General:



Following an inspection, the track was upgraded to GOOD 4 at 11.50 a.m.



SCRATCHINGS



Race 1 WHITTEY”S DREAM, Race 2 Nil, Race 3 HAVAN ROAD Race 4 FORSETI Race 5 CALL ME MO , MY SISTER SAL – late scratching 12.14 p.m. Race 6 Nil Race 7 FESSUP, REBEL LAKE , SERENATO (No available rider). PICTON - late scratching at barrier at 4.39 p.m.



Race 1: THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES



COSMIC STARLET – Apprentice I Teh was dislodged behind the barriers and suffered no

injury. The filly was recaptured and inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed

fit to start. Slow to begin and failed to muster speed in the early and middle stages.



SOARING SPIRIT – Jumped awkwardly into the side of the barrier gate as the start was effected.



LE MANCER – Jumped awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced greenly

on the turn out of the back straight.



SIMPLY BEANS – Jockey J Taylor reported that the filly had travelled well until the home

turn however on straightening was immediately under pressure and dropped the bit.

He stated that SIMPLY BEANS ran home fairly. Jockey Taylor had suggested to

Trainer F Wieland that he may consider racing SIMPLY BEANS in blinkers.





Race 2: QTIS TWO YEAR OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES



TANOSHI – Slow to begin and raced ungenerously shortly after the start.



THE WALLET – Hung in over the final 200 metres and was unable to be fully tested by its

rider over the concluding stages.



THIS GIRL’S READY – Slow to begin and then hampered by THE WALLET which

jumped outwards.



CASUAL – Approaching the finish line CASUAL had to be steadied off the heels of ROWEINER’S DANCE which was tiring.



Race 3: MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES



BELLEOFTHEHUNTER – Began awkwardly. Commenced to over race at the 900 metres. Raced wide throughout.



PYROMANCER - Over raced from the 900 metres for some distance.



DREAM LUV – Raced wide from the start.



ACCTORIES – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Shifted in abruptly and had to be straightened at the 250 metres when struck with the whip.



SEA STITCH – Was held up for clear running until the 200 metres.





Race 4: BAND 0-65 HANDICAP 1609 METRES



REBEL BRO – Slow to begin



CONQUERING JUDOS – Slow to begin.



McNAIR – Slow into stride.





Race 5: BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 METRES



SHEPHERD OF FIRE – Struck the mounting yard gate when entering onto the track and

was inspected behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to

race. Commenced to overrace at the 1000 metres for a short distance.



KISS ME LATER and PENASQUITO collided shortly after the start.



WE’LL BEAT IT – Raced three wide throughout.



WANNA TWEET – Jockey N Thomas was questioned regarding the riding tactics

he adopted on the mare in particular the amount of pressure that he applied to the

leader DUSKY DAMSEL when attempting unsuccessfully to lead in the early and

middle stages.



Jockey Thomas advised that WANNA TWEET is a mare that races towards the lead and

that they were his instructions. After being unable to cross the winner DUSKY DAMSEL in

the early stages, he stated that he progressed forward after being caught outside of

eventual winner DUSKY DAMSEL. He advised that his mount only compounded over the

final 100 metres.



Trainer G Hughes advised that his instructions to Jockey N Thomas were to attempt to gain

a forward position and race with cover if possible.



The explanation of Jockey N Thomas and Trainer G Hughes were noted.



NEVER CRY – Jockey N Day attempted a narrow run to the inside of SHEPHERD OF FIRE

at the 150 metres where restricted room existed. SHEPHERD OF FIRE was

marginally hampered in this incident. Jockey Day was advised to exercise more

care in similar circumstances.



Race 6: OPEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES



SIREN ROCK and DORGOGNE collided shortly after the start.



SO YOU DREAM on jumping shifted out and checked HELMAZ. Raced wide until the

650 metres. Apprentice I Teh the rider of SO YOU DREAM was cautioned for pressure

she applied to BREAK MY STRIDE when attempting to cross from the 900 to the 650 metres.



DALON -Slow into stride at the start.



VERBALIZER (NZ) - Jumped awkwardly. Hampered at the 250 metres when placed in

restricted room.



HELL OF A BOY - Raced wide in the middle stages.



LOVE EXPRESS - Was held up for clear running making the home turn and had to be

eased wider off heels to obtain clear running.



TENNESSEE BOY - Had to be steadied momentarily at the 250 metres when DALON shifted in.



Jockey N Day (SIREN ROCK) was issued with a severe reprimand for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metres. AR132(7)(a)(ii). 2nd Offence.





Race 7: BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1400 METRES



PICTON was kicked behind the barriers and a veterinary examination revealed the gelding

to have sustained a laceration to the near side hind.



PICTON was subsequently declared a late scratching scratching at 4.39 p.m. All monies invested on PICTON were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to the withdrawal were as follows:



17 cents in the dollar for the win - PLUCKERCARN

12 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - PLUCKERCARN

16 cents in the dollar for 2nd place – FORSETI

17 cents in the dollar for 3rd place -GOLDEN CHANCES



A veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before PICTON can race again.



TOO HOT TO HOLD, LITTLE RED PEPPER and SUNNY EKCELS were all slow to begin.



SUNNY EKCELS -Over raced from the 1200 metres to the 1000 metres.



LAUDEYLOU - Was slow into stride.



FORSETI – Raced wide throughout. Jockey N Day was repremanded for using his whip

on one more occasion than the permitted 15 in the race. AR132 (5) – 1st Offence.



KEIGHLEY SUN -Shifted out and bumped another runner at the 100 metres.
