GENERAL
As Jockey A Holt was unable to attend the race meeting due to illness, replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary. Mr Holt was advised a medical clearance would be required prior to him resuming race riding.

Race 1: EDE EVENTS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1609m

LEFKAS ISLAND - Prior to the commencement of the race meeting connections advised that, should circumstances permit, the intention would be to have the gelding ridden more conservatively early from its wide barrier, than at recent starts. This information was relayed to punters via on-course public address and social media. Was ridden accordingly.

NEWSTEAD – Slow to begin. Checked when tightened for room near the 200m between PRETTY MAMA which shifted out and REEF MASTER which shifted in.

SIR VAN DYKE – Raced wide in the early stages. Bumped heavily and became unbalanced having to be checked when tightened for room near the 200m between PRETTY MAMA which shifted out and REEF MASTER which shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lacerations to both front legs.

AUTMED – Raced wide in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages of the race.

PRETTY MAMA – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 900m. Rider Z. White was found guilty of a careless riding charge under AR131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift out under riding near the 200m when not clear of SIR VAN DYKE and NEWSTEAD which both had to be checked when tightened for room. Stewards deemed this incident mid-range and took into consideration other factors relating to this incident. Ms White’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 13th July and expire midnight 26th July 2020.

REEF MASTER – Rider G Goomany pleaded guilty to a charge of a careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in under riding near the 200m when not clear of NEWSTEAD and SIR VAN DYKE which resulted in both horses being tightened for room and having to be checked. Stewards deemed this incident mid-range and took into consideration other factors relating to this incident. Jockey Goomany’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 11th July and to expire midnight 23rd July 2020.

Race 2: CUB RATINGS BAND 0-65 HANDICAP 1000m

STAR BANNER – Was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 11.36am after taking charge of its rider during its preliminary and galloping some. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on STAR BANNER be refunded, with the following deductions to apply
31 cents in the dollar for the win bet #5
17 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #5
22 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
26 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #9

MISTA BUSY – Slow to begin.

SOLOMON – Fractious in barriers prior to the start and was slow to begin. Tightened for room a short distance after the start by SET TO SIZZLE which was forced inwards and checked and lost ground.

DOUBLE DENMAN – Laid in shortly after the start.

FLYING MAGIC – Laid in shortly after the start crowding OUR RECIPE.

OUR RECIPEI - Shifted in and away from FLYING MAGIC which laid in shortly after the start bumping SET TO SIZZLE which in turn shifted in tightening the running of SOLOMON which was checked.

SANTISIMO – Over-raced in the middle stages.

DUNATUN – Restrained off heels near the 450m.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to Good 4.

Race 3: WIN NEWS OPEN HANDICAP 1000m

BEAU JET – Slow to begin.

PERFECT KNOWLEDGE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages of the race.

BRYAN’S BABE – Slow to begin.

SPACE TIME – Slow to begin.

OUR ALICIA’S LANE – Began awkwardly, Raced wide for the majority of the race.

EL TORANADO – Had a tendency to lay in from the 800m until near the 400m proving difficult to ride.

Race 4: THE HUNTING HOUSE QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1300m

EL OF A SAGA – Slow to begin.

MYZABOOM – Jumped outwards bumping FAMILY STAR.

FAMILY STAR – Was bumped on jumping by MYZABOOM which jumped outwards. Over-raced in the early stages. Trainer J Caught advised Stewards it is now his intention that the gelding be sent for an immediate spell.

MIANU – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages of the race.

HIT SNOOZE – Over-raced in the early stages of the race.

CHEESE BURGER – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.

Stewards will inquire at a date to be fixed into the reason why LADY YENDOR lost its position near the 800m.

Race 5: WILSON/RYAN/GROSE LAWYERS QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1200m

PRINCESS GLEE, due to a printing error, was not included as a runner in the official race program. An announcement to this effect was made via on-course public address.

KAORU PRINCESS – Prior to the commencement of the race meeting connections advised that, should circumstances permit, the intention would be to have the filly ridden more conservatively early than at recent starts. This information was relayed to punters via on-course public address and social media. Was ridden accordingly.
Threw its head in the air for a short distance after the start when being restrained to gain cover.

MYSTERY ‘N’ MAGIC – Slow to begin.

PRINCESS GLEE – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels near the 600m having to be restrained.

BETTER THAN SILVER – Raced wide in the early stages of the race.

Race 6: PICKERINGS AUTO GROUP MAIDEN PLATE 1200m

KING’S KNIGHT – Shifted in soon after the start when improving forward crowding runners to its inside. Rider P. Romeo was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care.

THE WAITERS EYE – Crowded for room shortly after the start and was steadied.

SO SURREEL – Crowded for room shortly after the start and was steadied.

TICKET TO INDIA – Crowded for room shortly after the start and was steadied. Shifted out to obtain clear running leaving the 300m tightening runners to its outside. Rider N. day was reprimanded and advised to show greater care when shifting ground.

TOTAL DISTAIN – Shifted out near the 300m tightening REBEL LUCK which had to be steadied. Rider F. Edwards was reprimanded and advised to show greater care. A short distance later had to be steadied away from the heels of TICKET TO INDIA which shifted out.

REBEL LUCK – Disappointed for a run near the 300m having to steadied.

KILKENNY LAD – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

TOSCAVALE ROAD – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 7: CHANNEL & OPEN HANDICAP 1609m

SCHERZOSO - Prior to the commencement of the race meeting connections advised that, should circumstances permit, the intention would be to have the gelding ridden more conservatively early than at recent starts. This information was relayed to punters via on-course public address and social media. Was ridden accordingly.

MUSTARRID – Slow to begin. Hung in for a short distance after the start. Laid in leaving the 1000m crowding LADY SKILLS. Compounded badly rounding home turn hampering BUXTON. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

BUSTER BLOCK – Raced wide in the early stages. Shifter wider leaving the 600m and raced wide from that point onwards.

BUXTON – Hampered by a tiring runner approaching the 400m. Trainer L. Donovan and rider C. Cass were both fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR106 in that the horse was presented to the enclosure with its incorrect saddle cloth number and having to be resaddled.

BEST HOFFA – Raced wide in the early stages of the race.

Race 8: DIAGEO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400m

HUTCHO – Prior to the race connections advised that, should circumstances permit, the intention would be to have the gelding ridden in a more forward position from its wide barrier, than at recent starts. This information was relayed to punters via on-course public address and social media. Was ridden accordingly. .

STYLISH LUCK – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

FUNKY MUSIC – Slow to begin.

PURE HAWK – Slow to begin.

SOLDIERS – Commenced to over race near the 800m and shifted out abruptly hampering BROMES.

BROMES – Hampered near the 800m by SOLDIERS which shifted out abruptly when over racing.

MASKING – Over-raced in the middle stages.

BORELLA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

GUANGZHOU – Raced for the majority of the race.

STAR SILK – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 9: GRANT BROADCASTERS RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP (1) 1200m

FERINGO – Slow to begin.

SFILZA – Began awkwardly then raced fiercely and shifted out hampering GOOD CATCH and as a result raced wide for the majority of the race. A post veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

GOOD CATCH – Momentarily hampered shortly after the start by SFILZA which shifted out when racing fiercely.

BUON NATALE – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages of the race.

CANDY GIRL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 10: TAB DOWNLOAD THE APP RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP (2) 1200m

FOXY FELINE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

UNSHAKEABLE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Shifted out around heels to obtain clear running near the 300m brushing FORGOTTEN FEELING. Jockey B. Pengelly was reprimanded in that he used his whip in an excessive manner prior to the 100m (7 times).

VEHEMENT – Slow to begin.

SUGAR RAY RED – Slow to begin.

FORGOTTEN FEELING – Slow to begin. Brushed by UNSHAKEBALE which shifted out near the 300m.

EVIL EYE MAC – Shifted in on jumping bumping REAGAN. Jockey F. Edwards was reprimanded in that he used his whip in 2 consecutive strides prior to 100m.

REAGAN – Bumped by EVIL EYE MAC which jumped outwards. Was inclined to lay in in the middle stages.

FOXY FELINE – Over-raced for a short distance passing the 900m.

LIFE IN MANHATTAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

THE ABYSS – Rider Z White advised Stewards on returning to scale that she had injured her right foot in the barriers after beginning awkwardly.
