TRIVIA NIGHT 18TH FEBRUARY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m BOOGIE MAN - Fractious in the mounting yard. Slow to begin and unable to muster pace in the early stages.YUFCALLEDCHARLIE – Fractious in the mounting yard. Raced wide for the majority.TEVERINA – Slow to begin. Restrained after improving onto heels passing the 500m.RISK IN ROME – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly soon after jumping. Raced wide without cover for the majority.GRISHAM – Held up for some distance rounding the home turn. Switched back to the inside near the 150m in order to obtain clear running.SUFFRAGETTE CITI – Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.Race 2. MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH SALE QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1000mALTAR BOY – Began awkwardly.DOMINANT ROSE – Began awkwardly. Shifted in abruptly shortly after the start making heavy contact with SHEEZ BEAN TALKIN’ resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.MR WHITTINGTON – Slowly into stride.SOUL SURFER – Slowly into stride.MERSEY GIRL – Slowly into stride. Shifted in under pressure near the 100m.BOGAN PRINCESS – Commenced to buck shortly after start and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer M Preston advised that it would be her intention to spell the filly immediately, Nonetheless Ms Preston was advised that the filly would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. RED HOT POKER – Near the 100m shifted in and away from MERSEY GIRL which resulted in DOMINANT ROSE being tightened to the inside. Jockey F Edwards was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances.MISS BOUCHARD – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.SHEEZ BEAN TALKIN’ – Jockey N Thomas reported that the filly was inclined to hang in for the majority.Race 3. ROSES ARE RED OPEN HANDICAP 1200mHIT SNOOZE – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 1000m.MICAWBER – Slowly away. Jockey G Kliese advised that the gelding never travelled comfortably and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will contact Trainer C Williams in coming days to ascertain whether anything which may have had a bearing on today’s performance becomes apparent.LEVEL EIGHT – Slowly away.Stewards delayed the declaration of Correct Weight in order to view patrol footage, and after doing so were satisfied all runners had been afforded a fair start.Race 4. QUEENSLAND THOROUGHBRED OWNERS ASSOCIATION QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1200mAKOYA GEM – Began awkwardly and further inconvenienced by ROTHERO ESSGEE which jumped in at the start.BOOMED – Slowly away. Jockey S Wilson advised his instructions were to ride the gelding forward from the wide barrier.in the early stages to obtain a handy position with cover. When the gelding commenced to over-race passing the 1000m he elected to allow it to stride to the lead rather than restrain and fight against it. Trainer R Chillemi confirmed the instructions.MAGNETIC DRIVE – Slowly away.TILLY’S SECRET – Began awkwardly. ROTHERO ESSGEE – Fractious in the mounting yard. Shifted in marginally near the 800m taking IT’S A PLOY in resulting in MAGNETIC DRIVE being inconvenienced. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Race 5. CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP (2) 1300mJACJAC JACQUI – Slowly away.VIKING CLAP – Slowly away.STELLAR – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.TEMPO (NZ) – Shifted in shortly after jumping bumping SMARTY LEE.DUSKY DAMSEL – Buffeted between runners for a short distance after jumping.PUMPS (NZ) – Over-raced for a considerable distance in the middle stages.COKUM GIFT – Over-raced for some distance passing the 1000m and was restrained when crossed by a runner to the outside. Continued to over-race for a considerable distance passing the 800m.QUEEN OF MANHATTAN – Raced wide for the majority. Passing the 300m shifted out inconveniencing STELLAR. Jockey P Cullen was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a).MY ZEBRINKA – Near the 150m shifted in inconveniencing QUEEN OF MANHATTAN. Jockey C Jokic was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a).TEELING – Passing the 100m shifted out to obtain clear running inconveniencing TEMPO (NZ). Jockey C Spry was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.Jockey F Edwards, who rode SMARTY LEE, was suffering severe heat stress on returning to the enclosure and was unable to weigh in due to being in need of immediate medical treatment. Stewards, acting under the provisions of AR208(3)(b) subsequently declared Correct Weight on this event. Jockey Edwards was stood down from his remaining engagement and advised he will require a medical clearance prior to his next race ride. Race 6. HYGAIN RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP (1) 1300mSTAR SINGER – Slowly into stride. Tightened between runners soon after the start.MIND GAME – Shifted in soon after jumping inconveniencing a runner to the inside.BELFAST LASS – Began awkwardly. Bumped with another runner soon after the start.SOUND OF SLEAT – Shifted in on jumping bumping with a runner to the inside.SUPER ROSE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.TACTICAL ILLUSION - After racing fiercely early and establishing a substantial lead, compounded over the concluding stages. Trainer M McGuire advised that it is now the intention to turn the gelding out for an immediate spell.Race 7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREW PEEL CLASS 6 PLATE 1400mPONDEROSO – Trainer S Hoffmann was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR67 for the late declaration of Jockey N Thomas as the rider of the gelding. In assessing penalty Stewards were cognisant of the fact that Jockey Thomas was a replacement for the injured J Stanley, and in the circumstances did implement Clause (2) of the rule. However, as Ms Hoffmann had been made aware of Jockey Stanley’s unavailability on Friday February 11, Stewards considered she had ample time to declare the replacement rider prior to official scratching time. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Disappointed when attempting to obtain a run ear the 150m when PLAY ME NOW (NZ) shifted in. Jockey C Jokic was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances.ASHTON BLAIR – Jockey F Edwards was replaced by A Spinks as the rider of the gelding. Over-raced in the early stages.SALSA DREAMING – Slowly away.
