GENERAL
 
The following overweights permitted for today’s meeting:

Race 1: AUSNORTH BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION Maiden Plate 1000 Metres
 
STARS AND SHADOWS – As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
PYROMANCER – Kicked by another runner behind the barriers. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 500 metres.Compounded over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness in its off-hind leg. Trainer B. Williams was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance of soundness for the gelding prior to it being permitted to race again.

CLASSIC CHANCE – Slow to begin.
 
LUMERAI – Laid in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride.
 
QUE CEE SPADE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
JUKEBOX DANCER – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Race 2: JAYSEL ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION OPEN Handicap 1200 Metres
 
FUNKY MUSIC – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a laceration to its off-hind leg.
 
RAIDEN – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. As this is the second occasion on which RAIDEN has bled, it will now incur a lifetime ban from racing. AR79(6)
 
FOCUS – Bounded in the air on jumping.
 
DORDOGNE – Over-raced in the early stages having to be restrained off heels.  
 
DAWN TOO GOOD – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
HELL OF A BOY – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. Accidently struck over the head by the whip of another rider near the 150 metres.
 
Race 3: TOWNSVILLE MATER EMERGENCY QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1300 Metres
 
VEE EIGHT POWER – Was declared a late scratching at 2.10pm when fractious in the tie-up area and slipped over. All monies invested on VEE EIGHT POWER were ordered to be refunded. The following deductions were applicable to all successful wagers placed on the event prior to 2.10PM:
 
15 cents in the dollar for the win HEROIC BOY
13 cents in the dollar for the place of winner HEROIC BOY
 
Trainer B. Williams was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to it being permitted to race again.
 
SECRET QUALITY – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
HEROIC BOY – Shifted out near the 300 metres bumping DON’T TELL LEEANNE on three occasions and became unbalanced. Rider G. Kliese was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.

Race 4: LENNY SHINN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1300 Metres
 
WITSABOUTHIM (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
MCNAIR (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
VISTA ORIENTAL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 5: HEDLEY RACING PALLARENDA STAKES QTIS 2YO Fillies Maiden Plate 1000 Metres
 
SALIKA DIVA – Bounded in air on jumping.
 
HIT THE ROAD – Slow to begin.Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MISS MILDRED – Slow to begin. Raced greenly when placed under pressure near the 200 metres.
 
PUSS BOOTS – Began awkwardly and then bumped. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
FREE LADY – Shifted out on jumping and bumped PUSS BOOTS. Raced greenly for a short distance after the start.
 
JAZZ WORTHY – Raced greenly for the majority of the race and shifted out abruptly approaching the 100 metres before being corrected.
 
Race 6: HEDLEY RACING PALLARENDA STAKES QTIS 2YO Colts & Geldings Maiden Plate 1000 Metres
 
KAI COME – Shifted out abruptly on jumping severely inconveniencing JAZZY JASPER causing both runners to lose considerable ground. Trainer T. McGovern was advised he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. Badly inconvenienced when attempting to avoid the fallen JAZZY JASPER and was eased out of the race.
 
JAZZY JASPER – Severely inconvenienced on jumping and lost considerable ground. Faltered near the 400 metres when in clear running and fell dislodging jockey G. Kliese. After being attended to by the veterinary surgeon it was found to have sustained severe injuries to both forelegs and due to the extent of injury was euthanised on humane grounds. Swab samples were taken. Jockey G. Kliese was subsequently transported to Townsville for further assessment.  
 
LUCKY JIM – Bumped on jumping after being slow to begin.
 
THE WALLET – Shifted out at the start bumping LUCKY JIM. Raced greenly in the early and middle stages.
 
ELIE JOE – Raced greenly in the early stages and shifted out near the 800 metres.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 7: CRANBROOK MEDICAL BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1609 Metres
 
UNDOUBTED – Was declared a late scratching at 4.54pm due to no rider being available when jockey G. Kiliese was indisposed. All monies invested on UNDOUBTED were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.54PM:
 
13 cents in the dollar for the win SACRED LEGACY
9 cents in the dollar for the place of winner SACRED LEGACY  
14 cents in the dollar for 2nd place REBEL BRO
11 cents in the dollar for 3rd place ASK ME TOMORROW
 
ASK ME TOMORROW – Slow to begin.
 
REBEL BRO – Slow to begin.Hampered near the 500 metres and shifted out bumping REBEL LAKE on the hindquarters.  
 
REBEL LAKE – Shifted wider leaving near the 1000 metres and raced wide from that point onwards. Bumped on the hind quarters near the 500 metres.
 
FIGURED – Raced wide in the early stages.

HALLSIDE HOT STUFF – Hampered near the 500 metres and shifted out hampering REBEL BRO.  
 
NOIR JACK – Restrained off heels near the 500 metres and shifted out hampering HALLSIDE HOT STUFF which was steadied. Shifted out approaching the winning post and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
SACRED LEGACY (NZ) – Shifted ground under pressure in the home straight.
