Layt +0.5 kg Race 5: C. Whiteley +1kg Race 1: LADBROKES MATES MODE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000M NOVEMBER RHYTHM – Hung out rounding the home turn. THREEBROTHERS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. HE CAN JAJA – Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and as a result was unable to be fully tested to the line. HEROIC HEIGHTS – Hampered on jumping when CHRISTMAS TIME shifted in. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. EXTRA FREE – Lost its offside front plate in running.FRESH START – Hampered on jumping by HEROIC HEIGHTS who was carried in by CHRISTMAS TIME. BOGAN PRINCESS – Stewards permitted jockey A. Spinks to ride 0.5kg overweight as there was no other suitable rider available. Jockey A. Spinks was reprimanded pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Slow to begin. CHRISTMAS TIME - Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection due to having raced at Home Hill on Friday the 17th of January and was passed fit to start. Shifted in on jumping resulting in HEROIC HEIGHTS and FRESH START being hampered. Raced wide for the majority. HEAD BEE - Raced wide with cover throughout. Race 2: VALE HOWARD ALFORD OPEN HANDICAP 1000M The start of this event was delayed 3 mins, owing to QAS personnel attending to a member of the Club’s staff. HELL OF A BOY – From the 300m until approaching the 200m, was disappointed for clear running. LIGHTHORSE LAD – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Race 3: MITAVITE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400M COUNTER COMMAND – Over raced during the early stages. In the vicinity of the 1100m, shifted in to gain cover when insufficiently clear of CLOUDY MISS resulting in that horse having to be checked.Also, as a result of this shift, MISS FUBULICIOUS who was racing forward of COUNTER COMMAND became momentarily unbalanced and was found to have lacerations to both hindlegs conducive to being galloped on.Jockey L. Morrison pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) that in the vicinity of the1100m she shifted her mount COUNTER COMMAND in when insufficiently clear of CLOUDY MISS forcing jockey A. Layt to check his mount and lose ground. Jockey L. Morrisons license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight the 28th of January and to expire midnight the 5th of February. Stewards took into account Jockey L. Morrisons good record and guilty plea when determining penalty. MAKE IT FLASHY – Slow to begin. Over raced early. DAWN STRIKE - underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection due to having raced at Home Hill on Friday the 17th of January 2024 and was passed fit to start. MISS FUBULICIOUS In the vicinity of the 1100m, became momentarily unbalanced when galloped on by COUNTER COMMAND who shifted in under riding. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have lacerations on both hindlegs. Trainer K. Russell was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. LENNY ROCKET - underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection due to having raced at Home Hill on Friday the 17th of January 2024 and was passed fit to start. CLOUDY MISS - underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection due to having raced at Home Hill on Friday the 17th of January 2024 and was passed fit to start. In the vicinity of the 1100m had to be checked to avoid the heels of COUNTER COMMAND who shifted in when insufficiently clear. Race 4: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M BONS OF STEEL – Slow into stride. RIVALON – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. ROTH 'N' BUBBLE – Over raced in the early stages. Inside the 100m was contacted for a number of strides by KAI COME who became unbalanced and shifted out as a consequence. KAI COME – Inside the 100m, became unbalanced and shifted out momentarily, making contact with ROTH ‘N’ BUBBLE for a number of strides. GABBY'S READY – Raced wide without cover throughout. VADER BANG YAHOO – Stood flat footed and as a result took no competitive part in todays event. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that the gelding would now be required to trial or jump out to the satisfaction of stewards prior to resuming. SHIHO – Over raced in the early stages. Race 5: 150 YEARS OF RACING @ CLUDEN PARK BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1609M SAVVY SOVEREIGN (NZ) – Over raced during the early stages of the event. LADY RAIN – Over raced during the early and middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running from the 300m until approaching the 100m.When asked to comment on the performance of the mare, Jockey L. Morrison stated that her mount over raced during the early stages of the event and failed to settle and as a result finished disappointingly. She also added that it was the mare’s first start over 1600m which may have contributed to its racing manners. ZOUHOPE – Laid out under pressure in the straight. CONQUERING JUDAS – Slow into stride. Race 6: MEMBERSHIPS ON SALE NOW RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1000M VICTORY FOR US - Inconvenienced on jumping away when BETTER DAYS AHEAD shifted in. Raced wide without cover for the majority. In the vicinity of the 450m, shifted in momentarily and contacted HYPOTHESIZE. Laid in under pressure in the straight. SARANDOS – Raced wide for the majority. STRATHCONA – Bumped with HYPOTHESIZE on jumping away. Jockey J. Taylor dropped his whip in the vicinity of the 100m. BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide for the majority. MARANZANO – Approaching the 200m was disappointed for a tight run between TENNAGAIN and MUTAFIQ, and again at the 100m when awkwardly placed on the heels of TENNAGAIN and as a result elected to shift to the outside to gain clear running. HYPOTHESIZE – Bumped with STRATHCONA on jumping away. Laid out over the concluding stages. Race 7: HYGAIN CLASS 6 PLATE 1300M BOOMED – Raced greenly in the home straight. TO LOVE SOMEBODY – Raced wide without cover over throughout. AIDENABET – Laid in under pressure in the straight. DEEL WITH ME - As jockey A. Butler was unable to ride the allocated weight, he was replaced by jockey A. Layt. Jockey A. Butler was fined $200 under the provisions of AR190(3). When questioned regarding the poor performance of DEEL WITH ME, Trainer T. Cook advised that he would apply to remove the blinkers next start as he believed they impacted the gelding’s performance today. MALVAGIO – Began awkwardly. Apprentice T. Townsend dropped her whip in the vicinity of the 200m. WANNA TWEET – Bounded on jumping, momentarily unbalancing its rider. Over raced during the early and middle stages of the event. Raced wide for the majority. Hung out making the home turn. Jockey C. Whiteley dropped his whip in the vicinity of the 100m. Race 8: LADBROKE IT! BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M HIT SNOOZE - Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection due to having raced at Home Hill on Friday the 17th of January and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Apprentice J. Edwards was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. THUNDER MOON – Bumped on jumping with BRINGYATICKET.
