The following over-weights were permitted by Stewards:

Race 1. KNIGHT FRANK QTIS 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m

HUSKI ROSE – Began awkwardly. Trailed the field throughout. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

PINSTEP – Slowly away. Momentarily steadied off the heels of WILSON’S GIFT passing the 450m.

GOOGAZ – Slowly into stride. Jockey J Stanley reported that the gelding failed the muster pace in the early stages and that in his opinion, the gelding would be better suited to a softer surface. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

SECRET QUALITY – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

HEROIC BOY – Inclined to shift out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

JUKEBOX DANCER – Raced greenly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey L McCoy reported that the gelding hung out from the 800m.

SHEEZ BEAN TALKIN – Jockey N Thomas reported that the filly was inclined to hang in over the concluding stages. Found to have shifted the off front plate in the running.

Race 2. BANK OF QUEENSLAND CASTLETOWN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400m

YUFCALLEDCHARLIE – Slowly into stride.

NAMANULA – Slowly into stride. Tired noticeably over the concluding stages.

TEVERINA – Very slowly away.

WELL CHARRED – Stewards inquired into an incident which took place near the 1300m in which WELL CHARRED, had commenced to race ungenerously, shifting in abruptly onto the running of IMPEACHER which as a result, shifted in and away from WELL CHARRED onto the running of ROLL THE BEANS which was restrained resulting in YUFCALLEDCHARLIE which was racing ungenerously to the inside of ROLL THE BEANS to also have to be restrained. After taking evidence from all riders, Stewards could not hold any one rider accountable as they were of the opinion that the main contributing factor the incident was the racing manners of WELL CHARRED.

GHILEMEAR – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority.

MILKY ROCKET – Raced wide in the early stages.

PURPLE HAT – Raced wide in the middle stages.

MACKENZIE COUNTRY – Unable to obtain clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

ON YOUR SKATES – Shifted out and around the heels of another runner passing the 200m in order to obtain clear running.

RISK IN ROME – Trainer C Attard was of the opinion that in hindsight he had presented RISK IN ROME too fresh at its previous start, when it assumed the lead and after over-racing, tired over the concluding stages. Mr Attard further added that the slower pace of today’s event together with a better run in transit had also proven advantageous.

Race 3. TAB VENUE MODE CLASS 6 PLATE 1609m

BREAKDANCE (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Buffeted between runners soon after jumping clipping the heels of BRAINS and knuckling over shortly after. Contacted the inside running rail near the 1300m resulting in App S Tomlinson becoming unbalanced.

COMBATANT DE RUE – After leading by a considerable margin in the middle stages, tired noticeably down the running.

Race 4. HYGAIN QTIS 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m

OUR GAIN – The filly, which last raced on 28.03.2022, underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Was extremely reluctant to leave the parade yard and also to proceed to the barriers. App S Tomlinson was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip in attempting to encourage the filly to proceed to the barriers. Trainer A Bailey was advised the filly would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start. Slowly away.

BOOGIE MAN – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected losing considerable ground. Stable foreman B Herne was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start.

SONNIE – Slowly away.

GINGER MULE – Shifted out on jumping bumping with THE MAGIC ONE. Commenced to shift in under pressure approaching the 100m crowding AIR FORCE ACE which was racing to its inside. Jockey L Morrison was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a).

THE MAGIC ONE – Shifted in on jumping bumping with GINGER MULE.

ENDINAYE – Inclined to over-race in the early stages.

AIR FORCE ACE – Attempted to improve into a marginal run passing the 350m carrying YABULU PRINCESS wider and contacting the hind quarters of ENDINAYE unbalancing that runner momentarily. Jockey P Romeo was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a).

GYPSY KING – Raced wide for the majority.

EXPLOSIVE GIRL – Raced wide for the majority.

IMPERIUM – Raced wide for the majority.

LATERALLY – Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5. BUSH TO BEACH PTY LTD OPEN HANDICAP 1000m

MALAHAT – Began awkwardly.

CHEVAUX – Slowly away.

FULL RECOGNITION – Slowly away.

WILLYGOOD – Shifted out bumping with BET ON LOVE passing the 600m becoming unbalanced. Attempted to improve near the 250m into what was a marginal run to the inside of MALAHAT (L Morrison) which was inconvenienced. App R Shred was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

BET ON LOVE – Bumped by WILLYGOOD passing the 600m becoming unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority.

THE EGYPTIAN – Had to be checked when disappointed for a marginal run near the 300m, resulting in ASPEN LAD becoming unbalanced. App T Fenlon was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

Race 6. ACUMENTIS PROPERTY VALUERS CLASS 1 PLATE 1400m

INHISTIME – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Shifted in near the 1000m when not fully of BATTLE MOUNTAIN which commenced to over-race as a result. Jockey C Spry was advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances.

YUBETIDO – Began awkwardly and shifted out soon after jumping inconveniencing STAR SINGER.

JACJAC JACQUI – Steadied near the 1000m when awkwardly placed in restricted room between runners.

CHOMPERS – Held up and unable to be fully tested between the 200m and the 100m.

SIGNIFICANT RULE – Raced wide for the majority.

BELFAST LASS – Raced wide for the majority.

SWAHILI MAI – Brushed the inside running rail near the 100m. App S Tomlinson advised that, although he had been instructed to obtain cover in running should circumstances permit, after beginning well he elected to allow the mare to stride to the lead which it did without any great effort and was able to dictate the pace of the remainder of the event.

Race 7. CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES CLASS 6 PLATE 1200m

ROTHMAN – Slowly away.

EL OF A SAGA – Shifted out on jumping bumping with STRIKE A BEAU. Commenced to over-race for a short distance passing the 1000m. Shifted in passing the 200m in an attempt to obtain clear running bumping with ROTHMAN.

BONDI BEAU – Shifted in on jumping bumping with TAWHIRI. Restrained off heels near the 900m. Raced wide for the majority.

CATMOSPHERE – Shifted in at the 1100m across the running of BONDI BEAU resulting in that runner having to be restrained. Jockey F Edwards was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

FINAL WARNING – Unable to obtain clear running for the majority of the home straight.

STRIKE A BEAU – Held up for clear running for some distance passing the 200m and again having to shift out near the 100m to get clear.

SUPPOSEDLY WICKED – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 8. MACKEY WALES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200m

LA FURIOSO – Bumped with MISS PIXIE soon after the start. Raced in restricted room for the majority of the home straight, brushing the running rail passing the 100m.

MISS PIXIE - Bumped with LA FURIOSO soon after the start. Raced wide for the majority.

LOVE FLIES – Slowly into stride. Reluctant to stretch out in the early and middle stages before passing a couple of tiring runners in the home straight. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K Allender undertook to advise Stewards should anything which may have had a bearing on today’s performance become apparent in coming days.

KEFALONIA – Held up for clear running to the 200m.

ALL NATIVE – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Shifted wider to improve passing the 500m.

BILL’N’TED – Restrained off heels near the 400m.Held up for clear running in the home straight.

ALL TOO NATURAL – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

NIGHT ATTIRE (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority.

Stewards intend to inquire into a protracted incident which took place in the home straight resulting in ALL TOO NATURAL (App S Tomlinson) being inconvenienced near the 150m and OUR RECIPE (L McCoy) having to be restrained off the heels of that runner.
