GENERAL
 
Rider Carl Spry did not attend the meeting due to illness, with a medical clearance being required prior to Mr Spry next riding. The replacements are as follows:

Race 1: Winter Carnival Tickets On Sale now QTIS Two-Years-Old
Handicap 1000 metres
 
Rider Nathan Thomas (COACHMAN) was dislodged in the enclosure when attempting to mount the gelding, however was uninjured and cleared to ride.
HAND GRENADE – began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with BETTER SHOW.
BETTER SHOW – began awkwardly and shifted in bumping with HAND GRENADE.
MISSYPIE – slow to begin.
COACHMAN – jumped awkwardly and settled back.
 
Race 2: Mitavite QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 1000 metres
 
I'M PINKER – travelled wide with cover throughout.
HARTSHORN – travelled 3-wide without cover on the pace throughout.
CALM IS POWER – began awkwardly then shifted out becoming awkwardly placed near the heels of WIN AND TONIC, having to steady.
ROTH 'N' BUBBLE – jumped away awkwardly; raced wide with cover throughout.
 
Race 3: Brown Brothers QTIS Two-Years-Old and Three-Years-Old
Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
BLUE TOES (NZ) – jumped in at the start and tightened BOOGIEWITHMAHBABY; shifted out under pressure over the final 200 metres; post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from shin soreness – veterinary clearance required.
CARE TAKER – jumped out at the start crowding UNDERRATED out onto SNEAKY FREDDY which was buffeted for a short distance.
MR GRUMBLER – began awkwardly and lost ground.
SNEAKY FREDDY – buffeted for several strides shortly after the start; travelled 3-wide without cover throughout.
UNDERRATED – crowded wider at the start.
HARDTOCRACK – travelled 3-wide with cover.
ARTURETTA – travelled wide throughout.
BOOGIEWITHMAHBABY – slow into stride then hampered when BLUE TOES shifted in on jumping; checked near the 900 metres and lost ground.
Stewards inquired into an incident near the 900 metres where BOOGIEWITHMAHBABY had to check when racing inside HARDTOCRACK. After questioning Apprentice Malea Castle BOOGIEWITHMAHBABY, Scott Sheargold (MR GRUMBLER) and Lacey Morrison (HARDTOCRACK) it was established that HARDTOCRACK, which was racing three wide elected to shift inward passing the 950 metres, when clear, to obtain a position closer in, however shortly after MR GRUMBLER improved inside the heels of HARDTOCRACK, when over-racing, and became awkwardly placed to that runners inside, resulting in BOOGIEWITHMAHBABY being crowded and compelled to check. Given all circumstances, including the point of the race the interference occurred, the limited assistance of vision available, and all other relevant factors the Stewards could not be satisfied to the requisite standard that Ms Morrison was primarily culpable, and no action was taken with respect to the matter.
 
Race 4: Hygain Maiden Handicap 1609 metres
 
DEER HUNTER – hampered at the start.
TWENTY THREE WALL – raced greenly in the final straight withy rider Denicious Smith changing whip hands in an attempt to correct the geldings running line.
LORD OF PENNO – jumped out at the start and hampered DEAR HUNTER.
KAISA – bounded shortly after the start and lost ground; raced fiercely passing the 1,000 metres.
SIRENE ROUGE – dislodged rider Graham Kliese on two occasions en-route to the barriers – warning placed on racing manners; over-raced in the early stages; weakened from the 600 metres and finished well back. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
 
Race 5: Ladbroke It! BM70 Handicap 1609 metres
 
MISS SEATTLE – gave ground over the final stages and finished well back – a post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
NEVER CRY – over-raced through the middle stages.
ZOUHOPE – slow into stride.
CHOQUANT NZ – over-raced in the lead throughout.
 
Race 6: Ladbrokes Mates Mode BM65 Handicap 1000 metres
 
ARTIE'S LAD – crowded shortly after leaving the barriers: over-raced through the middle stages: returned to the enclosure with blood present in both nostrils – a post-race veterinary examination determined the gelding to have bled. As this was the second occasion ARTIES LAD had bled, pursuant to AR79(6), it is now ineligible to start in any race.  
 
SINGLE MEMO – shifted ground in shortly after leaving the barriers – rider Justin Stanley was firmly reminded of his obligations when shifting ground; inclined to lay out under pressure in the final straight.
STORMY LEGEND – slow to begin; over-raced through the early and middle stages; held up passing the 400 metres until near the 200 metres.
ARCHIE'S LAW – crowded shortly after leaving the barriers.
CAVENTE – travelled 3-wide throughout.
WANNA TWEET – blundered on jumping and lost ground.
ZORAYDAH – slow into stride.
 
Race 7: Ladbrokes OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
FULL RECOGNITION – slow into stride.
GO GETABOY – hampered at the start; travelled 3-wide throughout.
CAPTAIN BOND – proved difficult to load. Trainer Mr Leslie Gordy sought permission for CAPTAIN BOND to travel to the barriers early at its next start and then attempt to be loaded prior to the other runners. Given all circumstances this request was approved.
DEMON AWARD – jumped inwards at the start hampering GO GETABOY.
GULF OF LION – slow into stride.
NORTHERN PRIDE – blundered on jumping.
 
Race 8: Great Northern Brewing Co BM60 Handicap 1400 metres
 
UNDER THE LIMIT – bumped at the start; raced wide rounding the final turn; improved onto heels near the 1200 metres and shifted out bumping with SIR MAXIMUS which was crowded wider.
SPIRIT MEISTER – bumped near the 1,000 metres and became unbalanced; travelled wide throughout.
DARK ARCHER – jumped in at the start and bumped with LAST ROYAL which in turn shifted in and brushed with UNDER THE LIMIT: travelled wide throughout.
LISTEN TO MAURICE – made the first awkwardly and shifted out bumping with SPIRIT MEISTER.
EDIFICATION – slow into stride.
VICTORY FOR US – contacted LAST ROYAL near the 250 metres when attempting to obtain clear running.  
LAST ROYAL – bumped at the start; held up and had difficulty finding clear racing room for the majority of the final straight; contacted VICTORY FOR US near the 250 metres – investigation adjourned.
SIR MAXIMUS – crowded wider near the 1,200 metres.
MAJESTIC WINGS – shifted out under hard riding over the concluding stages hampering LAST ROYAL. Rider Pietro Romeo was reprimanded under AR131a for shifting ground.
 
Stewards adjourned an investigation to Sunday 7th July 2024 into VICTORY FALLS and LAST ROYAL making contact near the 250 metres.
