QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB, THURSDAY, 20 FEBRUARY 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT 5/GOOD 4 AT 12 NOON RAIL – 3.5M PENETROMETER – NA OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Cullen Race 1: Totally Work Wear QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m MANOORA PRINCESS – Shifted in on jumping, and became unbalanced. MYSTERY ‘N’ MAGIC – Shifted out on jumping, became unbalanced. Raced greenly under pressure leaving the 100m before being corrected. RIVERSIDE BLUES – Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn. GRACEFUL JEN – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Race 2: Hygain Class 6 Plate – 1400m PROANE – Declared a late scratching at 1.20 pm on veterinary advice after being kicked by another horse during transit to the course. Trainer T. Simmons was advised that she must provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to it being permitted to race again. RED PHANTOM – Slow to begin, and was then unable to muster early speed.THIS GIRL’S ON FIRE – Laid in for a short distance approaching the 950m, despite the efforts of rider B. Thomson, crowding a runner to its inside.BUSTER BLOCK – Had to be restrained approaching the 950m when crowded by another runner which laid in. BRYAN’S BABE – Stewards questioned apprentice E. Cass in the presence of stable representative Mr R. Ryan into the tactics adopted on the mare today, particularly in the middle stages where the mare led by a considerable margin, also into the reasons she was looking behind during the race. Mr Ryan stated that the instructions were to begin well and ride patiently in the early and middle stages. Miss Cass advised that in hindsight she may have erred when the horse was travelling so well and agreed that she could have shown more patience. She also agreed with the stewards’ comments to look forward and to keep her horses balanced in similar circumstances. Race 3: Civil Plus Construction QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1200m GOTTA BE B ETTER – Slow to begin. FLYING SARA – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. DANCE AROUND – Slow to begin. SHE’S A STUNNER – After being slow to begin was then tightened for room by another runner, which shifted in, and lost ground. DIVINE MELODY – Shifted in on jumping, tightening a runner to its inside. HARRY ROCKET – Began awkwardly. NEW SECRET – Shortly after the start shifted in abruptly, inconveniencing another runner. Shifted in near the 900m and raced ungenerously when crossed by another runner. GOOD AS A ROCKET – Steadied near the 900m when crowded for room by another runner, which shifted out. Race 4: Ede Events Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1200m HUTCHO – Slow to begin. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages, forcing another runner wide. Rider L. Tilley was advised to make a greater effort to keep his mounts straight in similar circumstances. INVISIBLE GIRL – Slow to begin. GINGERSNAP – Began awkwardly. ADDICTED – Dwelt at the start. ELLE A WALKING – Forced wider over the concluding stages by another runner, which shifted out. AS YAWOOD – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 5: Logistics NQ Rating Band 0 - 60 H’cap – 1400m TALK ABOUT A SAGA – Slow to begin. CRAIGLEA SIMMO – Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner near the 250m, which shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the race. EPHESIAN – Slow to begin. Shifted in when improving forward, tightening another runner near the 1200m. Rider S. Wiseman was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to prevent her mount from shifting ground in similar circumstances. GRAZIE MILLE BELLA – Tightened for room near the 1200m by another runner, which shifted in, having to be steadied. WHILE WE CAN – Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 250m, bumping with another runner. JUSTALAD – Slow to begin. HIGH DIVE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 6: Caltex Yabulu Benchmark 72 H’cap – 1000m DISTRICT – Slow to begin. MISS DEFIANCE – Slow to begin. OUR RECIPE – Began awkwardly. RULER – Shifted inwards on jumping, bumping with another runner. CRIMSON HALO – Bumped by another runner on jumping and became unbalanced and lost ground. EL SHADAY – Shifted in of its own accord near the 700m, making contact with the running rail. Race 7: Feed ‘To’ Go Ratings Band 0-55 H’cap – 1000m BETTAHONEY – Began awkwardly. AMULETO – Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner on jumping and lost ground. Was unable to obtain clear running in the home straight and went to the post without being fully tested. CHEERS JOYC E – Jumped inwards at the start, bumping with another runner. Improved onto heels leaving the 500m and had to be restrained. WRITTEN IMAGE – Tightened for room when bumped by another runner, became unbalanced and shifted in, making contact with a runner to its inside. CANDY GIRL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
