QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB TOWNSVILLE – SATURDAY 7 JANUARY 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT (5) R 1-4 . R5 upgraded to GOOD (4) RAIL – + 0.5 meter the entire course. OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D GriffithsStewards – P Gillard, P Warren, K Dean (Cadet)Clerk of Scales – L. McKayJudge – S NosworthyVeterinarian – Dr. D VieroSwab Attendants – A LeeStarter – J Cullen GENERAL The following horses underwent pre- race veterinary examinations and were passed fit to start-: Race 3 –Ali’s JabRace 5 – Simply BeansRace 6 – Winds of War Bogan Princess refused to be loaded on the horse float post-race and was treated by the Club Veterinary Surgeon with a sedative. Race 1: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES Maiden Plate 1000 metres Joint Forces – Hung out over the final 250 meters. Mango Tango Wine – Jumped inwards at the start making heavy contact with Stars and Shadows and thenraced wide throughout. Mr Tangles – Raced wide throughout. Sea Stitch – Slow to begin. Falvelon Delight – Hampered at the start by Stars and Shadow which shifted in after contacting another runner. Raced wide throughout. Paparazzi Rocket – Slow into stride at the start. Stars And Shadows - Jumped outwards and made heavy contact with Mango Tango Wine. Talk Crazy – A post-race veterinary examination revealed an off-hind leg laceration. Cosmic Starlet – Slow to begin. Miss Starlette – Attempted to buck at the 900 meters and lost considerable ground. Trainer S Seymour was advised that Miss Starlette will be stood down from racing until a satisfactory trial is performed. Race 2: BECOME A CLUDEN PARK MEMBER OPEN Handicap 1000 metres Family Star – Slow to begin. Aspen Lad – Hung in when struck with the whipat the 200 meters. It was noted that Jockey N Summers stopped riding Aspen Lad just prior to the winning post. Stewards were not of the opinion that this action had affected the placings however Jockey N Summers was advised to ensure she rides her mounts right to the finish line in future. Race 3: IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO JOIN CLUDEN PARK BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1400 metres Buster Block – Overraced in the early and middle stages andraced three wide from the 1000 meters. Bottom Line – Slow to begin. Higher Love – Jumped awkwardly Race 4: TAB Class 3 Plate 1200 metres Coco Cuber – Jumped inwards at the start and collided with Ten Schilling Vaporizing - Slow to begin Inner Spirit – Raced three wide without cover from the 1000 meters. Perfect Quality - Raced three wide throughout. Smarty Lee – At the 1000 meters was steadied momentarily off the heels of Strathcona which shifted in. Strathcona – Jumped awkwardly and then commenced to overrace at the 950 meters. Ten Schilling – Hampered on jumping. Serenata – Slow into stride and raced three wide with cover. Following the running of this event the track rating was upgraded to Good (4) Race 5: HYGAIN QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres Caramel Toffee – Stood flat footed in the barriers and lost considerable ground. Trainer L McCormack was advised that Caramel Toffee will be stood down from racing until a satisfactory trial is performed. Redavni – Slow to begin. Jockey C Whiteley was questioned regarding the riding tactics he adopted on the filly which was having it’s first race start. He advised that the filly failed to muster any early pace and was racing “greenly” in the early and middle stages of the event. He stated that Redavni had tacked onto the bulk of the field making the home turn and that he had elected to follow the eventual winner Freddy Barbarossa from the350 metres. Jockey C Whiteley advised that Redavni when placed under pressure tended to hang in however finished strongly over the concluding stages. Jockey Whiteley also believed that the filly may be suffering a “seasonal” issue. The explanation of Jockey C Whiteley was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of Redavni confirmed thefilly to be in season. Spring's Gift – Bumped Mersey Girl at the 900 meters and became unbalanced. Raced wide throughout. Minokawa – Momentarily steadied at the 850 meters when tightened by Sheez Been Talkin which was taken in by Dominant Rose. Held up for clear running and unable to improve between the 400 meters and 250 meters. Dominant Rose - Raced wide throughout. Sheez Bean Talkin' – Raced wide. Mersey Girl - Raced wide throughout. Runaway Kiss – A late change of rider to N Summers replacing F Edwards was approved due to Jockey F Edwards being unable to make the allocated weight. F Edwards was fined $100 under the provisions of AR190 (3). Race 6: MITAVITE Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres Super Fast – Collided with another runner on jumping. Winds Of War, Dynamic Artist, Victory For Us – Raced wide throughout. Line Of Kings – Hampered on jumping after beingslow to begin. Sirianni - Shifted inwards and bumped Whit’s End shortly after the start. Explosive Girl – Jumped awkwardly. Was galloped on in running and returned to scale with a laceration to the off-hind leg. Right Bower – After being slow into stride was then tightened for room and lost ground due to Super Fast shifting out onto Whit’s End which in turn moved wider. Simultaneously Sirianni shifted inwards causing a further tightening. Tiny Tiara – The mare was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon pre-race who found no abnormalities.
