PURPLE HAT – Over-raced in the early stages.FESSUP – Over-raced in the early stages. UNUSUAL LAD – Laid out leaving the 700 metres. AIR LIFTED – When asked to explain the gelding’s performance after finishing tailed off rider N. Day explained it refused to stretch out at any part of the race however felt good in its action and pulled up well. Trainer T. Simmons was at a loss to explain the performance and gave an undertaking to stewards should anything come her notice in the next few days that may have a bearing on today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and that the gelding had recovered well following the race. Trainer T. Simmons was advised AIR LIFTED must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.DON'T DOUBT HINCHI – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. When questioned into today’s performance trainer S. Seymour explained that after its previous start where the mare raced well, rider W. D’Avila advised him it would be better suited over a longer distance than of 1000 metres which is why it was stepped up to today to 1400 metres. Mr Seymour further explained the mare was racing over similar distances prior to arriving at his stable. Jockey W. D’Avila confirmed his advice after its previous start. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 2: GREAT NORTHERN LAUNDRY BENCHMARK 72 Handicap1400 MetresCONQUERING JUDAS – Slow to begin. Over-raced for a short distance near the 1000 metres. HELL OF A BOY – Threw its head in the air when being restrained near the 900 metres. Stewards reminded jockey G. Kliese to ride his mounts right out to the line. BOLD KINGSTON – Rider A. Butler returned to scale in a distressed state. After being examined by the QAS officers jockey A. Butler was stood down for the remainder of the meeting and rider replacements were made as per steward’s summary. Race 3: LAST PUNTER STANDING THIS SATURDAY QTISThree-Year-Old Handicap 1000 Metres HEROIC BOY – Shifted out under pressure near the 300 metres and again near the 200 metres hampering VEE EIGHT POWER. Jockey G. Kliese was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. VEE EIGHT POWER – Hampered near the 300 metres and again near the 200 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race. NEVETON – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.Race 4: MITAVITE Class 2 Handicap 1000 MetresSMARTY LEE – Slow to begin. OLD SCHOOL – Slow to begin. YABULU PRINCESS – Slow to begin. ASHERLA – Laid in for short distance soon after the start. ARCHIE'S LAW – Restrained off heels near the 400 metres. Jockey F. Edwards was fined the sum of $200 for the use of the whip being 8 times prior to the 100m which is 3 times more than is permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)SARANDOS – Rider R. Wiggins pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(5) and reprimanded in that he used his whip in an excessive manner by striking the gelding 15 times which is 1 more times than is permitted. Race 5: TAB OPEN Handicap 1609 MetresSUGAR BUZZ – Slow to begin. OUR ALICIA'S LANE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages when the pace slackened. SO YOU DREAM – Over-raced in the early stages when the pace slackened. TENNESSEE BOY – Over-raced in the early stages.DALON – When questioned into the improved performance stable representative M. Coleman explained the gelding race dour at its previous start and had been freshened up, he further added that being able to lead without being pressured enabled DALON to run a solid 1609 metres today. Stewards noted the explanation. CRACKER ESSGEE – Rider C. Spry pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner by striking the gelding 17 times which is 3 more times than is permitted. Jockey C. Spry’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence at midnight 13 October 2022 and expire 20 October 2022. Race 6: BROWN BROTHERS Class 6 Plate 1000 MetresASHTON BLAIR – Reared high on jumping causing rider F. Edwards to strike his head on the barrier cross bar. Trainer G. Hughes was advised he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. F. Edwards declared himself free of any injury. ALL TO DO – Shifted wider near the 600 metres. MATTERHORN (NZ) – Jockey R. Wiggins will be interviewed by stewards in relation to the use of his whip prior to the 100 metres. Race 7: TAB Class 4 Handicap 1300 MetresSPLENDARAMA – Slow to begin. MISS SEATTLE – Shifted out under pressure near the 200 metres momentarily hampering TYCOON BEAU. TYCOON BEAU – Momentarily hampered near the 200 metres. Race 8: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55Handicap 1400 MetresTOO HOT TO HOLD – Slow to begin. HERVOR – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping MERIDA’S BOW. Over-raced in the middle stages.MERIDA'S BOW – Bumped on jumping. HALLSIDE HOT STUFF – Shifted wider to improve near the 700 metres. REBEL LAKE – Raced in restricted room near the 300 metres. Had difficulties obtaining clear running in the home straight. LITTLE RED PEPPER – Had difficulties obtaining clear running in the home straight. ACTON SHALE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. FIGURED – When questioned into the improved performance today trainer R. Chillemi advised that in his opinion the gelding was not comfortable on the track surface at its previous start and further that being ridden aggressively today from its wide barrier was also a contributing factor. Stewards noted his explanation. Race 9: HYGAIN Class 1 Handicap 1200 MetresMEMBERS ONLY – As jockey S. Sheargold was dually engaged he was replaced by C. Whiteley. S. Sheargold pleaded guilty to a charge under AR126(1) and was fined the sum of $200. Began awkwardly causing jockey C. Whiteley to become unbalanced. ROTHERO ESSGEE – Slow to begin and over-raced in the early stages. GIORDANO – Shifted in at the start tightening DENIMS. DENIMS – Tightened for room on jumping. SPIRIT MEISTER – Began awkwardly and shifted out tightening VISTA ORIENTAL.VISTA ORIENTAL – Tightened for room on jumping and shifted out bumping VELOURS BLEU. VELOURS BLEU – Bumped on jumping and raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages being restrained from heels for some distance. GOLDEN CHANCES – Restrained from heels near the 1000 metres and again near the 900 metres and shifted wider. STAR MIDFIELDER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
