General:
 
As apprentice, A. Thomson was not riding at today’s meeting due to illness she was replaced as per Stewards summary. Ms Thomson was advised she must provide a medical clearance prior to her next race ride.
 
Following a Stewards inspection and request to jockey’s if any mobile phones were present in the jockey’s room, F. Edwards, C, Whiteley, B. Pengelly, J. Stanley, W. D’Avila, D. Edmonds, N. Yadi and M. Abe all produced mobile phones that were in their gear bags. Whilst Stewards were satisfied no phones had been used during the time of the meeting all riders were fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR 218 (4) (b).         
 
Race 1: McDONALDS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M
 
VAN GAAL – As jockey B. Pengelly was unable to make the allotted weight he was replaced by P. Cullen. B. Pengelly was fined the sum of $100. Was checked near the 1000m when tightened for room by another runner.
 
STARBEATS – Slow to begin.
 
WHAT’S ROCKIN’ – Slow to begin.

STAR BANNER – Slow to begin.
 
SPACEX – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously for a short distance after the start.
 
UPTOWN TOFF – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race wide for the majority of the race.
 
JACK REACHER – Shifted out near the 1000m hampering another runner.
 
TRIGGER – Hampered near the 1000m by another runner which shifted out. Bumped by another runner which shifted out near the 150m.
 
THE GROVE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Shifted out near the 150m bumping another runner.
 
HERSHISER – Placed in restricted room for a short distance near the 1000m. Lost its off fore plate during running.
 
KING’S KNIGHT – Rider P. Romeo pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 131 (a) in that near the 1000m he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent the gelding from shifting when insufficiently clear of VAN GAAL (P. Cullen) which had to be checked when taken inwards placing another runner in restricted room. P. Romeo’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days commence at midnight 31/08/2019 and to expire midnight 8/09/2019.      

Race 2: AUSTRALIAN TRAINERS ASSOCIATION QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
 
GOLDIE’S ARCHER – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. Began awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with the runner to its outside. Shifted in abruptly near the 50m inconveniencing another runner which had to be checked before being corrected. Trainer W. Winters was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier and racing manners.
 
GO JABBA – Slow to begin.
 
VAMPARINA – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MISS ELLEY – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
AMELIA’S RAINBOW – Began awkwardly.
 
CRAIGLEA CLAY – Bumped heavily on jumping by another runner which shifted out.
 
CRAIGLEA HUSKY – Hampered on jumping by another runner which shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
TOSCAVALE ROAD – Correct weight was delayed whilst rider F. Edwards viewed the official race film to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner (GOLDIE’S ARCHER) alleging interference near the 50m. After viewing the film, he declined to proceed and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers. Checked near the 50m by another runner which shifted in abruptly.
 
CRAIGLEA LIZZY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.  
 
Race 3: THE VILLE RESORT – CASINO CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M
 
GREAT FOX – Slow to begin. Rider B. Pengelly was reprimanded in regards to his excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
MALOS – Slow to begin. Shifted out bumping another runner near the 300m.
 
LIEUTENANT DAN – Jumped outwards at the start bumping another runner. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 200m.
 
BORELLA – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
READY FOR LOVE – Began awkwardly. Disappointed for a run near the 200m and was restrained for a short distance.  
 
SOLUMINATE – Had difficulties obtaining clear running entering the home straight until leaving the 200m.
 
CHEVAUX – Bumped by another runner and forced wider near the 300m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SUNNY SAILOR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MERCURY BULLET – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
DREAM I CAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: ASAHI BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1609M
 
LUVYA BEAK – As apprentice A. Thomson was indisposed and no other apprentice rider was available she was replaced by senior rider P. Cullen.
 
ZELENUS – Stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer P. McGuire was advised he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior the gelding permitted to race again. 
 
PERSISTENT SHADOW – Slow to begin. Held up and unable to improve in the early part of the home straight.
 
CORINTH – Slow to begin.
 
CANDY GIRL – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
GOULDIAN – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
FOLLOW ON – Shifted wider leaving the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
Race 5: BROWN BROTHERS BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1400M
 
THE GROOM – Shifted out at the start bumping another runner becoming unbalanced and then shifted inwards being buffeted between runners. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
MASONS CHANCE – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Shifted in near the 1000m placing another runner in restricted room.
 
POETIC ATTACKS – Shifted out at the start bumping with another runner.
 
LOVE ME RUBY – Restrained near the 1000m when placed in restricted room by another runner which shifted in.
 
VIA BALCIANO – Began awkwardly.
 
CROCADILE SHOES – Slow into stride.
 
MISTA BUSY – Over-raced for the majority of the race. Had difficulties obtaining clear running from the 400m until leaving the 200m.
 
AGGARWAL – Had difficulties obtaining clear running in the home straight. Steadied off heels approaching the winning post.
 
FINE ‘N’ DEVINE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RUN HOFF RUN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.   
 
Race 6: GJ GARDNER NQ AMATEUR CUP OPEN H’CAP – 2000M
 
HOT SAGA – As apprentice A. Thomson was indisposed and not riding at today’s meeting, Stewards acceded to a request from trainer F. Wieland to allow senior rider N. Yadi to replace apprentice A. Thomson in that he was familiar with the gelding and that the horse can prove difficult to load at the barriers.
 
VASSAL – Slow to begin.
 
ASTORIA – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BOLD AVENUE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
WE JUST LOVE IT – Slow to begin.
 
HOT SAGA – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
FASTNET FLYER – Began awkwardly. Unable to obtain clear running in the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested. 
 
CRAIGLEA CETINA – Raced fiercely approaching the winning post on the first occasion and shifted in crowding another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
EXECUTED – Placed in restricted and had to steadied approaching the winning post on the first occasion.
 
CRIMSON HALO – Momentarily held up for clear running near the 400m.
 
Race 7: WIN TV NQ AMATEUR SPRINT OPEN H’CAP – 1200M
 
SWEET PERFUME – As apprentice A. Thomson was indisposed and no other apprentice rider was available she was replaced by senior rider G. Watson.
 
CRAIGLEA WANDOO – As the gelding had not started for a period of time it was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior the race and was cleared to start.
 
SPACE TIME – Blundered on jumping and lost ground.
 
AIRACOBRA – Began awkwardly and shifted in forcing the runner to its inside inwards. Shifted out slightly approaching the winning post hampering another runner.
 
BULLOIN WOLF – Forced inwards at the start bumping with another runner.
 
SEPTIMO – Shifted out at the start bumping with another runner. Raced fiercely when being restrained in the early and middle stages.
 
IMANUI – Steadied from heels near the 700m.
 
SWEET PERFUME – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MORE THAN A SONG – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GREY MISSILE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MISHANI REDMAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.       
 
PLATINUM TYCOON– Raced wide for the majority of the race. Laid out under pressure near the 200m and when being corrected shifted out hampering another runner.
 
CONFRONTING – Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today rider D. Simmons stated that after beginning awkwardly the gelding raced at the rear of the field and approaching the home turn was awkwardly placed on the heels of tiring runners until having to restrain to work his way outwards near the 200m to obtain clear running when the gelding began to finish the race off well, however was again hampered for clear running approaching the winning post by another runner which shifted out slightly and as such was unable to ride the horse with his usual vigour. His explanation was noted.
