Stewards accepted the reason for apprentice Amanda Thompson being unable to ride at her declared riding weight of 52 kilograms due to illness over the past week and only being able to ride at 54 kilograms today.
 
Race 1: TAB Download The App QTIS 2yo Classic Prelude H’cap – 1200m
 
EL OF A SAGA – Began awkwardly. Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.  Rider B. Pengelly was cautioned over his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
UP THE RIVER – Began awkwardly and shifted out, hampering another runner. Shifted out at the 100m, bumping with another runner.
 
GOIN’ GRAND – Slow to begin. Raced greenly for a short distance after the start.
 
ORIENTAL GIRL – Hampered on jumping away by another runner, which shifted out.  Bumped by another runner, which shifted out shortly after the start. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted in near the 100m bumping with another runner.  Jockey W. D’Avila reported on return to scale that, in his opinion, the filly may have got its tongue over the bit during running.
Race 2: Carlton United Breweries Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1400m
 
SYAMANTAKA MANI – Took a step back and put its head down as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer A. Cameron was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.
 
TESTATIME – Slow to begin.
 
FORGIVE ME – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
TRERICE – Trainer T. Bannon was fined $100 for presenting that horse to the enclosure without its advertised gear of blinkers. Laid out in the home straight when placed under pressure, shifting wider. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer T. Bannon was advised that warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.
 
Race 3: Hygain Maiden H’cap – 1000mm
 
OCTOBER STORM – Slow to begin.
 
FORTUNE FADED – Slow to begin.
 
GREAT LOOKER – Slow to begin.
 
LABRUSKO – Bumped by another runner on jumping and became unbalanced. Raced strongly in the early stages after being ridden forward to obtain a position closer to the inside rail.  
 
HAMMERTONE – Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
AGGARWAL – Shifted out near the 600m, forcing another runner wider.
 
BATTLE MOUNTAIN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MICHELIN FIVE STAR – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Forced wider leaving the 600m by another runner, which shifted out.
 
MISS SPOOK – Finished tailed off.  Trainer J. Barr, was advised that the mare’s nomination would be refused at TAB venues until it showed form improvement by way of country meetings.
 
Race 4: TAB QTIS 3yo Plate - 1300m
 
BANK TELLER – Slow to begin.
 
DALON – Commenced to over-race approaching the 1000m when being steadied.
 
POETIC ATTACKS – Over-raced when being restrained near the 1000m. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m, forcing another runner wider.
 
 
ROTH’N’BELL – Forced wider near the 200m, bumping another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
PURPLE GREY – Bumped by another runner, which shifted out near the 200m.
 
HOT TOP – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SHARP ARROW – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
AETHERIUS – On return to scale, rider J. Stanley explained the filly was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages of the race despite his efforts, and on pulling up was of the opinion the horse was stepping short in the off front leg. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer R. Ludwig advised stewards it is now his intention the filly be sent for an immediate spell.
 
Race 5: Canadian Club Ratings Band 0-60 H’cap – 1200m
 
REAL STING – Slow to begin.
 
ROTHESAY MAGIC – Slow to begin.  Raced ungenerously in the early stages, throwing its head in the air.
 
DAMKY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LEGAL LOOPHOLE – Found to have bled during the race. Connections were advised that the gelding would incur the mandatory 3 month bar from racing under AR79 and not to be trained on a track for 2 months, and then must pass a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.
 
Race 6: Brown Brothers Class 6 Plate – 1200m
 
SCHEDULE – Reared as the start was effected, losing considerable ground and taking no competitive part in the race. Trainer T. Butts, was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.
 
BOCHY – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SALESMAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 7: TAB Class 3 H’cap – 1000m
 
BORELLA – Examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the race and cleared to start.  Checked approaching the winning post when attempting a doubtful run to the inside of MISS ESTER, which was shifting ground. Jockey S. Wilson, rider of BORELLA, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
MAGIC BELINDA – Shifted a hind plate during its preliminary and was unable to be replated.  As such, permission was granted for the mare to race without hind plates.
 
MISS ESTER – Shifted ground approaching the winning post inwards and outwards.  Rider W. D’avila, was advised to show greater care in keeping his mounts straight.
 
PURE HAWK – Improved onto heels approaching the winning post, having to be checked.
 
MERCURY BULLET – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SHAHQA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MAKE HER OWN MONEY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
