GENERAL
 
Due to Queensland Government Covid restrictions which limited Jockey access to spas and saunas, Stewards permitted the following Jockeys to ride overweight on their respective mounts:
 
Race 6- B Pengelly. ASK ME TOMORROW +1/2kg
              L Tilley. BOOMBRASSTIC +1kg
              N Day. MISTRESS OF DOOM +1/2kg

The following Jockeys were severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR232(b) for failing to notify Stewards of their intention to ride overweight on their respective mounts by the specifed time:

Race 1: CLUDEN PARK QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1300m
 
ISIS CARMELLA - As Jockey M McGillivray was delayed arriving on course due to transport difficulties Jockey A Sewell was substituted as rider of the filly.
 
IT’S A PLOY - Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 2: TAB CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m
 
CUNNAMULLA - Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Inclined to over-race in the middle stages.
 
MANIFICA - Buffeted between runners on jumping. Jockey C Whiteley advised that after being marginally slow away and striking some interference on jumping he assumed a trailing position, but raced flat throughout. Trainer S O’Shea advised it is now the intention to freshen the gelding prior to resuming its preparation.
 
URBAN MYHTH - Began awkwardly and then bumped by another runner which shifted out.
 
FLUTTERING - Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly.
 
ASSETS - Raced wide throughout.
 
PURE RUBICK - Raced wide throughout. Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 3: WILSON/RYAN/GROSE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000m
 
FULL OF FIRE - Began awkwardly. Inclined to layout rounding the home turn.
 
BOSS BABY - Began awkwardly.
 
MOLONGLE SURPRISE - Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages when being steadied in order to obtain a position off the pace. Inclined to shift out under pressure down the running.
 
MAGIC TRICK - Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and on entering the home straight.
 
QUEEN OF MANHATTAN - Was momentarily crowded on entering the home straight.
 
TAWIRI - Raced wide for the majority.
 
OCTOBER STORM - Raced wide for the majority.
 
EXCEEDINGLY KOOL - Raced wide for the majority.
 
COLD POWER - Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
Race 4: TAB CLASS 3 PLATE
 
ZEBLAN – Restrained soon after jumping in order to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail. Restrained after improving onto heels near the 1100m and again near the 600m.
 
JOHN BOOKE – Was buffeted between runners soon after jumping.
 
LIGHTHORSE LAD – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
POWER LIFT (NZ) – Raced wide in the middle stages. Shifted out under pressure near the 250m inconveniencing runners to its outside. Jockey D Smith was advised to exercise more care.
 
BELLEVITA – Was disappointed for clear running on several occasions in the home straight.
 
AROHA TE MANA – Was inconvenienced near the 250m when runners to its inside shifted out.
 
LOVE EXPRESS – Became unbalanced after being bumped by a runner to its inside which shifted out near the 250m.
 
EMMA’S JET – Raced wide for the majority.
 
MISTER MAGNUSIFENT - Raced wide for the majority.
 
SIDE HUSTLE – Shifted out abruptly when in clear running approaching the winning post.
 
NIAB – A post-race Veterinary examination revealed mild soreness in the hindquarter muscles.
 
Race 5: TAB UP & COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 2000m
 
ART ATTACK - Unable to muster pace in the early and middle stages. Commenced to tire from the 600m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
POTAWATOMI - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Restrained after improving onto the heels of a tiring runner approaching the 200m.
 
KING LANDON - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Made the 1700m crossing awkwardly.
 
FIORELLI - Slowly into stride.
 
FAST TRAIN - Inclined to race ungenerously passing the 1500m.
 
VISCOSITY - Inclined to over-race when crossed by another runner passing the winning post on the first occasion. Inclined to shift in under pressure down the running. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery rate.
 
MEATBALL - Jockey A Butler accidentally dropped his whip passing the 900m. Raced wide the majority.
 
BORELLA - Inclined to over-race when crossed by another runner passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
BEG ME - Inclined to over-race when crossed by another runner passing the winning post on the first occasion. Raced wide in the early stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DAWSON DELIGHT - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ZOUVILLA - Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
GUANGZHOU - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
LEEFKAS ISLAND - Commenced to tire from the 400m.
 
HE’S WOW CLASS - Commenced to tire from the 300m.
 
BOCHY - A post-race Veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery rate.
 
Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS TOWNSVILLE GUINEAS QTIS 4YO HANDICAP 1609m
 
BOONA BOY - Commenced to over-race when the pace slackened passing the 1400m.
 
BOLD PEDRO - Commenced to over-race when the pace slackened passing the 1400m.
 
NAMAZU - Commenced to over-race when the pace slackened passing the 1400m.
 
WATERWAY - Commenced to over-race when the pace slackened passing the 1400m.
 
ASK ME TOMORROW - Commenced to over-race when the pace slackened passing the 1400m.
 
ROBIG - Raced wide in the early stages.
 
KEFALONIA - Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MISTRESS OF DOOM - Raced wide in the early stages. Bumped with another runner on entering the home straight.
 
MARVELLOUS HEART - Commenced to over-race when the pace slackened passing the 1400m.
 
BOOMBRASSTIC - Bumped with another runner on entering the home straight.
 
DEADLY DIVA - Commenced to over-race when the pace slackened passing the 1400m.
 
MYSTERY ‘N’ MAGIC - Shifted out on jumping.
 
Race 7: TAB TOWNSVILLE CUP 2000m
 
TUNERO - Raced wide from the 1000m.
 
HAIL MANHATTAN - Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages. Severely checked passing the 100m.
 
BERING SEA - Slowly into stride. Held up for clear running for some distance on entering  the home straight. Inconvenienced when dictated outwards by another runner passing the 100m.
 
PLANET WARRIOR - Inclined to race keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide from the 1000m.
 
FACTORY WARRIOR - Raced wide in the early stages. Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out approaching the 300m.
 
BEST HOFFA - Raced wide for the majority.
 
BUSTER BLOCK - Slowly into stride. Raced wide from the 1000m.
 
BAJAN GOLD - Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Had to be restrained when tightened for running approaching the 300m.
 
STUBAI - Raced wide throughout. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 300m inconveniencing runners to its outside. Jockey D Smith was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
Jockey W D’Avila pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that passing the 100m he permitted his mount PLAY ME NOW to shift out onto the running of BERING SEA (N Thomas) dictating that runner out, causing tightening to the running of HAIL MANHATTAN (R Wiggins) which was severely checked. STUBAI (D Smith) which was racing to the outside of those runners was also hampered in this incident. Jockey D’Avila’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence Wednesday August 11, 2021 up to and including Friday August 20, 2021. In determining penalty Stewards were considerate of Jockey D’Avila’s guilty plea and his recent record in relation to the rule. Jockey D’Avila was advised of his right of appeal by way of Internal Review.
 
RACE 8: TAB CLEVELAND BAY 1300m
 
LANGHRO – Fractious in the barrier.
 
FINUCANE MISSILE - Fractious in the barrier. Slowly into stride. Was forced wider on the track passing the 400m.
 
FANAAR – Began awkwardly.
 
SO YOU DREAM – Began awkwardly. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the off hind leg.
 
BARACHIEL - Slowly into stride.
 
BOLD STYLE - Slowly into stride. Was forced wider on the track passing the 400m.
 
INQUIRY - Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
GREY MISSILE – Restrained after improving onto heels near the 600m.
 
BULLION WOLF – Had to be restrained passing the 400m when a runner to its inside shifted out when not fully clear.
 
RIGHT OR WRONG - Was forced wider on the track passing the 400m.
 
SPACE TIME – Raced wide for the majority. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the nearside stifle and bruising to the right eye.
 
Jockey G Kliese pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that passing the 400m, in an attempt to obtain clear running, he directed his mount WILLYGOOD outwards onto the running of BULLION WOLF (App M Potgieter) which had to be restrained. BOLD STYLE (M McGillivray), RIGHT OR WRONG (T Brooker) and FINUCANE MISSILE (C Whiteley) which were racing to the outside of BULLION WOLF were all forced wider on the track as a direct result of the outwards shift from WILLYGOOD. Jockey Kliese’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence Sunday August 8, 2021 up to and including Saturday August 14, 2021. In determining penalty Stewards were considerate of Jockey Kliese’s guilty plea and his excellent record in relation to the rule. Jockey Kliese was advised of his right of appeal by way of Internal Review.
