Race 8: VERY CASUAL EVENTS CLASS 5 PLATE
 
DISCO MO - Following a review of race day footage it was determined that Jockey J Stanley’s breach of AR132(7)(a)(ii) involved his use of the whip on 6 occasion prior to the 100m rather than on 7 occasions. Jockey Stanley’s charge was summarily amended to reflect this.
 
Race 1: NORTHERN AIR CLASS 5 PLATE 1400m
 
ABERRATION - Slow into stride. Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed bruising to the right eye.
 
UNSHAKEABLE - Bumped with another runner soon after jumping.
 
TUNERO - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inclined to layout under pressure down the running.
 
HEY PAL - Jockey J Stanley reported that his mount had been inclined to layout under pressure rounding the home turn and down the running.
 
Race 2: OYSTER COMPANY AUSTRALIA MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m
 
NEW YORK POET - Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly.
 
SNEAKY GAL - Began awkwardly.
 
POTAWATOMI - Began awkwardly. Restrained rounding the home turn in order to take advantage of an inside run.
 
WRONGLY ACCUSED - Began awkwardly. Bumped with another runner passing the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near hind coronet.
 
STARS AT WAR - Raced wide from the 800m. Jockey G Kliese advised that, in his opinion, the gelding did not appreciate today’s softer going.
 
EXPOSED SECRET - Bumped with another runner passing the 200m.
 
BORROMEO - Bumped by another runner and became momentarily unbalanced leaving the 200m. Raced wide the majority.
 
MUZANBOAL ROGUE - Shifted in abruptly under pressure passing the 200m bumping with another runner before being quickly corrected. Jockey N Day accidentally dropped his whip in the vicinity of the 100m.
 
HOTBOSSAN - Raced wide throughout.
 
MARVELLOUS HEART - Raced wide throughout.
 
SHADOW ECLIPSE - Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: WILD GRAVITY OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
 
Prior to the running of this event the track rating was downgraded to a Soft 7.
 
BEST HOFFA - Began awkwardly. Jockey F Edwards pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m, 5 more than permitted. Jockey Edwards’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence 27th of February 2021 up to and including 5th March 2021. Jockey Edwards was advised of his right to an internal review.
 
KENTUCKY FLYER - Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
TWO OF A KIND - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Jockey D Smith was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
Race 4: VIP PACKAGES AT CLUDEN PARK BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1609m
 
POETIC ATTACKS - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers and was found to have traces of blood in the right nostril. POETIC ATTACKS was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:55pm on veterinary advice. All monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded in full and the following deductions were ordered applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the time of scratching:
 
23 cents in the dollar win / 26 cents in the dollar place 1st placegetter DORDOGNE
21 cents in the dollar 2nd placegetter JEMADAR
 
A further veterinary examination post-race revealed the source of the blood to be a minor laceration high up inside the right nostril.
 
JEMADAR - Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained. Commenced to over-race after being crossed by another runner passing the 1300m and continued to do so until a point near the 800m.
 
DORDOGN E - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
HONEST NATALIE - Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
LEFKAS ISLAND - Jockey N Day reported his mount raced disappointingly and pulled up mildly distressed. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
Race 5: TAB-DOWNLOAD THE APP QTIS 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
 
DELAGO’S GIRL - When Jockey R Wiggins was unable to satisfy the allotted weight Jockey C Whiteley was substituted as the rider of the filly. Jockey R Wiggins was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR190(3). Began awkwardly.
 
AGE OF DAWN - Buffeted between runners soon after the start.
 
GOLD REVENGE - Raced wide throughout.
 
DREAMING HIGH - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
HALF EVIL - Raced wide throughout.
 
BETTER THAN THAT - Raced wide throughout.
 
LA FURIOSO - Hampered by another runner which shifted out passing the 200m.
 
DEADLY DIVA - Shifted out passing the 200m hampering another runner. Jockey D Smith was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Trainer T Comerford advised that the filly which was having its 2nd race start had been pleasing him in its work and the stable had modestly supported it today expecting a forward showing.  
 
Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred passing the 250m. After viewing the patrol footage and taking evidence from the riders involved it was ascertained that at that point of the race PALATE (App R Shred) shifted out marginally under pressure crowding the running of LA FURIOSO (S Wilson), which was attempting an already doubtful run, in turn that runner shifted out encroaching onto the running of ROSE OF ATHENS (App E Cass) which was obliged to restrain and also shift out inconveniencing the running of AGE OF DAWN (C Jokic) which was then. obliged to restrain. As Stewards were unable to attribute culpability to any one rider/s no further action was taken other than to advise all riders to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 6: NQ LICENSED EVENTS RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP (1) 1400m
 
Prior to the running of this event the track rating was downgraded to a Heavy 8.
 
TICKET KEEPER - Dislodged rider App K Swaffer enroute to the barriers and cantered a short distance before being apprehended by the Clerk of the Course. The gelding subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
CRAFTY GIRL - Made the 1000m turn awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor wound to the forehead.
 
INDIAN DANCER - Stood flat-footed as the start was effected losing considerable ground. Trainer T Clive advised of an intention to send the gelding for an immediate spell. Nonetheless, Stewards advised Mr Clive that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
STOLEN DIAMONDS - Shifted in on jumping and bumped with another runner. Raced wide throughout.
 
TRIGGER - Bumped by another runner on jumping and shifted in and bumping with a further runner.
 
SELF IMPOSED - Crowded for room soon after jumping and raced in restricted room for a short distance thereafter.
 
MOVING TARGET - Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner.
 
CORPORAL - Raced wide throughout.
 
PURRFECTIONIST - App E Cass was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 6 times, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
 
 
Race 7: BROWN BROTHERS RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP (2) 1400m
 
YIN AND YANG - Dislodged Jockey B Pengelly on exiting the parade yard and galloped a short distance before being apprehended by the Clerk of the Course. YIN AND YANG was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3.51pm on veterinary advice. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded in full and the following deductions were ordered applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the time of scratching:

13 cents in the dollar 2nd placegetter HEMSTED
13 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter STAR SINGER
 
Trainer W Kenning was advised a warning would be placed on YIN AND YANG’S pre-race manners and a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required before being the gelding’s next race start.
 
 
CONQUERING JUDAS – After becoming fractious in the barriers underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
STAR SINGER – Inclined to over-race when caught wide in the early stages. 
 
MY GIRL POPPY - Shifted out passing the 150m tightening another runner. App E Cass was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident. Raced wide throughout.
 
MURTALLICA - Raced wide from the 800m.
 
WHITTERICK - Obliged to restrain when tightened by another runner which shifted out passing the 150m.
 
FOX STREET – A post-race veterinary examination revealed bruising to the left eye.
 
Race 8: HAPPY 40th VOSSY BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200m
 
RIGEL - Performed below market expectations. Jockey J Stanley advised that, in his opinion, the gelding to not appreciate the heavy going in today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ACADEMY HIL L- Bumped with another runner on jumping. After beginning on terms with the field was unable to muster early pace and assumed a rearward position.
 
SWEET TASTE - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Had to be restrained approaching the 100m when attempting to improve into a run to the inside of another runner which shifted ground when racing greenly.
 
WILLYGOOD - Obliged to restrain off heels passing the 800m. Inclined to shift ground when racing greenly under pressure down the running. Jockey S Wilson was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip on 16 occasions in total throughout the event.
 
BUON NATALE - Inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages. Shited wider near the 800m after restraining off heels.
 
FUTURE DREAMS - Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 9: AROUND THE WORLD NIGHT FRIDAY 26th FEBRUARY CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1000m
 
SANGLIER - Began awkwardly.
 
SIRFINA - Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
COULD YOU BE LOVED - Bumped with another runner on jumping and became momentarily unbalanced. Over-raced in the early stages and when restrained off heels approaching the 800m, shifted out and inconvenienced another runner.
 
CLIFTON COUNTY - Raced wide throughout.
 
RICH PRINCESS - Slow into stride.
 
VIENNA SPIRIT - Bumped with another runner passing the 900m. Inconvenienced approaching the 800m.
 
UTAH GET ME TWO - Bumped with another runner passing the 900m. Inclined to hang in throughout. Raced wide the majority. Jockey J Stanley advised his saddle shifted in running with his efforts to keep his mount racing truly. Trainer S Massingham advised of an intention to experiment with gear going forward. Stewards advised Mr Massingham that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
