From Mt Isa Jockey Club, 28.4.19
 
Trainer J. Bawden pleaded guilty to a charge under AR104(1) in that he was unable to present a treatment book on a stable inspection as required to do so under Australian Rules of Racing. Mr Bawden was fined the sum of $200 and was advised that this was a requirement under the Rules Of Racing and a condition of his licence to train thoroughbred horses.
 
Race 1:  TAB QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap - 1200m
 
CRAIGLEA CREULLA – Delayed the start when becoming fractious behind the barriers and dislodging A. Thompson. After galloping for some distance was declared a late scratching at 1.29 pm by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.
 
2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
2 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win
5 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
8 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd placed bets
 
Trainer K. Johnson was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s pre-race manners.  
 
MERAKI STAR – Slow to begin. Shifted out slightly leaving the 400m, hampering another runner.  Raced wide for the majority of the race.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled during running. Under the provisions of AR79(4)(a)(b) the horse will be banned from racing for a period of 3 months, and must successfully complete a 1000m gallop  before stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
 
NOBODY BETTER – Slow into stride.  Raced ungenerously for the majority of the race. Improved onto the heels of another runner, which shifted out slightly near the 400m, having to shift wider.
 
UP THE RIVER – Raced ungenerously jn the early stages. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 200m, having to be corrected.
 
CRAIGLEA ESKIMO – Slow to begin. Raced greenly for the majority of the race.
 
THE STOCKBROKER – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
LITTLE SPOON – Improved onto heels near the 700m, having to be steadied.
 
Race 2: Canadian Club Maiden H’cap – 1400m
 
HONEST NATALIE – Slow to begin.  Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
 
CRAIGLEA ARION – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.  Commenced to over-race leaving the 1000m and until the 400m, and as a result raced in restricted room for some distance.
 
DRUMEOUS – Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 1000m
 
BASK IN GLORY – Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 1000m. Steadied off heels near the 900m. Hampered by another runner, which shifted in, and was obliged to alter course near the 300m.
 
ACEEM – Had a tendency to hang in throughout the race. Shifted in near the 300m, hampering another runner.
 
SEAMAD – Shifted in and away from another runner, which shifted in near the 200m and was restrained. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LANZOFFANY – Shifted in near the 200m under pressure, inconveniencing another runner. Rider G. Watson was severely reprimanded and advised to make a much greater effort to keep his runners straight in similar circumstances. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
AGILITY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
D’MAIN TRAIN – Raced greenly for the majority of the race.
 
Race 3:  Carlton United Breweries Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1609m
 
MUSTARRRID – Was examined by the veterinary surgeon pre-race and was cleared to start.  
 
SUPER MARIO – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and as a result began awkwardly.
 
FERINGO – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the 400m.
 
DANZ THE MAN – Commenced to over-race near the 1200m and shifted to a 3-wide position and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
REGAL EMBRACE – Commenced to overrace in the middle stages and as a result its saddle shifted forward near the 1000m, placing its rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

KIRABO – Began awkwardly.
 
MORE THAN A SONG – Rider A. Thompson was reprimanded in that he used his whip in an excessive manner prior to the 100m.  
 
Race 5: Brown Brothers QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1000m
 
OUR ALICIA’S LANE – Began awkwardly.
 
TAWHIRI – Shifted out at the start, tightening a runner to its outside.
 
BANK TELLER – Shifted inwards at the start, tightening a runner to its inside.
 
LOVEISALL YOUNEED – Tightened for room between runners on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CRAIGLEA ZED – Commenced to over-race when crossed by another runner leaving the 600m, becoming awkwardly placed at heels until near the 500m.
 
AETHERIUS – Shifted out in an attempt to gain clear running near the 300m, bumping another runner.  Apprentice R. Shred was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
TELL EVERYBODY – Bumped on the hind quarters by another runner, which shifted out near the 300m, becoming unbalanced.
 
DALON – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.  
 
ROCK BABY ROLL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a laceration to its near hind fetlock.
 
Race 6: TAB Class 2 Plate – 1000m
 
CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping a runner to its outside.
 
ANNE CATHERINE – Bumped by another runner on jumping away.
 
BETTER BE CAUTIOUS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Shifted in marginally approaching the winning post when brushed on the hind quarters.  
 
BAUHINIA STORM – Began awkwardly.
 
CINNABARBOW – Slow to begin.
 
MERCURY BULLET – Steadied off heels near the 700m. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 400m.
 
SPARKLY STAR – Shifted out under pressure leaving the 50m and continued to do so approaching the winning post. Rider K. Rockett pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount  to shift out under heavy pressure when insufficiently clear of DOUBLE DENMAN (S. Sheargold), which had to be checked approaching the winning post.  K. Rockett’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight, 4 May 2019 and to expire at midnight, 16 May 2019.  K. Rockett was advised of his rights of review.
 
DOUBLE DENMAN – Placed in restricted room leaving the 50m, having to be checked approaching the winning post.
 
TECZA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
DIAMOND COUNTRY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
EVIL EYE MAC – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MONKEY MAGIC – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to lame in the off fore leg. Trainer M. Geaney was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the horse being permitted to race again.
 
Race 7: Hygain Class 4 H’cap 1200m
 
RUSTY SCOOTER – Slow to begin. Unable to obtain clear running leaving the 200m, having to be restrained and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
LOST CLASSIC – Slow to begin.
 
WALLANDER – Difficult to load. Slow to begin. Shifted out abruptly leaving the 700m, bumping another runner.
 
COUNT CUMANI – Bumped by another runner leaving the 700m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
IMANUI – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
PLAIN “N” SIMPLE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
