SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
 
The track was upgraded to a GOOD 4 at 10.00 a.m.
 
Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:
R3. A Layt +1kg
R5. C Whiteley +0.5kg
R6. S Sheargold +1kg, N Day +1kg.
R8. N Day +1kg, S Sheargold +1kg
R9. N Day, +1kg
 
 
Race 1: HYGAIN QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
Floral Code – Was hampered on jumping by Salika Diva which shifted out.
 
Hey Bull - Slow to begin. Hung in over the final 200 metres requiring Apprentice I Teh to stop riding and straighten the gelding.
 
Average Jane – After dislodging a tooth, the filly was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.
 
Salika Diva – Jumped awkwardly hampering Floral Code.
 
Mishani Eagle - Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 2: FOLLOW CLUDEN PARK ON FACEBOOK QTIS Two-Year-Old
Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
Superior Charm - Checked at the start.
 
Mishani Promise – Hampered over the final 100 metres when another runner shifted in.
 
Shiho – At the 600 metres, the filly blundered and dislodged Apprentice Ms. K Swaffer who required Ambulance attention. Apprentice Ms. K. Swaffer was transported by Ambulance to the Townsville Hospital for further observations. In her absence, Stewards questioned riders in her vicinity at the time of the fall – J Taylor (ReadyBoss), R Shred (Puss Boots), D. Smith (Superior Charm) and J Murphy (Kai Come). After taking evidence from those riders, and after viewing the Stewards Patrol film, the matter was adjourned until and time and date to be fixed to enable Apprentice K Swaffer to be in attendance. Shiho was recaptured after trailing the field and following a veterinary inspection was found to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer T Rowe was advised that veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before the filly can again race.
 
Puss Boots – After being bumped at the start by a runner, the filly thenshifted out tightening
Superior Charm which had to be checked. Puss Boots then raced greenly in the straight and shifted in over the final 100 metres hampering Mishani Promise.
 
Race 3: MITAVITE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1900 metres
 
High I Cue – Cast a near side hind plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an existing injury to the near side rump had been aggravated. The gelding also had a laceration to the off-hind leg on the coronet. Trainer T Snelling will be interviewed at a time and date to be fixed in relation to these matters and why he left the course post-race with his runner without permission of Stewards prior to the required time (30 minutes) specified in AR165 (3). 
 
Validar – Hung out making the turn out of the front straight making this turn awkwardly.
 
The Beat Goes On – Fractious in the barriers.
 
He Will Acheev  – Fractious in the barriers.
 
Race 4: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES OPEN Handicap 1300 metres
 
Mystery 'N' Magic – Slow into stride at the start. Jockey J Taylor was questioned regarding the performance of Mystery 'N' Magic. He advisedthat after being slow to begin, the gelding was never travelling well and when asked to improve passing the 600 metres, Mystery 'N' Magic had finishedfairly. Jockey Taylor advised that in his opinion Mystery 'N' Magic may be better suited over a longer journey than today’s race and he had suggested the same to the trainer Mr Chillemi.  
 
Tempo (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 5: LADIES DAY SATURDAY 29 JULY Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Finally Realise - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Finally Realise was held up an unable to improve on the home turn. At the 350 metres, FinallyRealise was checked and lost ground when attempting a narrow run between Bones (J Murphy) and ImposingBeau (G Kliese) which shifted out marginally. Jockey G Kliese was reprimanded for shifting ground when not clear.

Imposing Beau – Slow to begin.
 
Phantom Spirit – Approaching the 1000 metres Phantom Spirit commenced to overrace, then raced fiercely, and refused to settle until the 600 metres.When questioned regarding the performance of Phantom Spirit Jockey L Morrison advised that the geldings racing manners by over racing when racing outside of the leader had contributed to the below average performance. She further advised that despite her efforts to settle Phantom Spirit in the middle stages the gelding failed to respond and in her opinion this had been detrimental.
 
Perfect Quality – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
Nuke – Raced wide for much of the event.
 
Race 6: BROWN BROTHERS Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
Donenothing – Jockey G Kliese was reprimanded for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metres. AR132(7)(a)(ii). (3rd offence).
 
Dammosquito – Hampered shortly after start. Raced three wide throughout.
 
Ginasue – Had to be checked off the heels of Damosquito which was taken in by Mishani Patriot shortly after the start.
 
Race 7: TOWNSVILLE CUP SATURDAY 12 AUGUST BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Count Of Carford – Commenced to over race when the pace slowed between the 1200 metres and 1000 metres.
 
Tierra Del Fuego – Had to be steadied due to the slow pace in the early stages and then wanted to hang out and race ungenerously from the turn out of the back straight to the 500 meters which resulted in Jockey C Whiteley attempting for some distance to settle the gelding in a two wide position .
 
Prince Akeem – Making the home turn was held up and unable to improve.After obtaining clear running at the 150 metres Prince Akeem thenshifted out under pressure resulting in Test of War being steadied sharply after passing the winning post. Jockey L Morrison (Prince Akeem) was advised to exercise care in similar situations and stop riding and straighten her mounts.
 
Todwick – Slow into stride at the start.Raced three wide from the 1000 metres.
 
 
 
Race 8: 2YO CLASSIC SATURDAY 10 JUNE QTIS Three-Year-Old
Handicap 1000 metres
 
Go Getaboy – Began awkwardly. Shifted out at the 800 meters when racing ungenerously and forced King’s Halo out onto Miniest which was checked and then taken out onto the heels of Don't Tell Leeanne which also had to steadied. Go Getaboy continued to overrace in the middle stages.
 
Don't Tell Leeanne – Race three wide without cover throughout. Steadied momentarily at the 800 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near side hind leg and no lameness.
 
Miniest – Checked at the 800 metres and lost ground.
 
King's Halo – Cast an off-hind plate at the 400 meters. A post-race veterinary examination revealed King’sHalo to be lame in the off hind as a consequence of losing a small part of the off-hind hoof in this incident. The Veterinary surgeon treated the injury on course. Trainer S Massingham was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before the gelding races again.
 
Caramel Toffee – After making contact when exiting the parade ring gate, Caramel Toffee was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start. Was difficult to load and a warning was issued to connections. Slow to begin.
 
Race 9: NEXT RACE MEETING SATURDAY 15 APRIL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1000 metres
 
Making the home turn, the field passed over a small flock of four magpie geese that were crossing the track from the infield as the runners approached. No runner was inconvenienced in this incident.
 
Trinity Missile - Trainer Steven Royes advised that he intended to spell the gelding after the disappointing performance.
 
Inclusion – Jumped awkwardly.
 
Sheez Marvellous - Raced wide for the majority.
 
Little Red Pepper- Apprentice I Tehpleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7) (a) (ii) in that she used her whip in an excessive manner by striking the mare on 8 occasions prior to the 100 metres which is 3 more times than permitted. Apprentice I Teh was fined the sum of $300.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered Apprentice Teh’s previous record in relation to recent breaches of this rule.
 
October Storm- Commenced to overrace in the middle stages.
 
Tactical Illusion – Raced wide throughout.
