Cullen SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From Charters Towers Saturday 7 March 2020 – On Sunday 8.3.20 trainer R. Nelson contacted stewards to advise that RAPT IN RUMBA, which competed in Race 5 the Somerview Brahmans Open Plate – 1000m, had undergone a veterinary examination on return to its stable in Townsville and was found to be lame in both forelegs. Stewards advised Mr Nelson that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in races. Race 1: SCOOPS FISH & CHIPS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M THE WONDAI WASP – Raced wide throughout. STREET ROGUE – Slow into stride. Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Had to be restrained off heels near the 900m. Bumped with another runner near the 100m. Jockey W. D’Avila was fined $200 for using the whip 8 times prior to the 100m. LADY CARRERA – Bumped with another runner near the 100m. SCARAMOUCHE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. SILENTUS – Slowly into stride. BELAR BLUE – Jockey G. Goomany reported that the gelding had hung out from the 500m to the winning post, proving difficult to ride. Trainer S. Royes was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Race 2: TONY FRASER BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1609M STONE WARRIOR – Slowly away. ELLE A WALKING – Commenced to race ungenerously from the 1300m, racing wide for the remainder of the event. Had to be restrained approaching the 1200m to avoid the heels of DON’T WE LOVE IT, which shifted out marginally. DON’T WE LOVE IT – Had to be checked and commenced to overrace approaching the 1400m and shortly after had to be restrained off the heels of DORDOGNE. Shifted out marginally near the 1200m, inconveniencing another runner. DORDOGNE – Commenced to race ungenerously approaching the 1400m and shifted in marginally, taking DOSSIER in on to the running of DON’T WE LOVE IT, which had to be restrained and commenced to overrace. Restrained passing the 1200m to obtain a position closer to the running rail. CORINTH – Difficult to load, delaying the start. Trainer S. Massingham was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. TALK ABOUT A SAGA – Slowly away.MUSTARRID – Jockey C. Jokic was fined $200 for using the whip 8 times prior to the 100m. Race 3: TAB DOWNLOAD THE APP QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M AWARE OF STYLE – Slowly away. HIGHER REALM – Inconvenienced near the 900m by a runner to its inside which shifted out. ROYAL RUSKI – Bumped with another runner on jumping. PAMILL – Shifted out near the 900m, inconveniencing a runner to its outside. CRAIGLEA COURTNEY – Shifted out marginally near the 800m inconvenienced another runner. SASSI ASSASSIN – Inconvenienced near the 800m by another runner which shifted out. Race 4: HYGAIN QTIS 3YO CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1000M KODAI – Slowly away. Shifted out marginally after brushing the running rail near the 800m. MAGIC DESERT MOON – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Improved to the outside of a runner which was overracing approaching the 800m, placing that runner in restricted room. Jockey S Wilson reported the filly had got its tongue over the bit in running. Trainer P Rowe advised he will consider a gear change prior to next start. MALVAGIO – Slowly away. FAST CHIPS – Commenced to lose ground near the 750m and was eased out of the race near the 600m as Jockey R. Payne was concerned the gelding may have gone amiss. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer A. Bailey was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next start. NOBODY BETTER – Lost ground approaching the 800m when placed in restricted room between runners whilst overracing. CRAIGLEA CRUELLA – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with another runner. BET ON LOVE – Held up for clear running for a short distance near the 350m. Race 5: TROPICAL PACKAGING RATINGS BAND 0 – 69 H'CAP – 1000M BUON NATALE – Slowly away. MASTER AGAR - Raced three wide for the majority of the event. CRAIGLEA ARION – Began awkwardly. Had to be checked and lost its rightful running passing the 400m. W. D’Avila, the rider of BUON NATALE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that passing the 400m, when attempting to improve around the heels of ROCKETHEAD, he directed his mount out when insufficiently clear of CRAIGLEA ARION, causing interference to that runner. Jockey W. D’Avila’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight Saturday 21 March and expire at midnight Sunday 29 March 2020. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey D’Avila’s forthright evidence and guilty plea. Race 6: TRAVEL ASSOCIATES BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1300M ZAMEX – Slow into stride. MASON’S CHANCE – Overraced in the early stages. CRIMSON HALO – Taken wider near the 500m in order to improve. BEST HOFFA – Began awkwardly. Jockey F. Edwards was fined he sum of $200 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram over the horse’s allotted weight. DISTRICT – Slow into stride. Overraced in the early and middle stages. CAPTAINS WAY – Overraced in the early stages. Race 7: SKY RACING CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1400M CAPTAIN TOM – Slowly away after standing flat-footed as the barriers opened. Trainer Ms T. Simmons was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain one further barrier certificate prior to its next start. OSMOND – Raced wide for the majority of the event. DANCE AROUND – Commenced to buck approaching the 1350m, having to be eased out of the race at that point. Trainer Ms J. Hassett was advised that the filly would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next start. CHANDON KISSES – Had to be restrained off heels passing the 700m. Jockey P Cullen pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct under the provisions of AR228 in that he did use obscene language in an audible manner on returning to the mounting enclosure and when addressing Stewards outside the male jockeys room and again in the Stewards room.
