McKayJudge – S NosworthyVeterinarian – Dr. D. VieroSwab Attendants – A Lee, A ChallenStarter – J Cullen GENERAL Following an inspection at 10:00 a.m. the Track rating was upgraded to Good (4). Jockey C Spry was indisposed due to injury and was replaced on the following: Race 2 Caramel Toffee – R ShredRace 7 Forgiato (NZ) – App. K. Swaffer. A clearance medical certificate will be required before Jockey C Spry rides again. Stewards permitted the following declared overweights;R1 A. Layt +0.5kgR5 N. Day +1.0kgR7 D. Smith +1.0kg The following runners underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to having raced at Mackay on 11 April 2023 and were all passed fit to start; R2 Levalet, Mishani Platinum, Kingmate Race 1: CLUDEN PARK QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres Average Jane – Trainer G Holt was questioned regarding the scratching of the filly at 5.55 a.m. on 15 April 2023.Ms Holt provided evidence that the filly had suffered a fetlock injury that had not responded satisfactorily to treatment. Tanoshi - Trainer T Rowe was questioned regarding the scratching of the filly at 8.32 a.m. on 14 April 2023.Trainer Rowe advised that the filly had suffered a stone bruise causing lameness and was withdrawn accordingly. This Girl's Ready – Slow into stride. Race 2: BROWN BROTHERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1400 metres Caramel Toffee – Jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start over raced for some distance. Jockey R. Shred reported that in her opinion CARAMEL TOFFEE got its tongue over the bit and choked down in running. Connections advised that they would experiment with a gear change prior to the geldings next start. El Of A Senorita – Held up for clear running until the 200m. Levalet – Trainer J. Manzelmann was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting LEVALET to race without a tongue tie, which was its nominated gear. Noise Works – Hampered on jumping. Mishani Platinum – Raced wide throughout. Brushed by another runner at the 250m becoming unbalanced. Kingmate – Jumped awkwardly. Pocket Fugitive – Jumped outwards hampering NOISEWORKS. Slow into stride and shortly after the start commenced to over race for some distance. Ginasue – Shifted out to improve passing the 250m and brushed MISHANI PLATINUM which became unbalanced. Race 3: MITAVITE Class 6 Plate 1400 metres Ciao Bicky – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Finally Realise – Jumped awkwardly. Jockey L. Morrison lost a nearside stirrup iron near the 100m placing her at a disadvantage. Race 4: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES Maiden Plate 1200 metres Didn't Ask Me – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Harmonic Boom – Laid out in the early stages proving difficult to ride. Continued to hang out in the home straight and raced ungenerously over the concluding stages. Emathion – Blundered badly as the start was affected losing ground. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Mr Brown – Slow to begin. Risked It – Commenced to over race turning out of the back straight until the 800m. Tiny Mountain – Fractious in the mounting yard. Was resaddled behind the barriers. Trainer’s representative Mrs. B. Gordy was advised that a warning would be issued regarding the filly’s pre-race behaviour. Tycoon Baby – Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be issued due to the mare being difficult to load. Race 5: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1609 metres Edification – The tongue tie was readjusted behind the barriers causing a slight delay. Castile – Momentarily steadied when tightened for room at the 1200 metres. Ghosted – Slow to begin. Light Field – Slow into stride. Cogent (NZ) – Caught three wide and was ridden forward until crossing to a two wide position at the 1000m. Race 6: BFQ ACCOUNTANTS OPEN Handicap 1000 metres Desert Man – Raced three wide without cover. Palencia – Hampered at the start. Mischief Managed – Hampered at the start. Molongle Surprise – Slow to begin and then commenced to pull hard and overrace after obtaining a forward position in the middle stages. Dawn Too Good – Jumped out hampering PALENCIA and MISCHIEF MANAGED. Tempo (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly. Race 7: MITCHELL PARTNERS CONSULTING BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1000 metres Vienna Rain – Slow to begin. Hit Snooze – After being best to begin, the mare was unable to cross runners to the inside and raced three wide without cover for the event. Bay of Bengal – Raced three wide with cover. Razment – Slow to begin. Forgiato (NZ) – Held up momentarily at the400metresand was switched back to the rails to obtain clear running.Approaching the finishing line had to be steadied off the heels of SARANDOS. Stronach – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have torn away part of the hoof on the off foreleg and as such was displaying signs of lameness. Stronach was treated by the Club Veterinary Surgeon on course and Trainer Ms B Thomson was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before STRONACH races again.Bastille Day – Raced wide without cover. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to have suffered a bleeding attack during the race. Trainer N. Coves was advised that BASTILLE DAY will be stood down from racing for 3 months and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to starting in a race or trial again under the provisions of AR79(4)(a)(b) STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees FinesR2 – Trainer J.
