GENERAL
 
Jockey P Cullen who was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to an injury sustained at Bowen on 2nd April 2022 was replaced as per Race Day Summary.
 
App S Tomlinson who was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to personal reasons was replaced as per Race Day Summary.
 
The following over-weights were permitted by Stewards:

Race 5. A Thomson +1kg
Race 6. S Wilson +1kg
Race 7. S Sheargold +1kg
 
 
Race 1. HYGAIN QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1000m
 
MISSIONS HOUSE – Began awkwardly.
 
LITTLE RUNAWAY – Began awkwardly.
 
CHINNY BOOM – Inclined to lay out down the running.
 
MISSION ESTATE – Found to have lost its near fore plate in running.
 
Race 2. TOWNSVILLE YACHT CLUB OPEN HANDICAP 1400m
 
MALAHAT – As Jockey F Edwards was unable to make the allotted weight, he was replaced by Jockey J Stanley as the rider of the gelding. Jockey F Edwards was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR190(3). Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
NARDA SHAR – Slowly away. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
 
PANIAGUA – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. App R Shred reported that her saddle had shifted back marginally in running. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed the gelding had a poor post-race recovery.
 
Race 3. TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY CLASS 3 PLATE 1300m
 
MISTER MAGNUSIFENT – Trainer S Hoffman was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR106 after presenting the gelding to race without the Blinkers fitted.
 
GAELIC – Began awkwardly.
 
ALL TOO NATURAL – Slowly away. Held up for clear running for some distance near the 200m.
 
KEFALONIA – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
LOVE ON SUNDAY – Over-raced in the early stages. Jockey S Wilson was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip on 16 occasions in running.  1st offence.
 
Race 4. TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1000m
 
SHRECK – The gelding which was resuming following a lengthy absence from racing underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
GINGER MULE – Began very awkwardly throwing its head in the air and galloping ungenerously for a short distance.
 
PROPHETESS – Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed a laceration to the off hind leg consistent with having  been galloped on in running.
 
Stewards intend to inquire into an incident which resulted in App K Swaffer being dislodged from GOLD TRICKLE at a point near the 600m. In this incident, SHRECK (S Wilson), AIR FORCE ACE (P Romeo)and GINGER MULE (J Stanley) were all severely inconvenienced, being forced wider and lost ground as a result.
 
Due to QAS crews being required for the fallen rider and another injured licensee, the running of Race 5 was significantly delayed as a result. The remaining events were reallocated to the following times.
Race 5 – 4:45pm
Race 6 – 5:10pm
Race 7 – 5:45pm
 
Race 5. BROWN BROTHERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m
 
TOSCAVALE ROAD – Due to an administrative error an application to remove the winkers from the gelding which was submitted before acceptances by Trainer E Sewell was not processed. Consequently, Stewards permitted the removal of that piece of gear. Lunged forward in the barrier just prior to the start being effected causing the barrier to open marginally early. After viewing the patrol footage and taking evidence from Starter J Cullen and Jockey P Romeo, it was apparent that TOSCAVALE ROAD gained no material advantage from the incident, and was in fact slowly away.
 
RIVERSIDE BLUES – Jockey C Spry was replaced by S Wilson as the rider of the gelding due to acceptable reasons.
 
CHAMPAGNE TILLY - The mare which was resuming following a lengthy absence from racing underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
LATERALLY – The gelding which raced at Innisfail on 2nd April 2022 underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
LATERALLY – Buffeted between runners on jumping.
 
GRAND PALAZZO (NZ) – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Raced in a three wide position in the early and middle stages. Shifted in passing the 100m crowding THAT’S A DREAM.
 
SUNNY EKCELS – Shifted out approaching the 200m bumping with TALK CRAZY. Jockey A Thomson was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
THAT’S A DREAM – Inconvenienced passing the 100m.
 
Race 6. CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000m
 
LILY OF THE GLEN – As App K Swaffer was unable to fulfill her engagement, she was replaced by App R Shred as the rider of the mare.
 
ALL STAR ROCKET – Fractious in the mounting yard. Proved difficult to load. Trainer B Thomson advised that it is her intention to spell the mare. Nonetheless, Ms Thomson was advised that the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being able to start in a race.
 
FAMILY STAR – Fractious in the barrier. Bumped with ALI’S JAB on straightening.
 
BONDI BEAU – Slowly away.
 
RIGEL – Slowly away.
 
ASPEN LAD – Began awkwardly. Jockey A Butler was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b).
 
BONDI BEAU – Slowly away. Restrained off the heels of another runner near the 600m.
 
GO DEEP – Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner.
 
LILY OF THE GLEN – Raced wide the majority.
 
Race 7. MITAVITE CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000m
 
ZULU TUK - Due to an administrative error an application to remove the blinkers from the gelding which was submitted before acceptances by Trainer E Sewell was not processed. Consequently Stewards permitted the removal of that piece of gear.

FIREFIGHT - The gelding which was resuming following a lengthy absence from racing underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Momentarily held up on straightening.
 
CINDERELLA ROSE – As no Apprentice rider was available to replace App S Tomlinson, Jockey S Sheargold rode the mare. Nonetheless, Trainer B Williams was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of LR67(1)(3) for failing to declare the replacement rider within a reasonable timeframe, as directed by Stewards. Slowly into stride after bumping with a runner to the outside.
 
RAISE DA VIBRATION – Shifted in on jumping tightening SANCY ROSE.
 
BAY OF BENGAL – Shifted out on jumping bumping with RYANO.
 
RYANO – Shifted in on jumping bumping with BAY OF BENGAL. Raced wide for the majority.
 
REAR VIEW MIRROR – Restrained when crowded between runners passing the 100m.
 
RUN RAMPANT – Raced wide for the majority.
 
NEBARAZ – Raced wide for the majority.
