SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
ADJOURNED ENQUIRY RACE 8 TOWNSVILLE – 20 NOVEMBER 2022.
 
Jockey N Day (NEVER CRY) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132 (6) in that he used his whip on 3 occasions over the final 300 metres forward of the horse’s shoulder.
Jockey N Day was fined the sum of $500.
 
 
GENERAL
 
 
Race 1: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
Skymaster returned to the mounting yard post-race with a laceration to the near hind cannon bone.
 
Pocket Fugitive overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 2: BROWN BROTHERS Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
Bil Colyns – slow to begin.
 
Himself – commenced to buck shortly after the start and connections were advised the gelding will be required to complete a satisfactory barrier trial before racing again.
 
Zorossa - Refused to load and reared over as barrier attendants attempted to load the gelding. Zorossa was declared a Late Scratching at 1.10 p.m. Given the gelding has a history of refusing to load, Stewards will require two successfully trials before Zorossa is permitted to race again.
A Post Race Veterinary examination of Zorossa revealed the gelding suffered no injury.
 
Prior to correct weight being declared, all monies invested on Zorossa were ordered to be refunded in full and the following deductions to be applied to winnings bets.
 
0 cents on the dollar for the win Big Rocket
9 cents on the dollar for the place of winner Big Rocket
6 cents on the dollar for 2nd place Bil Colyns
1 cent  on the dollar for 3rd place Stars and Shadows
 
Barratta Girl- Slow to begin.
 
Stars And Shadows- Returned to scale with blood in the mouth. A post-race veterinary examination reported that the gelding had bitten it’s tongue.
 
Race 3: TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
Cash Is Doomed – Slow into stride.
 
The Wallet – Hung in at the 200 metres and had to be checked off heels of Jazz Worthy. Continued to hang in over the concluding stages.
 
Heeza Hubsession – Raced wide throughout.
 
Roweiner's Dance – Brushed the running rail at the 350 metres when leading.
 
Jazz Worthy – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Axone – Raced ungenerously between the 600- 400 metres.
 
Tanoshi – Jockey C Whiteley was reprimanded (AR131 a) for allowing his mount to shift ground approaching the finishing post hampering This Girl’s Ready (L Morrison).
 
 
Race 4: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES OPEN Handicap 1000 metres
 
Funky Music – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Hit Snooze - Collided with Molongle Surprise at the start.
 
We'll Beat It - Raced wide for the majority. Jockey C Brummel reported his saddle shifted back in running placing him at a disadvantage.
 
Lifetime Quest – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 5: 5 CHRISTMAS RACEDAY SATURDAY 10 DECEMBER Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Sharpay Ruler – Hampered at start.
 
Master Orr – Slow to begin. 
 
Golden Chances – Raced three wide from the 1000 metres.
 
Ten Schilling – Inconvenienced on jumping. Commenced to overrace between the 1000 metres – 600 metres.
 
Whobethatnow - jumped inwards at the start hampering runners.
 
Polhampton – shifted in at the 1000 meters hampering Tiny Tiara. At an enquiry Jockey N Day was advised to exercise more care when crossing and Jockey D Smith (Tiny Tiara) was cautioned regarding the validity of the evidence he provided at the Stewards enquiry.
 
Sunny Ekcels – Jumped awkwardly.
 
Redzeb- Slow to begin.
 
Tiny Tiara – Hampered at the start. When overracing was hampered at the 1000 metres.
 
Race 6: TRAVEL ASSOCIATES Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Corretto (NZ) - Raced wide throughout. Trainer J Caught was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding which after racing outside the leader tired over the concluding stages. He advised that in his opinion Corretto NZ had not backed up from its previous start on 20 November 2022 and that his preparation would be eased. Stewards noted his explanation.
 
Smarty Lee – Commenced to overrace at the 1000 metres.
 
Anselmo – Slow to begin.
 
Don't Doubt Hinchi – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Voodoo Miss – Raced wide throughout.
 
Roc De Khaper (NZ) – Slow to begin. Had to steadied off the heels of the tiring Corretto (NZ) at the 100 metres.
 
Toscavale Road – Slow into stride. Had to be steadied off the heels of another runner on the home turn and became unbalanced.
 
Well Charred – Slow into Stride
 
 
Race 7: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1609 metres
 
Tricology (NZ) – Jockey A Butler was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding which had raced disappointingly. Jockey Butler advised that the gelding travelled well until the home turn and under the top weight, had failed to run on. He advised that the gelding was carrying eleven kilograms more than its previous win and laboured today as soon as he asked the gelding for an effort on straightening. He indicated that connections had informed him they intend sending Tricology (NZ) for a spell. The explanation of Jockey A Butler was noted. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Trainer J Whehlow advised that Tricology (NZ) had not been suited by the humid conditions of the day and had sweated up badly before the race. He confirmed he intended sending the gelding to be spelled.

Break My Stride – Jockey N Day reported the gelding hung out throughout.
 
Witsabouthim (NZ) – Stood flat footed in the barriers at the start losing considerable ground. Trainer J Caught advised that Witsabouthim (NZ) would be spelled, and Stewards ordered that it must complete a satisfactory barrier trial before racing again.
 
Fandral – Race wide. Jockey T Brummel was reprimanded (AR132.h) for striking the gelding with the whip on two occasions over the concluding stages when not in a position to improve.
 
Race 8: MITAVITE RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Pluckercarn – Slow into stride. Disappointed and held up for a clear run over the concluding stages. Jockey L Morrison accidently dropped her whip at the 150 metres.
 
Mcnair (NZ) – Slow to begin and bumped another runner on the outside.
 
Always Sacred (NZ) – Race wide throughout.
 
Noir Jack – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
Jakazone - Overraced approaching the 1000 metres and improved onto the heels of Norah.
 
Chaotic Cranach – Raced wide.Jockey J Felix was declared and approved at acceptances to ride the mare 1.0 kgs over the allocated weight. On weighing out Jockey Felix was 1.5 kg over the allocated weight and was fined $300 (AR190- 2). No other senior rider was available and J Felix was allowed to ride at that weight..
