Race 1: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m

ZABCAN – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. Hung out rounding the home turn. Put in an awkward stride soon after straightening.

VIZONE – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. When questioned into the riding of VIZONE jockey C Spry stated that, although it was not his intention to lead, after beginning positively he was inclined to hold his position, however the gelding commenced to over-race when challenged by ZABCAN. Weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

BOTOX LADY – Over-raced in the early stages.

ON YOUR SKATES – Over-raced in the early stages.

GOLD REVENGE – Raced wide for the majority.

FLAG RAISER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the offside stifle.

Race 2: TOWNSVILLE MINI GOLF BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1609m

ODDFELLOW (NZ) – Slowly away.

LET’S GO BOBBY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Over-raced in the middle stages.

NICE RETORT – Raced keenly for some distance passing the 1400m. Jockey C Spry reported that after racing fiercely in the early stages NICE RETORT was a spent force soon after straightening so he elected not to pressure the gelding over the concluding stages. Nonetheless he was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the end of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

GALAXY GHOST - Jockey G Kliese was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m (6th offence).

Race 3: EVENTS CINEMAS DREAM HORSE JUNE 10 QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1200m

BOONA BOY – Slowly away. Became unbalanced soon after when bumped by another runner. Shifted out and away from another runner soon after straightening inconveniencing a further runner to its outside.

MALACHINI – Slowly away. Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, however Trainer T Rowe reported to Stewards that the gelding was noticeably sore in both forelegs on arrival at his Cairns stabling location. Mr Rowe was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start.

MISS LOT WON – Slowly away.

BETTER THAN SILVER – Began awkwardly shifting in and bumping with another runner. Laid in rounding the home turn. Jockey W D’Avila reported that the filly had gotten its tongue over the bit in the running. Trainer A Molino advised that he would consider a gear change prior to next race start.

CLEAVER GREENE – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

COURTESY BUS – Became unbalanced after bumping with another runner on jumping. Raced wide in the middle stages. Held up for some distance soon after rounding the home turn.

ENDORSE – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Over-raced for some distance when in a 3 wide position in the middle stages. Jockey C Whiteley was of the opinion that the gelding would be better suited over shorter distances at this stage of its racing career.

HIGHER REALM – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Raced wide in the middle stages.

WATERWAY – Had to be restrained after being disappointed when attempting a marginal rails run at the point of the home turn.

ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Inconvenienced soon after straightening when a runner to its inside shifted out.

Race 4: CLUDEN PARK QTIS 2YO CLASSIC 1200m

VALLEY RATTLER – Slowly away. Eased after improving onto heels near the 400m.

COCHRANE – Slowly away. Inclined to race ungenerously when awkwardly placed in restricted room near the 1000m. Brushed the inside running rail approaching the 200m.

KASHKAR – Began awkwardly.

BOOMED – Slowly away. Raced ungenerously near the 1000m shifting out and bumping with another runner. Was held up for some distance passing the 200m. Shifted out near the 100m to obtain clear running, bumping with another runner.

ETERNAL BEAN – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced near the 1000m by another runner which shifted in marginally. Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 100m when tiring was bumped by another runner which shifted out to obtain clear running.

CHOIR BOY – Crowded for room near the 1000m.

WELL CHARRED – Hung out passing the 900m. Raced wide throughout.

PALENCIA – Had to be restrained after improving onto heels near the 900m.

ANNIEMARIAH – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the 1000m YARRALINDA (M Potgieter) rolled away from the fence for a stride and in doing so took HUSETTE (S Wilson) slightly wider. Simultaneously ANNIEMARIAH (F Edwards) shifted in marginally resulting in CHOIR BOY (C Spry) which was following having to be restrained.

ASHCROFT - Jockey D Smith was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (4th offence).


Race 5: WELCOME FAMILIES, CHILDREN & GRANDPARENTS OPEN HANDICAP 1200m

STAR OF O’REILLY (NZ) – Due to an administrative error Blinkers Visor did not appear as part of the gelding’s race gear in form publications. Punters were advised that STAR OF O’REILLY was to race in that piece of gear by way of social media post and on-course public address. Began awkwardly. Raced keenly approaching the 600m. Held up for clear running approaching the 200m.

GREY MISSILE – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Inconvenienced passing the 1000m. Held up for clear running for some distance in the home straight. Restrained after improving onto heels near the 100m.

RAIDEN – Slowly away. Raced wide in the middle stages.

BATTLE CRY – Slowly away. Raced wide in the middle stages.

BRAD – Inclined to lay in near the 1000m.

DALON – Shifted in abruptly and made heavy contact with the running rail near the 1000m becoming extremely unbalanced and hampering a number of runners which were following. Inclined to race ungenerously throughout. Trainer I Coleman was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

OUR ALICIA’S LANE – Had to be restrained near the 1000m to avoid heels.

BUXTON – Hampered when placed in restricted room for a short distance near the 1000m. Inclined to race ungenerously down the running having to be restrained off heels near the 100m.

BULLION WOLF – Raced wide in the middle stages.

FORTIFICATION – Restrained soon after jumping to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail.

Race 6: WELCOME RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CLASS 2 PLATE 1400m

BOLD SPICE – Was a late withdrawal at 4.25pm on Veterinary advice after being found to have sustained an injury to the near fore leg. Trainer G Holt was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start. Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on BOLD SPICE be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the betting ticket:

1st Placed LIFETIME QUEST 1 cent win / 1 cent place
2nd Placed EROE 2 cents place
3rd Placed LIGHT FIELD 2 cents place

LIGHT FIELD – Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to its outside. Over-raced in the middle stages. Momentarily held up for clear running shortly after straightening.

LIFETIME QUEST – Buffeted between runners on jumping.

FORGIATO (NZ) – Bumped with a runner to its inside on jumping. Raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 1000m.

COOL INTELLIGENCE – Over-raced passing the 1000m.

WRITTEN IMAGE – Raced wide for the majority.

THE SILVER LADY – Inconvenienced when buffeted between runners on jumping.

MARVELLOUS HEART – Slowly into stride.

PROVOCATIVE MAN – Began awkwardly.

BOOM GATE – Began awkwardly.
