
BAWAARDI ROCKET – Began awkwardly. Was unable to muster pace in the early stages.

BOLD KINGSTON – Was inclined to over race in the early and middle stages.
 
PURE HAWK – Jockey J. Stanley advised that in his opinion the gelding had raced disappointingly today being unable to produce its normal sprint. It was revealed on returning to the enclosure that PURE HAWK had lost its off fore plate in running. Trainer Mr J. Caught felt that the gelding may not have backed up after its recent first up run and also felt that today’s sultry weather conditions may have been a factor. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the off fore leg.
 
Race 3: TOWNSVILLE YACHT CLUB BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1609M
 
SPIRITED CHARACTER – Was inclined to over race in the middle stages.

ZELENUS – Raced wide without cover in the middle stages.
 
MUSTARRID – Was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. Lost off hind plate in running.
 
ARNO BAY – Had to be restrained across heels approaching the 200m to obtain clear running.
 
Race 4: ROWLAND’S SURVEYS MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M
 
CLEVER FOX – Refused to settle in the early stages after being slowly away.
 
DAESY DENORO – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MAROON CREEK – Raced wide in the early stages after being slowly away. Shifted in near the 1300m inconveniencing another runner. Jockey S. Pawsey was advised to ensure his mount is fully clear in similar circumstances.
 
AGILITY – Had to be restrained near the 1300m when crossed by another runner which was not fully clear.
 
CINQUE – Began awkward. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Was held up for clear running in the home straight until reaching the 100m.
 
TEXAS GAL – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
PLATINUM PULSE – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
GOWAY GIRL – Slowly away. Had to be restrained in order to obtain clear running near the 200m.
 
Race 5: HORAN & HIRD CLASS 3 PLATE – 1000M
 
RAINING DOLLARS – Slowly away.
 
DALON – Knuckled badly on jumping almost dislodging Jockey Ms B. Thomson. Raced wide without cover for the majority. Was inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running.
 
NIGHT ATTIRE – Was inclined to over race in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in when placed under pressure in the concluding stages.
 
METEOR’S MAN – Was inclined to lay in for a short distance passing the 800m.

GOOD AS DONE – Had to be restrained off heels at the 500m.
 
LIEUTENANT DAN – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 6: THURINGOWA RSL OPEN H’CAP – 1600M
 
BELLA SASH – Was inconvenienced when tightened between runners on jumping.
 
CONCLUDER – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously passing the 800m.
 
SPORTING PAGE – Had to be steadied from heels near the 800m.

SEPTIMO – Raced wide for the majority.

ROYAL PHYSICIAN – Raced wide for the majority.
 
IMANUI – Raced wide for the majority.
 
LE CHEF – Was inclined to lay in passing the 200m despite the efforts of Jockey R. McMahon inconveniencing another runner. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a stone bruise to the near fore hoof. Trainer Mr J. Morris was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race.
 
I WANNA BREAK FREE – Was inconvenienced by another runner which was inclined to lay in passing the 200m.
 
Race 7: CHRISTMAS VENUES TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
 
TUSCAN GAMBLER – Trainer Mr M. Jokic advised Stewards that if possible the gelding would be ridden off the pace in today’s race in an effort to finish off its race. Patrons were advised of the change of tactics via public address. The gelding was ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Was hampered after commencing to over race and being tightened between runners near the 1100m.
 
BITHARD – Was fractious in the barrier.
 
COUSIN MUSCLES – Was slowly away.
 
WATCH ME DAZZLE EM – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SAMBA RIO – Laid in under pressure on several occasions in the home straight, inconveniencing another runner. Jockey P. Cullen was severely reprimanded and directed to stop riding and straighten in similar circumstances.
 
DEACON BLACK – Was inconvenienced on several occasions in the home straight by another runner which was inclined to lay in.
 
Race 8: COCA COLA AMATIL CLASS 1 H’CAP
 
KANUI – Was very slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Jockey Ms C. Jokic when questioned advised Stewards that after tacking onto the field in the middle stages she had elected to restrain in an attempt to save ground as several runners forward of KANUI had commenced to shift wider on the track when the pace steadied and would have forced the mare very wide if she had pressed on at that point.
 
COULD I BE – Slowly away.
 
GOLDEN LIGHT – Over reacted and raced ungenerously when Jockey S Sheargold attempted to steady the pace near the 800m causing several runners that were following to be hampered.
 
VANDROSS - Had to be restrained off heels near the 800m when the pace steadied.
 
ALPINE MAGIC – Had to be restrained off heels near the 800m when the pace steadied.
 
SKI FIELD – Had to be restrained off heels near the 800m when the pace steadied.
 
RANGERZANE – Raced wide throughout.

SUPER METEOR – Raced wide throughout.
