At an inquiry conducted on the 1st October 2020 Trainer T McGovern was fined the sum of $200.00 under the provisions of LR7(b) in that he did ride a horse in a Jumpout at Townsville Turf Club on the morning of 18th September 2020 without the appropriate authorisation to do so. Race 1: WELCOME FAMILIES & GUESTS Class 3 Handicap 1400 metres BORELLA- Bumped by another runner which shifted out on jumping. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. App M Potgieter advised that the gelding resented his early efforts to restrain in an effort to obtain cover in a rearward position and when asked for an effort in the home straight responded only fairly. Trainer R Chillemi advised that, in his opinion the gelding would be better suited to races over further distances. Stewards noted the explanations. MOSS THE BOSS- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. SHES NIC’N OFF- Raced keenly for a short distance passing the 900m when the pace slackened. HADRIAN- Settled further forward than expected. Jockey A Butler advised that his instructions had been, as they had been previously on the gelding, to endeavour to settle in a forward position and after beginning reasonably well urged his mount forward and settled just behind the leader. Trainer J Wehlow verified the instructions and stated that the riding instructions for the gelding have always been to be positive but due to varying circumstances it has often been forced to settle further back than he would have liked. Stewards noted the explanations and advised Trainer Wehlow they would expect to see a concerted effort for the gelding to be ridden in a positive manner going forward.Race 2: TOWNSVILLE FAMILY LIFE QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1300 metresSHARINDI- As the filly had raced on the 29th September 2020 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly. Inclined to over-race in the middle stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Race 3: TTC FAMILY RACEDAY Maiden Plate 1400 metresBATTLE MOUNTAIN- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Brushed by another runner which shifted out passing the 100m. Raced wide throughout. HERSHISER- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Shifted in and away from another runner which shifted in passing the 150m. NOIR JACK- Bumped with another runner on jumping causing its rider to become momentarily unbalanced.MURTALLICA- Bumped with another runner on jumping causing its rider to become momentarily unbalanced. RICH PRINCESS- Inclined to over-race for a short distance approaching the 1000m. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running, shifting in passing the 100m momentarily hampering a runner to its inside. Trainer T Comerford was advised a warning would be placed on the mares racing manners. LIGHT FIELD- Commenced to hang out from the 700m, shifting very wide rounding the home turn. Trainer K Sheargold was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. NALSSENDORI- Shifted out passing 200m making contact with another runner. Settled further back than expected. Jockey A Butler stated that from the wide barrier his instructions had been to endeavour to obtain a position near the inside running rail and just off the pace however, after beginning only fairly and with the likely prospect of being caught wide he elected to restrain in an effort to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail with cover. Trainer J Caught verified the instructions. Stewards noted the explanations. Race 4: SATURDAY NIGHT @ THE WINNING POST Class 6 Handicap 1000 metresLET’S CHEER AGAIN- Began very awkwardly and lost ground. ROTHMAN- Over-raced for a short distance passing the 600m. ROSE CLIP- Raced wide throughout. EXCEEDING ASSASIN- Jockey B Thomson was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that she did use her whip in an excessive manner (15 times) throughout the event. Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow for Jockey B Thomson and App M Potgieter, riders of 2nd place getter EXCEEDING ASSASIN and 1st place getter MICAWBER respectively, to view the photo finish. After both parties viewed the official photo and were satisfied with the result correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers. Race 5: TAB LIVE SKY RACING VISION RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1609 metresMAINSHAFT- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. MISPRINT- After beginning only fairly was ridden vigorously in an effort to obtain a forward position but failed to muster the early speed necessary and settled in a rearward position. FERINGO- Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer R Long advised connections would now consider the geldings immediate racing future, none the less, Trainer Long was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. CHIC SOX- Over-raced momentarily when crossed by another runner passing the 1500m. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running proving difficult to ride out over the concluding stages. Trainer A Molino was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners.TOKAI MEIGETSU- Raced wide early. CANDY GIRL- Raced wide early. TRIGGER- Inclined to over-race for a short distance when the pace slackened approaching the 1000m. DANZ THE MAN- Shifted wider in an effort to improve passing the 600m. UPPER DELIGHT- Jockey A Butler was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he did use his whip in an excessive manner (16 times) throughout the event. Race 6: TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1200 metresURBAN MYTH- Shifted in on jumping tightening another runner. PANTONE- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Obliged to ease momentarily approaching the 1000m when runners to its outside shifted in.SPLENDARAMA- Buffeted between runners on jumping. Shifted in and away from another runner which shifted in marginally approaching the 1000m. Inclined to over-race for a short distance passing the 800m.HIGH I CUE- Slow to begin. Bumped with another runner passing the 200m. Raced wide throughout.METRO MISSILE- Began awkwardly. Struggled to maintain contact with the field throughout and finished off disappointingly. Trainer K Russell undertook to advise Stewards should anything become apparent regarding the mares condition in coming days.FUTURE DREAMS- Shifted in marginally when improving approaching the 1000m momentarily tightening runners to its inside. Jockey J Stanley was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR131. On returning to scale Jockey Stanley reported that his mount was inclined to hang out throughout, particularly when placed under pressure down the running, consequently placing him at a disadvantage. OCTOBER STORM- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced wide throughout.ANNE CATHERINE- Bumped with another runner passing the 200m.
