Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1300 metres

Go Getaboy – Bumped with another runner near the 1200m.

Altar Boy – Slowly away.

Heroic Boy – Over-raced in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure down the running, bumping with a runner to its inside near the 100m.

Mission House – Severely hampered rounding the home turn.

Dominant Rose – Bumped by another runner near the 1200m.

Mr Kobo – Checked when inconvenienced near the 950m. Raced wide from the 800m.

Vee Eight Power – Raced wide for the majority. Inconvenienced rounding the home turn.

App C Collis was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 950m he permitted his mount Dominant Rose to shift in when insufficiently clear of Mr Kobo (A Thomson) which had to be checked and was taken in crowding the running of Heroic Boy (S Wilson) which was restrained and made contact with the inside running rail. App Collis’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence Saturday August 13, 2022 up to and including Friday August 19, 2022, following the expiration of 2 previously incurred suspensions. In determining penalty Stewards were considerate of App Collis’ forthright evidence, his relative inexperience, his conduct during the inquiry, and the degree of interference, which was deemed to be in the low to medium range. App Collis was advised of his right to refer the matter to the Internal Reviewer.

Jockey C Spry pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that approaching the 300m he permitted his mount Altar Boy to shift out when insufficiently clear of Mission House (S Sheargold) which had to be checked and was forced out onto the running of Vee Eight Power (App I Teh) which was hampered and forced wider. Jockey Spry’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence Sunday July 24, 2022 up to and including Wednesday August 2, 2022. In determining penalty Stewards were considerate of Jockey Spry’s guilty plea, his conduct during the inquiry, his record in relation to the rule, and the degree of interference, of which was deemed to be in the medium range. Jockey Spry was advised of his right to refer the matter to the Internal Reviewer.

Race 2: LADIES DAY NEXT SATURDAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres

Red Peroni – Shifted wider near the 800m. Raced ungenerously for the majority. Trainer C Attard was advised a warning will be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

Bonython – Near the 1000m shifted in crowding a runner to its inside. Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted ground under pressure down the running.

Candy Girl – Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly.

Norwegian Wood – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.

Real Empress – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.

Stretching – Restrained when the pace slowed near the 1000m.

Viking Clap – Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 3: TOWNSVILLE CUP AUGUST 6TH RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres

Bank Bank Bank – Shifted out on jumping. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Shifted in near the 200m crowding a runner to its inside. Jockey F Edwards was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a). Lost off fore plate in running.

Dalbergia – Slowly into stride.

Taken By Theft – Fractious in the barrier. Crowded for a short distance near the 200m. Trainer R Miller reported that on return to his Cairns base the filly displayed signs of being in season.

Laudeylou – Tightened between runners on jumping.

Cinderella Rose - Slowly into stride. Shifted in on jumping

Race 4: EMILY INGHAM ART RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres

Hallside Hot Stuff – Restrained off heels near the 950m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Mystic Eyes - Slowly into stride.

Dusky Damsel – Over-raced for some distance after being crossed by another runner which was not quite clear near the 950m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Calculus – Restrained off heels near the 950m. Over-raced for some distance thereafter.

Sheez Marvellous – Raced ungenerously for a short distance after jumping. Shifted in near the 100m momentarily crowding another runner.

Em Cee Gee – Momentarily crowded near the 100m.

Merge (IRE) – Shifted in near the 950m inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Jockey P Romeo was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Race 5: TRAVEL ASSOCIATES Maiden Handicap 1200 metres

Inclusion - Raced wide for the majority.

Getiton – Shifted out under pressure down the running.

Rothero Essgee – Slowly away. Inconvenienced when tightened between runners soon after jumping.

Heiswoody – Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.

Vista Oriental - Raced wide for the majority.

Race 6: HYGAIN WINTER CUP OPEN Handicap 2000 metres

Play Me Now (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages, shifted wider near the 900m.

Bering Sea – Checked and lost ground near the 400m.

Breakdance (NZ) – Shifted wider near the 900m.

Boona Boy – Shifted wider rounding the first turn. Raced ungenerously for the majority. Compounded over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Connections were advised a Veterinary clearance is required prior to next race start.

Undoubted – Began awkwardly. Restrained off heels near the 400m.

Battle – Began awkwardly.

Greenskeeper – Over raced in the early and middle stages.

Jockey A Thomson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 400m she directed her mount Southern Swing outwards tightening the running of Bering Sea (N Thomas) which was forced to relinquish its position and lost its rightful running. Jockey Thomson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence Friday July 29, 2022 up to and including Thursday August 4, 2022. In determining penalty Stewards were considerate of Jockey Thomson’s guilty plea, her conduct during the inquiry, her record in relation to the rule, and the degree of interference, which was deemed to be in the low range. Jockey Thomson was advised of her right to refer the matter to the Internal Reviewer.

Race 7: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres

Boom Gate – Began awkwardly. Bumped with another runner near the 150m.

Ask Me Tomorrow – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Tightened between runners near the 1000m.

Rebel Bro – Became unbalanced near the 1000m after bumping with a runner to its inside.

Lord Of Light – Bumped with another runner near the 150m. Jockey F Edwards was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR132(6)(a) for use of the whip forward of his mount’s shoulder approaching the winning post.

Esthetic - A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer M Purvis was advised a Veterinary clearance is required prior to next race start.

Coolmeans (NZ) – Laid in under pressure down the running.

Roc De Khaper (NZ) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inconvenienced when racing in restricted room in the middle stages.

Stratobel – Slowly into stride. Jockey A. Layt accidentally dropped his whip near the 200m.

River Tycoon – Raced wide from the 700m.

Owned Up – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 8: LAURIE QUINLAN MEMORIAL QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1300 metres

Palencia – Restrained off heels near the 750m. Unable to obtain clear running for a considerable part of the home straight.

King Jester – Restrained off heels near the 750m.

Boomed – Slowly into stride, trailed the field throughout. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Star Midfielder – Restrained for some distance after improving onto heels near the 800m. Laid in under pressure down the running.

Kamarcher - Shifted wider near the 750m.

Moody's Luck – Shifted wider near the 750m.

Race 9: MITAVITE SPRINT OPEN Handicap 1000 metres

The start of this event was delayed due to connections of Funky Music experiencing saddling difficulties.

Love Is Blind – Shifted out on jumping inconveniencing runners to its outside.

Full Recognition – Slowly away.

Plenty – Began awkwardly, losing ground. Raced wide for the majority.

Funky Music – Inconvenienced on jumping.

Chivargo – Inconvenienced on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. The mare, which was resuming after a lengthy spell, underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was cleared to start,

Our Alicia's Lane – Inconvenienced on jumping.

Bakuhatsu – Shifted out under pressure down the running.

Race 10: HAMILTON ISLAND BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1200 metres

Simply Splashing – Slowly away.

Bold Type – Raced very ungenerously for the majority. Shifted out near the 900m bumping with another runner. Shifted out again approaching the winning post inconveniencing a runner to its outside. App T Fenlon was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed traces of blood in the gelding’s mouth. No other were abnormalities were immediately apparent. Nonetheless, Trainer S Massingham was advised a Veterinary clearance is required prior to next race start and also that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

Micawber – Raced wide for the majority.

Dalon – Steadied when awkwardly placed in restricted room near the 900m. Again steadied approaching the winning post when crowded by another runner which shifted out under pressure.

Heirborn (NZ) – Bumped with another runner near the 1000m and again near the 900m. Raced wide for the majority.

Auxin – Bled both nostrils for the 2nd time. The gelding has now incurred the mandatory lifetime ban from racing in Australia. AR79(6).

Validar – Slowly away.

Lighthorse Lad – Raced wide for the majority.
