FlemingStarter – T. Woodham Supplementary Report From Cloncurry, 5.5.2019 Trainer D. Smith pleaded guilty to a charge under AR104(1) in that he was unable to present a treatment book on a stable inspection as required to do so under the Australian Rules of Racing. Mr Smith was fined the sum of $200 and was further advised that this was a requirement under the Rules of Racing and a condition of his licence to train thoroughbred horses. From Mt Garnett, 3.5.19 Stewards opened an inquiry into a report received from Race 5 on the program that day that an incident may have occurred to the runner Irish Heart. Evidence was taken from rider W. D’Avila and trainer S. Potiris, and a written report which was received by stewards. The matter was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed to allow further evidence to be obtained. Mr Potiris was advised Irish Heart would not be permitted to race until the completion of the inquiry. Race 1: TAB Download The App QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1000m MOUNTAIN HALO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. REDESKI – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously for a short distance when brushed by another runner near the 200m. LADY YENDOR – Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 200m, brushing another runner. ORIENTAL GIRL – Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn and continued to do so in the home straight. CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 2: Carlton United Breweries Open H’cap – 1400m SCHEDULE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. BEST HOFFA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted in near the 1200m, crowding another runner, which had to be restrained and alter course. Rider A. Thomson was severely reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 1000m. ARMS RACE – Crowded for room near the 1200m and was restrained and shifted wider, racing wide from that point onwards. Shifted in near the 1000m, placing another runner in restricted room for a short distance. Rider P. Cullen was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. IMANUI – When questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance, trainer J. Caught advised stewards he had removed the blinkers for today’s race and added ear muffs in the hope to have the horse settle in its races as it steps up over distances, however felt with the blinkers removed and the ear muffs being worn for the first time may have contributed to the horse’s performance today. It will now be his intention to have the horse wear its ear muffs to the barrier gates only and having them removed. Rider C. Whiteley agreed with Mr Caught’s assessment. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken. Race 3: Hygain Maiden H’cap – 1200m CASINO WEEK – Slow to begin. HAMMERTONE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Steadied near the 100m when crowded for room by another runner, which shifted out. LA SHAFT – Tightened between runners on jumping. TELLMAY – Momentarily steadied near the 900m when racing in restricted room. WIRRAWAY – Over-raced in the early stages. HERSHISER – Shifted out leaving the 100m, crowding another runner. Rider S. Sheargold was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Lost its off front plate in running. CRAIGLEA TREACLE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. DAESY DANORO – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 4: TAB QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1200m BRITTEX – Began awkwardly. AETHERIUS – Jumped outwards at the start, bumping another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race. CRAIGLEA ZED – Began awkwardly and was then bumped by another runner, which shifted out. Following the running of this race and a further shower of rain, the track rating was downgraded to Soft 5. Race 5: Canadian Club Class 2 Plate – 1200m SAN VITTORIO – Slow into stride. BUXTON – Slow into stride. LUCKEY CONNECTION – Jumped outwards at the start, bumping runners to its outside. EVIL EYE MAC – Jumped inwards at the start, tightening runners to its inside. CINNABARBOW – Tightened for room between runners on jumping. LEIGHWAY – Tightened for room between runners on jumping. TOFF ROCKS – Hampered over the concluding stages when tightened for room by another runner, which shifted out under pressure. DOUBLE DENMAN – Shifted out under pressure, hampering another runner over the concluding stages. Jockey A. Spinks, rider of DOUBLE DENMAN, was reprimanded and advised to make greater effort to keep his mounts straight in similar circumstances. MICK’S DREAM – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 6: Brown Brothers Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1000m CEEBIZ KIT – Slow to begin. SIMPLY MARVELLOUS – Slow to begin. LIKER – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. MAGIC BELINDA – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. COUNTLESS ROCK – Raced wide for the majority of the race. LITTLE STRYKER – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 7: TAB Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1400m Correct weight was delayed when jockey D. D’Avila, rider of the 4th placegetter, LORD ARCHER, lodged an objection against BROKEN FINGER (S. Sheargold) being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 300m. After hearing evidence from the parties concerned and viewing film of the race, stewards were of the opinion that initial contact was made by LORD ARCHER shifting out to obtain clear running and bumping BROKEN FINGER on the hind quarters, resulting in that horse shifting in slightly, and also being tightened by PRETTY VACANT (R. Shred), which also shifted out at that point of the race. As stewards could not be satisfied that any one rider or horse was at fault for the interference, stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s semaphored numbers. CANDY GIRL – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out near the 800m and shifted wider on the track. SYAMANTAKA MANI – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. HUTCHO – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. ARNO BAY – Put in an awkward stride near the 800m and shifted out, inconveniencing another runner. PRETTY VACANT – Shifted out under riding near the 300m, hampering another runner. Rider R. Shred was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. BROKEN FINGER – Hampered near the 300m by another runner, which shifted out being bumped on the hind quarters, causing it to become unbalanced and shift in slightly. Had a tendency to lay in in the home straight. LORD ARCHER – Shifted out, making contact with another runner near the 300m, causing that runner to be unbalanced and shift in, and then being tightened for room between runners when the runner to its inside shifted out and as result was restrained.
