GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
 
Race 4: 9. A. Thomson +1.0kg (55kg)
Race 5: 8. R. Wiggins +0.5kg (56.5kg)
Race 6: 7. A. Layt +0.5kg (54.5kg)
Race 8: 16. A. Thomson +1.0kg (55kg)
 
Following Race 4, jockey A. Thomson reported to the stewards that she was feeling the effects of dehydration and was stood down from her remaining engagements. Stewards permitted rider replacements as shown in the steward’s race day summary. Jockey A. Thomson was advised that she would require a medical certificate prior to riding again.
 
 
Race 1: LADBROKES BET TICKER QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M
 
FORGETABOUTIT – Began awkwardly then shifted out bumping heavily with MISHANI WOLF. Passing the 600 metres, shifted out in an attempt to improve around the heels of ITHINKBETTA and bumped with MR GRUMBLER.
 
OUSTER ORDER – Shifted in on jumping and bumped BETTER SHOW which became unbalanced.
 
MR GRUMBLER – Raced wide throughout. Bumped another runner passing the 600 metres.
 
HOLD MY HALO – Began awkwardly. Made the home turn awkwardly then raced greenly over the concluding stages.
 
BETTER SHOW – Bumped at the start and became unbalanced but recovered quickly. Inclined to over-race in the lead through the middle stages.
 
MISHANI WOLF – Bumped heavily at the start and got back as a result.
 
WICKEDLY ELEGANT – Suffered an injury during transport. The filly was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12:00pm on veterinary advice. Trainer M. Taylor was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to WICKEDLY ELEGANT next racing.
 
OUR SECRET AFFAIR – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 2: WRC TICKETS ON SALE SOON MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M
 
IT'S BEEN A TREK – Bumped with HUGHIE VUITTON after the start.
 
SPRING'S GIFT – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Jockey L. Morrison reported that the mare would be better suited over a shorter distance and had a tendency to hang in over the final 400 metres.
 
HUGHIE VUITTON – Shifted in after the start and bumped with IT’S BEEN A TREK.
 
MISS ORWELL – Shifted in at the start hampering WILD AFFAIR. Lost contact in the early stages and was unable to recover any significant ground. Trainer L. McCormack was advised the gelding’s nomination would be refused from TAB meetings until its form improves.
 
WILD AFFAIR – Slow to begin then hampered when MISS ORWELL shifted in. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
 
Race 3: LADBROKES MATES MODE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
 
 
KOBIE'S LUCK – Passing the 1000m, was placed in restricted room and had to steady when to the inside of WIN AND TONIC which was improving forward to the lead. Jockey A. Butler (WIN AND TONIC) was advised to exercise care when crossing in similar circumstances. Upon returning to scale, jockey C. Spry stated his saddle shifted shortly after the start placing the filly at a disadvantage.
 
KAI COME – Bumped heavily at the start and became unbalanced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
READY TO REASON – Shifted in abruptly after the start bumping heavily with KAI COME which was taken in onto ICE BOUND. Raced wide throughout.
 
ICE BOUND – Bumped heavily after the start and became unbalanced losing ground before being settled back in the field.
 
JAAKUNA – Passing the 200m, shied at RIVALON which shifted out.
 
RIVALON – Laid in shortly after leaving the barriers and bumped with MR DOLLAR. Passing the 200m shifted out when struck with the whip.
 
MR DOLLAR – Bumped after the start and became unbalanced. Lost contact in the early stages and was unable to recover any significant ground. Trainer L. McCormack was advised the gelding’s nomination would be refused from TAB meetings until its form improved.
 
 
Race 4: FAMILY RACEDAY SATURDAY 13 APRIL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1609 M
 
NEBARAZ – Slow into stride. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early part of the straight.
 
MEDAL (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
TAVISTEEL (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
MONASTERY – Raced three wide rounding the first turn.
 
JOE'S GIGGLE – Sustained a minor mouth lesion in the tie-up stalls. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Over-raced in the early and middle stages due to the moderate tempo.
 
MOOLOOLABA (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
CONQUERING JUDAS – Slow into stride. Over-raced due to the moderate tempo. Passing the 1300 metres, had to be steadied after RUN RAMPANT shifted out to and raced wide thereafter.
 
Race 5: LADBROKE IT! CLASS 6 PLATE 1400 M
 
DEMON AWARD – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn. When questioned on the performance, jockey C. Spry stated that the gelding was under pressure from the 500 metres and failed to finish the race off as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
SINGLE HONOR – Upon returning to scale, jockey S. Sheargold reported that after obtaining a position in the lead, the gelding had a tendency to lay out before being headed at the 1100 metres.
 
COOLMEANS (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
RAZMENT – Slow into stride. Passing the 250 metres, was taken across heels to obtain clear running.
 
SEALION – Raced wide throughout.
 
STARHATTAN – Held up rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 6: VALE JOHN LYONS OPEN HANDICAP 1000 M
 
BOLD TYPE – Began awkwardly.
 
AHWAHNEECHEE – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to race greenly in the home straight.
 
THATFEELSBETTER – Slow to begin.
 
Following the running of Race 6, the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
 
Race 7: HYGAIN CLASS 3 PLATE 1000 M
 
CROWNING MOMENT – Raced four wide throughout.
 
VILA TINTO – Shifted in on jumping hampering MAKE IT HAPPEN then raced greenly, shifting out, bumping with CHILLI JAM.
 
FREDDY BARBAROSSA – Hampered shortly after leaving the barriers.
 
HEADLANDER – Crowded and had to steady shortly after the start.
 
CHILLI JAM – Began awkwardly and hampered shortly after and was taken out onto PRIVATE SECTOR which was buffeted for several strides.
 
MAKE IT HAPPEN – Hampered on jumping. Held up rounding the home turn and failed to secure clear running until passing the 300 metres.
 
MISS HELMUT – Stewards permitted apprentice jockey T. Townsend to be the replacement rider for jockey A. Thomson as no other senior rider was available. Raced four wide throughout.   
 
WICKLOW LASS (NZ) – Over-raced through the middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn up to a point passing the 200 metres.
 
 
Race 8:NEXT RACE MEETING FRIDAY 22 MARCH BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
COUNT OF CARFORD – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
IMPOSING BEAU – Blundered badly on jumping then when recovering shifted out bumping with LIGHTHORSE LAD.
 
DOLLSON – Held up and unable to improve when rounding the home turn and failed to obtain clear running until the 250 metres.
 
LIGHTHORSE LAD – Hampered after the start.
 
NO LOVE LOST – Compounded abruptly passing the 500 metres and was not persevered with over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer B. Thomson was advised to notify stewards should anything become apparent over the coming days.
 
LET'S RIDE – Made the first turn awkwardly when racing greenly then raced wide thereafter.
 
ANOTHER DIMENSION – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
GINASUE – Stewards permitted jockey A. Spinks to be the replacement rider for jockey A. Thomson, with the mare ridden with the advertised overweight of 55.0kg.
