GENERAL
 
The track rating was upgraded at 12.02 p.m. to - Good 4.
 
 
Race 1: KLEIN TOOLS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1900 metres
 
Undoubted – Fractious in the barriers. .Jockey G Kliese on returning to scale reported minor bruising to his right leg sustained when he contacted the barrier partition on jumping.The brow band on the bridle dislodged at the 100 metres.
 
He Will Acheev – Blundered when the barriers opened.
 
Koonunga Hill – Raced three wide until the 100 metres.
 
Phoenix Flyer – Had to be checked abruptly off the heels of the tiring Undoubted at the 400 metres and shifted wider to obtain clear running.
 
Race 2: NHP QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
Emathion – Jumped outwards and collided heavily at the start with Mama’s Man.
 
Joe Mama (NZ) – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
Yamamoto – Hung in sharply at the 150 metres requiring Jockey S Sheargold to stop riding and straighten the gelding. Jockey Sheargold reported that Yamamoto raced greenly for much of the race.
 
Mama's Man - Collided heavily at the start with another runner and lost ground.

Patti 'N' Fay- Jockey R Wiggins was reminded of his obligations to fully ride his mount to the line.
 
Amber Rock – Slow into stride.
 
Mishani Platinum - Raced three wide throughout with no cover.
 
Race 3: OLEX CABLES Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Nonno Joe - Raced three wide without cover for majority of the race. Severely checked at the 400 metres due to another running shifting in. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination following the gelding kicking in the tie up stalls. No injury was identified.
 
Laide - Jumpedawkwardly and then raced three wide from the 1000 metres.
 
St Rose - Hampered at the 400 metres and had to abruptly shift wider consequently.
 
Sonofthebeast – At the request of Jockey J Taylor, Sonofthebeast was inspected behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.
 
Trajic Friends over-racing in middle stages.
Jockey L Morrison was found guilty guilty of a charge to careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that at the 400 metres she shifted back across the heels of Sonofthebeast (J Taylor) when not clear of Nonno Joe (W D’Avilla) resulting in Nonno Joe being severely checked.
Jockey L. Morrison’s  licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 15 June 2023 and expire midnight 28 June 2023.
In assessing penalty Stewards considered Jockey Morrison’s recent poor record in relation to breaches of AR131(a).
 
A Cheeky Gift was a late scratching at 2:52pm on veterinary advice when the filly reared in the barrier and became entangled. Trainer S Seymour was advised that he will be required to obtain a barrier certificate for A Cheeky Gift before the filly again races. Apprentice Jockey R Wilson (A Cheeky Gift) sustained bruising to her right leg in this barrier incident. All monies invested on A Cheeky Giftwere ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to the scratching were -:

2 cents in the dollar for 3rd place Royal Song
 
 
Another Dimension – Was fractious in the barriers andreared as gates opened, losing considerable ground. Trainer E Sewell was advised that he will be required to obtain a barrier certificate for Another Dimension before the filly can race again.
 
 
Race 4: PIERLITE BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Letmeletgo – Trainer J Wehlow was fined $100 in relation to failing to nominate Jockey J Stanley as the rider by the prescribed time. LR67 (1).
 
Light Field - Slow into stride.


Prince Akeem – Collided with Cat In The Raine when the start was effected.


Back When - Slow into stride
 
Old School – Raced wide throughout and over-raced in the middle stages.


Norah - Raced wide for majority.
 
Cat In The Raine – Jumped awkwardly and collided with Prince Akeem. Momentarily held up and unable to improve at the 400 metres.
 
Race 5: CLIPSAL SCHNEIDER BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000 metres
 
Miss Seattle - Slow to begin. Hampered at the 900 metres due to a tightening.
 
Just A Love Song - Cast a nearside hind plate at the 600 metres.
 
Smarty Lee - Slow to begin. Overraced at the 900 metres.
 
Starfilly – Raced wide.
 
Dusky Damsel - At the 900metres when steadied away from the heels of Xtrayya, shifted out and hampered Strathcona. Over-raced in the middle stages for some distance.
 
Cetshwayo  - Shifted in abruptly at the 900 metres and consequently Jockey R Wiggins had to stop riding and straighten his mount.
 
Cold Power – Raced wide throughout.Jockey Morgan Butler pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner by striking the gelding 18 times in totality. Jockey Morgan Butler licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of  7 days to commence commences midnight 17 June 2023 and ends midnight 24 June 23.
 
Pindarra's Dream- Jumped awkwardly and shifted in abruptly shortly after the start and clipped the heels of Strathcona. Pindarra's Dream blundered due to this incident and lost ground.
 
Strathcona - Reared as the gates open and lost ground. Hampered at the 900 metres when placed in restricted room.
 
 
Race 6: LAWRENCE & HANSON QTIS 2YO CLASSIC 1200 metres
 
 
Bush Diamond - Jockey J Stanley reported that the geldingover-raced in the middle stages.
 
Elie Joe - Over-raced passing the 1000metres. Hung out in the middle stages and raced ungenerously when in a three wide position.
 
Hey Bull - Collided with the The Wallet on jumping. Raced wide majority. Raced ungenerously in the straight for some distance.
 
Lucky Jim - Shifted in abruptly at 300 metres and consequently Craicaro had to be steadied momentarily.
 
Oovii - Approached the 900 metres, commenced to over-race and had to be steadied off the heels of  Shamedy which had shifted in marginally.
 
Shamedy – Shifted in at the 900 metres causing a tightening.
 
The Wallet  - Collided with Hey Bull on jumping. Commenced to race ungenerously from the 1000 metres and inclined to hang out thereafter.
 
Turn Bird - Jumped awkwardly , lost ground and raced wide for the majority.
 
Craicaro – Held up for clear running at the 400 metres.Steadied at the 300 metres when another runner shifted in.
 
Salika Diva - Wide for the majority.
