W & F CONSTRUCTIONS QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1200m NORTHERN ROGUE – Prior to the commencement of weighing out for this event, App S Tomlinson advised Stewards that he would only be able to claim 1kg of his 1.5kg allowance. Patrons were advised of this via on course announcement. Although Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by App Tomlinson, he was nonetheless severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR190(3). BABY GUINNESS – Began awkwardly becoming unbalanced and subsequently shifted out tightening HEROIC BOY. SHEEZ BEAN TALKIN’ – Began awkwardly shifting in tightening HEROIC BOY. Near the 1150m contacted HEROIC BOY on two occasions. HEROIC BOY – Near the 1150m shifted out bumping with SHEEZ BEAN TALKIN’ subsequently becoming unbalanced and bumping with SHEEZ BEAN TALKIN’ on another occasion. Passing the 800m shifted wider when racing greenly hampering SHEEZ BEAN TALKIN’ which was steadied as a result. App R Shred was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances. Found to have lost its near hind plate in the running. Race 2. CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES QTIS 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m PURPLE HAT – Began awkwardly. WELL CHARRED – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. RISK IN ROME – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. FRESH PRINCE – Inclined to shift out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey N Day was reminded of his obligations to stop riding and straighten his mount under similar circumstances. Race 3. MITAVITE OPEN HANDICAP 1400m BERNIE’S TIGER – The gelding, which raced at Mackay 3 days previously, underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was passed fit to start. Slowly away. PANIAGUA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Race 4. BROWN BROTHERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m SWEET WILL GO – Shifted out on jumping bumping with GRISHAM. GRISHAM – Shifted in on jumping bumping with SWEET WILL GO. LITTLE IVY – Shifted in on jumping inconveniencing YUFCALLEDCHARLIE. YUFCALLEDCHARLIE – Inconvenienced on jumping. GIANT THUNDER – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. MACKENZIE COUNTRY – Raced wide without cover for the majority. TEVERINA – Restrained when tightened to the inside of KITTYKITTYBANGBANG which shifted in marginally passing the 200m. App K Swaffer was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a). Approaching the 50m shifted out in order to avoid the heels of KITTYKITTYBANGBANG which resulted in GIANT THUNDER being hampered. At the conclusion of this event the 1st 4 placings were semaphored as 5/7/10&4, in that order. After reviewing the official photo of the finish the Judge amended numbers to 5/7/10&13 and Correct Weight was declared on those numbers. Race 5. W & F CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1900m LOUIS JANUARY – Lost its offside bubble cheeker upon exiting the barrier. Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey A Butler advised that in his opinion, the gelding would, at this stage, be better suited to racing over shorter distances. CONQUERING JUDAS – Marginally slowly away. Shifted wider passing the 600m in order to obtain clear running and raced wide from that point. POTAWATOMI – Inconvenienced when restrained off the heels of CONQUERING JUDAS near the 350m. BERING SEA – Held up for some distance in the early stages of the home straight behind COMBATTANT DE RUE which was tiring. ODDFELLOW (NZ) – Shifted in marginally passing the 300m inconveniencing SALSA DREAMING which was following. Jockey A Sewell was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances. SALSING DREAMING – Held up for some distance when restrained around the heels of ODDFELLOW (NZ) near the 300m. COMBATTANT DE RUE – Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. HONORED VOW – Raced wide throughout. Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 6. TAB QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1200m IT’S A PLOY – Declared a late scratching at 1:29pm on Veterinary advice after becoming loose in the on-course tie ups and sustaining multiple abrasions to both offside legs. As on-course betting had not commenced on the event no deductions were applicable. BOOMED – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Shifted wider from the 800m and continued to race wide from that point. Hung out badly rounding the home turn taking no further competitive part in the race. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Trainer R Chillemi was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again starting in a race. EAGLE EYE STAR – Knuckled shortly after the start. App S Tomlinson, who returned to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight, was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR211. At a subsequent inquiry App Tomlinson pleaded guilty to a charge of improper conduct under the provisions of AR228(b) in that he had attempted to deceive the Clerk of Scales. App Tomlinson’s was fined a further $400 in relation to this incident. In determining penalty Stewards were considerate of App Tomlinson’s forthright evidence and remorse. PALENCIA – Commenced to over-race passing the 1000m and continued to do so for some distance. Contacted MUZZLETOP passing the 550m. Jockey G Kliese advised that in his opinion, the gelding would now be better suited to racing over longer distances. Jockey Kliese also stated that in his opinion that the significant weight carried by PALENCIA had a bearing on today’s result. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Jockey Kliese was fined the sum of $300.00 under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip on 15 occasions in running (3rd offence). CHYNA XPRESS – Commenced to race keenly after obtaining the lead near the 900m. Race 7. W & F CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1300m ALL STAR ROCKET – Fractious in the parade yard. Trainer B Thomson was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages inconveniencing MY ZEBRINKA. App K Swaffer was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a). MYSTERY ‘N’ MAGIC – Slowly away. ARISE MY SON – Shifted in on jumping. NARDA SHAR – Shifted out on jumping. WICKED DANCER – Tightened between runners on jumping. CATMOSPHERE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. GAELIC – Held up for clear running for some distance on entering the home straight. MY ZEBRINKA – Crowded for room over the concluding stages when ALL STAR ROCKET commenced to shift in when placed under pressure. Race 8. HYGAIN CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000m HERSHISER – Due to an administrative error, some form publications listed M McGuire as the trainer of the gelding. The gelding is still in the stable of Trainer P McGuire. On course patrons were advised of this via on course announcement. Raced wide for the majority. BOSSUKA – Extremely fractious in the mounting yard. Trainer S Seymour was advised that the gelding must trial satisfactorily under race day conditions prior to again being able to start in a race. CINDERELLA ROSE – Fractious in the mounting yard. Trainer B Williams was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners. VISTA ROSE (NZ) – Shifted in near the 800m when not fully clear of runners to its inside. Jockey L McCoy was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances. VIENNA CRUISE – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 800m. JASMINE’S PRIDE – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 800m. CAT IN THE RAINE – Raced wide for the majority. RAISE DA VIBRATION – When questioned into the seemingly improved performance of the gelding, stable representative A Holt advised that the gelding had been freshened following its previous start and was better suited to the distance and tempo of today’s race. Mr Holt also stated that the stable had been pleased with the gelding’s work in the lead up. Race 9. W & F CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1000m THE GROVE – The gelding, which was resuming following a lengthy absence from racing, underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was passed fit to start. ELEGANT ZOUS - Prior to the commencement of weighing out for this event, App S Tomlinson advised Stewards that he would only be able to claim 1kg of his 1.5kg allowance. Patrons were advised of this via on course announcement. ZABERFELDIE (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping bumping with RIGEL. RIGEL – Began awkwardly and was buffeted between runners soon after jumping. SOLOMON – Buffeted between runners soon after jumping. NORWEGIAN WOOD – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. PEONY ROSE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. LILY OFTHE GLEN – Inclined to shift out when placed under pressure down the running. When trainer R Miller was questioned into the seemingly improved performance, he advised that the filly had conditions to suit today, with a combination of weight relief, the firmer racing surface and a more suitable distance. Trainer R Miller also added that he was pleased with the filly’s work in the lead up. Race 10. SIMPSONS TRIVIA TONIGHT @ CLUDEN PARK CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200m SWAHILI MAI – Prior to the commencement of weighing out for this event, App S Tomlinson advised Stewards that he would only be able to claim 1kg of his 1.5kg allowance. Patrons were advised of this via on course announcement. Restrained in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail subsequently brushing the rail. Altered course on a number of occasions in the home straight to obtain clear running. Raced tightly with BELFAST LASS approaching the winning post. CHEVRON’N’ROCKERS – Raced wide for the majority. SHEPHERD OF FIRE – Raced wide for the majority. TINY TIARA – Raced wide for the majority. BELFAST LASS – Raced tightly with SWAHILI MAI approaching the winning post. PUMPS – Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed a severely lacerated near hind leg, consistent with having been galloped on in running.
