GENERAL
Townsville 20th February, 2020
On Wednesday 26th February, 2020 Trainer Mr P Cullen advised Stewards that Buster Block which competed in Race 2 the Class 6 Plate over 1400m had made a slower than normal post-race recovery and would be turned out for a minimum of one month prior to resuming training.
Race 1 – QTIS JEWEL QUALIFIER TWO-YEARS-OLD PLATE 1200m
PRINCESS RULES- Fractious in the barrier.
CLEAVER GREENE- Began awkwardly. Buffeted between runners soon after jumping. Raced greenly passing the 1000m inconveniencing another runner. Over-raced in the middle stages. Shifted in under pressure near the 100m having to be restrained off the heels of a runner to its inside.
MANOORA PRINCESS- Fractious in the barrier. Began awkwardly. Had to be restrained off the heels of another runner, which was racing greenly near the 1000m. Restrained again after improving onto heels near the 800m. On return to scale Rider Miss B Thomson advised the filly got its tongue over the bit shortly after entering the home straight and was unable to be fully tested. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
TENNESSEE BOY- Over-raced in the middle stages.
Race 2 – GRACIE SIGNS MAIDEN PLATE 1400m
The start of this race was delayed due to bridle having to be refitted on STREET ROGUE prior to the start.
STREET ROGUE- Trainer J Manzelmann advised his instructions were for the gelding to be ridden more conservatively from the wide barrier. Patrons were advised by way of on-course public announcement. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Taken wider by another runner passing the 600m and travelled wide from that point. Laid-in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey L Dillon pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use the whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m. Jockey Dillon’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence 13/03/2020 up to and including 22/03/2020. This will be served after the completion of a previous suspension for a breach under the same rule.
LORMEZ LOVE- Slow away.
 
MOSEF- Slow away. Retired from the race passing 500m due to the bit shifting in the horse’s mouth rendering it difficult to control. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr M Geaney advised he intends to experiment with gear prior to next start,
 
ACCORDIAN- Hung-out rounding the home turn. Trainer F Weiland was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily before again being permitted to start in a race.
 
MIZ MACEY- On returning to scale was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. This being the 1st episode Trainer M Jokic was advised the mare would incur the mandatory 3 month ban from racing and be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward before again being permitted to start in a race.
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable Stewards and connections of MOSEF to view footage of the start in order to determine whether the gelding had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the footage all parties were satisfied and correct weight was declared on the judges numbers.
Race 3 – BROWN BROTHERS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1609m
 
DORDOGNE- Slow away.
RED PHANTOM- Slow away
SIMPLY MARVELOUS- Slow away
EMSHALKY-Raced wide around the first turn in order to improve and take up the lead.
DONAVIA- Restrained near the 1200m to obtain a position closer to the running rail.
DOSSIER - Hung-out rounding the home turn.
Race 4 – MACKEY WALES LAW 40TH BIRTHDAY OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
SPACE TIME- Slow away. Shifted wider passing the 1000m to obtain the lead.
SWEET SURPRISE- Over-raced middle stages.
SOUND INVESTMENT- Slow away.
DISTRICT- Over-raced from a wide position in the middle stages. Shifted out abruptly passing the 300m hampering another runner before being quickly straightened. Restrained passing the 200m when another runner shifted in before being straightened.
WINDMILL LANE- Restrained passing the 800m when racing in restricted room to the inside of other runners. Shifted in under pressure passing the 200m causing another runner to be restrained before straightening. Jockey Miss R Payne was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident.
Race 5 – PAYNTERS CLASS 2 PLATE 1200m
CANDY GIRL- Slow away. Jockey Miss R Payne pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) the particulars being that passing the 100m she did direct her mount into an extremely doubtful run to the inside of TARTUFO BIANCO and subsequently had to severely check as a result. Jockey Payne’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence 08/03/2020 up to and including 15/03/2020.
AROHA TE MANA- Slow away.
MARCHING ORDERS- Slow away.
GRAZIE MILE BELLA- Shifted out on jumping tightening another runner.
COURAGEOUS CHLOE- Shifted in on jumping tightening another runner. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay-in throughout the home straight.
INTENSE FOCUS- Tightened between runners on jumping. Shifted in passing the 200m inconviencing another runner which had to be restrained. Jockey S Wilson was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident.
MAKING SHADOWS- Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Restrained momentarily when racing in restricted room passing the 800m.
 
J’ADORE- Raced wide for the majority. Restrained and shifted out to avoid the heels of another runner which shifted in.
 
Race 6 – GRANITE VALE STATION BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000m
 
VALUATE- As the mare was resuming after an extended absence from racing, underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was declared fit to start.
 
OUT PATIENT- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
NOBLE HUSSLER-Slow away. Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide the majority.
 
ARNHEM BEAUTY-Slow away. Raced wide middle stages.
 
SHROUDED-Slow away. Raced wide the majority. Was inconvenienced when racing in restricted room near the 200m.
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow the rider of THE GROOM App. R Shred to view the official photo. After viewing the photo App. Shred was satisfied and correct weight was declared on the judges numbers.
