GENERAL
 
As Jockey B Thomson was injured and unable to fulfil her engagements rider replacements were made as per the Stewards race day summary.
 
Race 1: 3CSR QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1000m
 
BOOMED- Slow into stride. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Shifted out passing the 600m bumping with another runner.
 
SHRECK- Slow into stride. Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
ETERNAL BEAN- Began awkwardly and shifted out taking another runner wider.
 
DESTROY THE STAR- Began awkwardly and was bumped by another runner which shifted out on jumping. Bumped by another which shifted out passing the 600m. Jockey W D’Avila was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(i) in that he did use his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m. Trainer S D’Avila advised the gelding would now be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
KEYS PLEASE- Raced awkwardly rounding the home turn. 
 
Race 2: JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m
 
SHE’S A SINNER- Was declared a late scratching at 1:35pm on veterinary advice after the mare was found to have sustained a head laceration. All monies invested on mare were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1:35pm were as follows:
 
17 cents in the dollar on the face value of all successful win bets.
 
15 cents in the dollar on the face value of all successful place bets.
 
Trainer S D’Avila was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
FOXY SECRET- Shifted in on jumping bumping with another runner.
 
BORROMEO- Taken in by another runner on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
WHISPER GIRL- Began awkwardly, shifted out marginally soon after jumping.
 
MARVELLOUS HEART- Soon after jumping became awkwardly placed on the heels of WHISPER GIRL, blundered and lost ground as a result. Hung out on entering the home turn.
 
GLITTER PRINCESS- Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
RICH PRINCESS- Bumped with another runner soon after jumping.
 
SOUL SEARCHER- Raced keenly in the early stages. Commenced to race ungenerously when crowded for room passing the 950m, shifted in and tightened another runner.
 
BRANDS HATCH- Inclined to lay in passing the 950m crowding a runner to its inside.
 
WHISPER GIRL- Tightened for room and obliged to check passing the 950m when runners to its outside shifted in. Commenced to lose ground passing the 500m and tired noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BOCHY- Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 3: BROWN BROTHERS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000m
 
STAR BANNER- Began awkwardly. Inclined to race keenly in the early stages. Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out to avoid heels passing the 850m.
 
THE THICK OF IT- Inclined to over-race in the early stages when crossed by another runner. Inclined to hang out passing the 850m inconveniencing runners to its outside. Obliged to steady passing the 150m when runners to its outside shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination found the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the first such occurrence, acting under the provisions of AR79, Trainer M Whitehouse was advised the gelding would incur a 3 month ban from racing and be subject to a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
TELL EVERYBODY- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to start. The start was further delayed when the mare was re-saddled behind the barriers. Shifted out to avoid the heels of another runner which was hanging out passing the 850m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have lost a tooth in running.
 
DOUBLE MAJOR- Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out passing the 850m.
 
INVINCIBLE TAMMY- Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out passing the 850m. When attempting to secure a marginal run was obliged to shift in and restrain to avoid the heels of another runner which shifted in under pressure.
 
SERBELLONI- Shifted in passing the 150m tightening another runner. Inclined to lay out throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the first such occurrence, acting under the provisions of AR79, Trainer C Spry was advised the gelding would incur a 3 month ban from racing and be subject to a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
OUR RECIPE- Raced wide throughout.
 
PRESIDENTIAL JOY- Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: TOWNSVILLE CENTRAL ROTARY CLUB QTIS 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m
 
MRS SHMICKELBERG- Stewards permitted the scratching of the filly at 7:38am when no suitable rider was available.
 
OUR GIRL JACQUIE- Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
TWURKENITUP- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Tired noticeably and finished tailed off. Trainer G Horner was advised that the filly’s nominations at TAB race meetings would now be refused until satisfactory country form has been established.
 
BIKIE CHIC- Tightened between runners on jumping. Raced in restricted room for some distance after.
 
BETTER THAN THAT- Slow into stride. Tightened between runners on jumping. Raced in restricted room for some distance after.
 
ROLL THE BEANS- Bumped by another runner which shifted in on jumping.
 
DELAGOS GIRL- Began awkwardly. Commenced to race erratically after being restrained passing the 800m and shifted in tightening another runner before being corrected by its rider.
 
GUSTNADO- Obliged to check when a runner to its outside shifted in when being restrained passing the 800m.
 
COLLOMBATTI- Inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running.
 
PRINCESS GLEE- Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 5: CORAL COAST SHIELD QUALIFIER FILLIES & MARES CLASS 6 PLATE 1400m
 
DON’T DOUBT MAEVE- Fractious in the barrier. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained an injury to the off foreleg. Trainer T Simmons was advised a veterinary clearance is required prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
SWEET PERFUME- Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner. Raced wide in the early stages. Jockey G Kliese advised that, in his opinion, the mare failed to see out the 1400m of today’s event. Stewards also noted that the mare was having its second race start since resuming from a spell and was stepping up considerably in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CANDY GIRL- Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner.
 
EMSHALKY- Struggled to obtain clear running for a majority of the home straight.
 
OUR CHIQUILLA- Held up for clear running for a short distance when rounding the home turn. Jockey B Pengelly advised that, in his opinion, the mare failed to see out the distance of todays event.
 
DOUBLE DENMAN- Raced wide in the early stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance Jockey C Jokic advised that, in her opinion, the mare appreciated the step up in distance. Trainer L Gordy concurred and advised that he was expecting an improved performance today after running well when caught wide last start.
 
Race 6: CORAL COAST SHIELD QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1000m
 
SHROUDED- Fractious in the barrier. Held up momentarily on entering the home straight. Shifted out and away from another runner passing the 200m and inconvenienced a further runner to its outside.
 
TAWHIRI- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with another runner. Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out passing the 200m.
 
EL SHADAY- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
POLAR BLAST- Began awkwardly. Restrained early in an effort to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail. Shifted wider from the 400m.
 
PERFECT KNOWLEDGE- Restrained early in an effort to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail. Shifted wider from the 400m.
 
DALON- Inclined to lay in upon entering the home straight and bumped with another runner. Raced wide throughout.
 
KENTUCKY FLYER- Bumped by another runner which was inclined to lay in upon entering the home straight.
 
EL SHADAY- Shifted out marginally passing the 200m inconveniencing another runner.
 
TOY BOY – Trainer W Dale reported the gelding lost its off fore plate in running.
 
Race 7: CORAL COAST SHIELD QUALIFIER / CASTLE HILL OPEN HANDICAP 1609m
 
TEARS TO GLORY- Slow to begin.
 
WE’LL BEAT IT- Hung out rounding the 1400 turn. Jockey P Romeo reported the bit had shifted in the horse’s mouth in running. Trainer B Williams advised he will consider a gear change prior to next race start.
 
PROANE- The start was delayed when the tongue tie required re-fitting at the barriers. Slow to begin. Held up for clear running for the duration of the home straight.
 
BALMACEDA- Laid in upon entering the home straight and inconvenienced another runner.
 
DORDOGNE- Commenced to race ungenerously approaching the 1000m. Obliged to restrain and shift in when a runner to its outside laid in upon entering the home straight.
 
BUSTER BLOCK- Slow to begin.
 
FORTIFICATION- Raced keenly when caught wide in the early stages.
 
KINGSBRIDGE- Raced wide in the early stages.
 
BUXTON- Held up for clear running throughout the home straight until a point near the 100m after shifting wider to obtain clear running.
 
LIVE THE MOMENT- Slow to begin. Held up for clear running throughout the home straight.
 
ROCK SPUR- Slow to begin. Upon the fulfilment of his engagements Jockey Wilson advised he had sustained an injury to his right thigh.

Race 8: CATHY FRIEL PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200m
 
OCTOBER STORM- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
HOWYALIKEMENOW- Slow to begin.
 
SOLOMON- Raced wide throughout.
 
TEMPO- Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
UP THE RIVER- Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner which shifted out on entering the home straight.
 
ISILMO- Slow to begin.
 
FAIRFACTS- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced wide throughout.
 
BULLET STORM- Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner on jumping. Shifted out to obtain clear running on entering the home straight and in doing so bumped with a runner to its outside. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance Trainer A Bailey advised that, in his opinion, the gelding, which was having its second start for the stable, appreciated the step up in distance today, as well as the more spacious circuit.
 
WRITER’S BLOCK- shifted in and bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
GRACIOUS GARCON- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with another runner.
 
SIZZLESUN- Bumped by another runner which shifted out on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
