QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB TOWNSVILLE – Thursday 8th April 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – OUT 4m ENTIRE COURSEPENETROMETER – 4.5 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P LaneStewards – P Warren, D Griffiths, C Bew, D Lane, C WarrenClerk of Scales – K DeaneJudges – J Carter, M BatesVeterinarian – D VieroSwab Attendant – A LeeStarter – J Cullen GENERALJockey S Sheargold, who advised Stewards prior to the commencement of the race meeting that he would be unable to fulfil his engagements to ride COURTING SARA in Race 1 and SHE’S MAGANDA in Race 7 was fined the sum of $500 under the provisions of AR190(3) and was further directed not to accept rides below 54.5kg until such time as he is able to demonstrate his weight is at a stable level. Replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: BROWN BROTHERS QTIS 3YO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m COURTING SARA - Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. CLEVER HUNTER - Bumped by another runner on jumping. Inclined to shift out under pressure down the running. Trainer T Rowe was of the opinion the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit in running and will experiment with gear prior to next race start. VIZONE- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. CRACKER ESSGEE- Bumped with another runner on jumping. APOLLINE- Inclined to over-race in the middle stages. ROBIG- Shifted wider to improve passing the 600m racing wide from that point onwards. Race 2: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1000m GOLDEN GROOVE - As the filly had raced on the 3/04/2021 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. BOOMED- Very slow to begin. Jockey C Whiteley advised that, in his opinion, the gelding may have resented the addition of the tongue tie today. Trainer R Chillemi advised he would consider experimenting with gear prior to the gelding racing again. Nonetheless, Mr Chillemi was advised the gelding would incur a warning on its barrier manners. INHISTIME- Raced greenly in the middle stages. Raced wide throughout. SHAMARCHIE- Steadied when racing in restricted room passing the 500m. Race 3: NQ LICENSED EVENTS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m C’MON EYELEEN- Delayed the start when proving very difficult to load. Trainer J Russell was advised the gelding would require a further two (2) consecutive barrier certificates prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Slow to begin. TOSCAVALE ROAD- After being kicked by another runner behind the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon and was displaying signs of lameness in the near hind leg. Was declared a late scratching at 2.20pm. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded in full. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to the time of scratching: 6 cents in the dollar for the win7 cents in the dollar for the place of winner6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place8 cents in the dollar for 3rd place Trainer E Sewell was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required pitot to the gelding again being permitted to race again. RUN RAMPANT- Fractious behind the barriers kicking another runner. Fractious in the barrier. Trainer L McCormack was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. ALL BAR SURAH- Fractious in the barrier. HERO’S CHOICE- Raced greenly rounding the home turn. YOU DREAMT WHAT- Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn before commencing to hang in for the majority of the home straight proving difficult for App K Swaffer to ride, only obtaining clear running at a point near the 50m. Trainer T Rowe advised he would experiment with a gear change prior to the gelding racing again. COOP’S STAR- Inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages. Raced wide the majority. AMALFI STAR- Raced wide for the majority. Performed below market expectations. Jockey S Sheargold advised the gelding had raced ungenerously, due in his opinion, to this being its first start on a clockwise circuit. Trainer M McGuire advised he would implement a gear change prior to next race start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 4: TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY CLASS 3 PLATE 1609m TUNERO- As the gelding had raced on the 3/04/2021 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner. Shifted wider from the 500m to improve. CONQUERING JUDAS- Bumped by another runner on jumping. Over-raced for a short distance passing the 1300m. CINNAMON MISSILE- Shifted wider from the 500m to improve. Approaching the 200m the whip became tangled in the reins placing Jockey R Wiggins at a momentary disadvantage. LUCKY FOR SOME- Held up for clear running in the home straight until a point near the 200m. Race 5: SKY RACING CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1000m SOLDIERS- Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until a point near the 250m. REVENIRE- Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner. FUNKY MUSIC- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Brushed the inside running rail passing the 700m and raced awkwardly for a short distance thereafter. DELUXE ROCKER- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced awkwardly for a short distance passing the 700m when a runner to the inside brushed the running rail and shifted out. CHEVAUX- Raced wide the majority. Race 6: TABLONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200m HIGHER REALM- Shifted out on jumping. Raced wide the majority. ASHTON BLAIR- Began awkwardly and shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Jockey F Edwards advised that after it was evident his mount was going to be caught wide approaching the 1000m he elected to restrain in an effort to obtain cover and a position closer to the inside running rail. GUANGZHOU- Slow into stride. Hampered by another runner which shifted out on jumping. LADY YENDOR- Raced wide the majority. GENOA- Performed disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed bruising over the right eye. Race 7: HAPPY EASTER MEMBERS & GUESTS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200m SHE’S MAGANDA- Bumped with another runner approaching the 600m and was inclined to over-race for a short distance thereafter. BORELLA- When the tongue tie, which became loose enroute to the barriers, was unable to be re-fitted, the gelding raced without that piece of gear. Bumped with another runner on jumping. GALAXY GHOST- Slow to begin. Inclined to over-race in the early stages. Obliged to shift out and around the heels of another runner rounding the home turn. BATTLE- Slow into stride. RIGEL- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running. Jockey N Day advised that, in his opinion, the fact the two runners to his outside commenced to over-race from the 800m causing the pace to quicken from that point was telling in the finish with his mount tiring. Trainer S Massingham concurred with Jockey Day’s assessment stating that given the circumstances he was not displeased with the gelding’s performance. HOLLYWOOD DREAMING- Commenced to race fiercely approaching the 1000m until a point near the 650m. Then continued to race ungenerously for some distance thereafter. Raced wide throughout. FLIRTY MCCOY- Raced wide throughout. Race 8: TAB VENUE MODE RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1000m BETTER THAN SILVER- Trainer S D’Avila was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR181 for failing to scratch the filly by the prescribed time. GOLDEN CHARLES- Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. OCTOBER STORM- Raced in restricted room for a short distance soon after the start. JOURNEY OF SONG- Slow to begin. PINNACLE POWER- Jockey S Wilson advised that his mount was inclined to hang out for the majority. BLAZON TALES- Jockey B Thomson advised that the bit pulled through her mount’s mouth soon after entering the home straight placing her at a severe disadvantage. GOLDIE’S ARCHER- Shifted out abruptly soon after the start and was inclined to lay out under pressure down the running. JUST A LOVE SONG- Raced wide throughout. BLUMISS- Raced wide throughout.
