15/04/2021 – Townsville
Race 8: BOOK YOUR EVENT @ CLUDEN PARK BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400m
POETIC ATTACKS - Jockey C Whiteley was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(6)(b) for his use of the whip above shoulder height.
 
Race 1: WELCOME TO CLUDEN PARK QTIS Two-Year Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
KING JESTER – As Jockey R Wiggins was unable to make the allotted weight he was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR190 and subsequently replaced by jockey W D’Avila as the rider of the gelding. Dwelt in the barriers. Obliged to steady after improving onto heels approaching the 900m. Near the 200m was obliged to shift wider to obtain clear running. Jockey W D’Avila reported that gelding raced greenly throughout.
 
HALLSIDE HAMMER – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with another runner. The gelding which was having its first race start tired noticeably over the concluding stages.
 
CHOIR BOY – After being marginally slowly away was tightened soon after jumping, having to be steadied. Obliged to steady again after improving onto heels approaching the 900m.
 
ETERNAL BEAN – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
HUSSETTE – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with another runner. Obliged to steady after improving onto heels approaching the 900m.
 
Race 2: FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA Maiden Handicap 1000m metres
 
RUN RAMPANT – Became cast in the barriers, getting both fore legs over the front gates, and was declared a late scratching on Veterinary advice at 1.05pm. Trainer L McCormack was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start and that a Veterinary clearance would also be required.
 
Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on RUN RAMPANT be refunded in full, and further, that the following deductions be applied to all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the time of scratching:
 
14 cents win and 9 cents place               1st placed TRAPASSI
19 cents place                                        2nd placed NORWEGIAN WOOD
23 cents place                                        3rd placed VALIANT KNIGHT
 
Trainer L McCormack was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next start and that a Veterinary clearance would also be required.
 
BOONA BOY – Extremely fractious in the barrier. Shifted out near the 800m forcing another runner wider. Lost its near hind plate near the 50m. Trainer’s Representative B Gordy was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start.
 
TISAYAC – Near the 950m shifted in when not fully clear of a runner to its inside. Jockey N Thomas was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
ALL BAR SURAH – Near the 950m was momentarily hampered when a runner to its outside shifted in. Raced greenly near the 500m hampering a runner to its outside.
 
ON YOUR SKATES – Shifted in on jumping, becoming unbalanced after making heavy contact with a runner to its inside. Blundered when in clear running near the 900m.
 
VALIANT KNIGHT – Shifted out on jumping becoming unbalanced after making heavy contact with a runner to its outside. Near the 800m was forced wider when a runner to its inside shifted out.
 
GOLD REVENGE – Hampered near the 500m by a runner to its inside which was racing greenly. Raced wide for the majority.
 
DANGERFIELD – Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 400m.
 
TRAPASSI – The gelding, which was resuming following a lengthy absence from racing, underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 200m.
 
Race 3: 2YO CLASSIC FAMILY FUN DAY – SATURDAY 12 JUNE Open Handicap 1609 metres
 
 
MEATBALL – Slowly away. Approaching the 1400m was inconvenienced by a runner to its inside. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
DORDOGNE – Slowly away. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the home turn.
 
JEMADAR – Inclined to over race in the early stages.
 
BEST HOFFA – Shifted out approaching the 1400m inconveniencing a runner to its outside. Shifted wider approaching the 800m and raced wide from that point. App. M Potgieter stated that his instructions were to commence a forward move on the horse in the middle stages, which he attempted to do, but was subsequently caught wide for the remainder of the event, due to the tempo of the race increasing at the same time.
 
CLEO’S POET – Shifted ground outwards under pressure in the home straight. Jockey N Day was reminded of his obligation to stop riding and straighten when his mount is shifting ground.
 
TUNERO – A post-race Veterinary inspection revealed the gelding to have sustained bruising to the right eye in running.
 
Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight App. M Potgieter rider of 2nd placegetter BEST HOFFA requested to view the home straight patrol footage to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge a protest against 1st placed CLEO’S POET (N Day). After viewing the patrol footage App. Potgieter elected not to proceed and Correct Weight was declared on the Judge’s numbers.
 
 
Race 4: BOOK YOUR FUNCTION @ CLUDEN PARK Benchmark 60 Handicap 1609 metres
 
CZECHOSLOVAKIA – App. M Potgieter reported that after being slowly into stride the gelding had not travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, before finishing off fairly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
RICH PRINCESS – Slowly into stride.
 
THAT’S TWO SLABS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
TRUMP ME – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Shifted out under pressure near the 250m.
 
SOLDATI – A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
REBEL LAKE – Stewards questioned App. E Cass, in the presence of her Master Mr F Wieland, in relation to her lack of vigour approaching the winning post. After hearing submissions from both parties and based on their own observations Stewards advised App. Cass that as they could not be completely satisfied her actions had cost REBEL LAKE 1st placing in the event she would be given the benefit of a grave doubt, but nonetheless was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions AR131(b). App. Cass was also fined $200 under the provisions of AR132(6)(a) in that she used her whip forward of her mount’s shoulder on 1 occasion and a further $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on six occasions prior to the 100m. Stewards were considerate of the fact that this was App. Cass’ 7th infringement under AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
Race 5: VISIT US @ WWW.CLUDENPARK.COM.AU QTIS 3-Y-O Plate 1300 metres
 
DEADLY DIVA – Slowly away.
 
WATERWAY – Began awkwardly. Laid in for a stride passing the 900m inconveniencing a runner to its inside.
 
ROBIG – Began awkwardly, shifting out and bumping heavily with a runner to its outside. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SONEYMAR STAR – Was bumped heavily by another runner on jumping.
 
MISS LOT WON – Passing the 900m was inconvenienced when a runner to its outside shifted in. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed mild muscle stiffness in the near hind leg.
 
HIGHER REALM – Shifted out rounding the home turn, in attempt to obtain clear running, bumping with a runner to its outside.
 
TENNESSEE BOY – Was bumped by a runner to its inside rounding the home turn. Stewards questioned jockey B Pengelly in relation to his riding of the gelding over the concluding stages. Jockey Pengelly stated that after making heavy contact with another runner turning for home his saddle shifted which placed him at a slight disadvantage, however in his opinion TENNESSEE BOY was a spent force soon after straightening, so he elected not to pressure the gelding. Stewards noted jockey Pengelly’s explanation and nonetheless reminded him of his obligation to ride his mount out to the finish of the race.
 
Race 6: YLM ACCOUNTING Benchmark 65 Handicap 1300 metres
 
LIFETIME QUEST – The gelding, which underwent a Veterinary examination at the request of Jockey M McGillvray on arrival at the start, was found to be displaying signs of stiffness in the hindquarters and was declared a late scratching at 3.34pm.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on LIFETIME QUEST be refunded in full, and further, that the following deductions be applied to all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the time of scratching:
 
7 cents win and 8 cents place                 1st placed OVERSEAS
8 cents place                                          2nd placed SHEPHERD OF FIRE
9 cents place                                          3rd placed GALAXY GHOST
 
Trainer’s Representative K Walker was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start.
 
SHEPHERD OF FIRE – Shifted out on jumping tightening a runner to its outside. Had to be restrained after the winning post when a forward runner shifted in.
 
BRILLIANT MIND - Had to be restrained after the winning post when a forward runner shifted in.
 
OVERSEAS (NZ) – Tightened by another runner on jumping, losing ground as a result. Shortly after the winning post shifted in resulting in runners to its inside having to be restrained. Jockey C Spry was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
GALAXY GHOST – Tightened between runners on jumping.
 
JIMMY WITH A DASH – Shifted in on jumping bumping with another runner. Raced wide from the 900m.
 
SWEET TASTE – Buffeted between runners soon after jumping. Commenced to lose ground shortly after the start, trailing the field throughout.
 
KEIGHLY SUN – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
ZOUVILLA – Raced wide in the early stages. Jockey S Sheargold reported that the gelding was inclined to lay in down the running.
 
CHINCHINBILLA – Became awkward in its action, when in clear running, passing the 150m shifting in and making contact with the running rail.
 
Race 7: VETTA CREATIVE Class 3 Plate 1000 metres
 
BELLEVITA – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
FRENCH FIZZ – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m laid in inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Approaching the 800m when continuing to lay in inconvenienced a further runner to its inside. App E Cass reported that the mare had hung in for the majority.
 
THE EGYPTIAN – Near the 900m was inconvenienced when a runner to the outside shifted in.
 
SOLDIERS (NZ) – Approaching the 800m was inconvenienced when a runner to the outside shifted in.
 
ENDORSE – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages.
 
PANTONE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
POWER LIFT (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority.
 
HIGH DIVE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 8: ORACLE STUDIO Open Handicap 1000 metres
 
I DID IT AGAIN – Underwent a Veterinary examination upon arrival on course and was found to be lame in the off fore leg. Was declared a late scratching at 2:05pm. As on-course Bookmakers had not commenced betting on the event at the time of scratching no on-course deductions were applicable. Trainer M Bannon was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start.
 
FULL RECOGNITION – Shifted its off fore plate enroute to the barriers. As attempts to refit the plate were unsuccessful the near fore plate was subsequently removed, and the gelding raced barefoot in front. Bumped with a runner to its outside soon after jumping.
 
AHWANEECHEE – Bumped with a runner to its inside soon after jumping.
 
BREAK MY STRIDE – Shifted out on jumping tightening a runner to its outside.
 
BULLION WOLF – Tightened on jumping when a runner to its inside shifted out.
 
BOLD ENDEAVOUR – Began awkwardly.
 
BEAU JET – Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BATTLE CRY – Jockey N Day, who pleaded guilty to a charge under the under the provisions of AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the finish of the race, which in the opinion of Stewards had cost BATTLE CRY 4th placing, was fined the sum of $500. Jockey Day was advised of his right to refer the matter to the Internal Reviewer.
