Race 1: WELCOME FAMILIES & GUESTS Class 3 Handicap 1400 metres

BORELLA- Bumped by another runner which shifted out on jumping. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. App M Potgieter advised that the gelding resented his early efforts to restrain in an effort to obtain cover in a rearward position and when asked for an effort in the home straight responded only fairly. Trainer R Chillemi advised that, in his opinion the gelding would be better suited to races over further distances. Stewards noted the explanations.

MOSS THE BOSS- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner.

SHES NIC’N OFF- Raced keenly for a short distance passing the 900m when the pace slackened.

HADRIAN- Settled further forward than expected. Jockey A Butler advised that his instructions had been, as they had been previously on the gelding, to endeavour to settle in a forward position and after beginning reasonably well urged his mount forward and settled just behind the leader. Trainer J Wehlow verified the instructions and stated that the riding instructions for the gelding have always been to be positive but due to varying circumstances it has often been forced to settle further back than he would have liked. Stewards noted the explanations and advised Trainer Wehlow they would expect to see a concerted effort for the gelding to be ridden in a positive manner going forward.

LIGHT FIELD- Commenced to hang out from the 700m, shifting very wide rounding the home turn. Trainer K Sheargold was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

NALSSENDORI- Shifted out passing 200m making contact with another runner. Settled further back than expected. Jockey A Butler stated that from the wide barrier his instructions had been to endeavour to obtain a position near the inside running rail and just off the pace however, after beginning only fairly and with the likely prospect of being caught wide he elected to restrain in an effort to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail with cover. Trainer J Caught verified the instructions. Stewards noted the explanations.
