GriffithsStewards – R. Neal, P. Gillard, J. McIntosh, S. Nosworthy (Cadet) GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweights:Race 2. A. Thomson +1.0kgRace 3. G. Kliese +1.0kgRace 8. N. Day +0.5kg 1. Upon arrival at the track rider Ryan Wiggins advised that he would be unable to make the weight for his ride in Race 1 (CASCIA). Jockey Wiggins admitted a resultant breach of AR190(3) and after consideration of all circumstances, including Jockey Wiggins’ recent record, the Stewards imposed a $200.00 fine. Jockey Wiggins was replaced by Scott Sheargold.2. Track was upgraded to a Good 4 prior to Race 1 at 11:30am.3. A veterinary clearance was provided for YOU ARE KING. Race 1: LADBROKES OWN SPRING QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1000 M SATISFIED MUGS – Raced keenly in the middle stages. BANG STICK – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. GOLD CLASSIC – Raced greenly over the concluding stages. MR OREO – Delayed the start after dislodging rider J. Murphy when enroute to the barriers. After travelling some distance, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after arriving at the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 1:05pm on veterinary advice. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on MR OREO be refunded with the following deductions to apply- 1st SATISFIED MUGS– 0 cents the win, 2 cents the place2nd GOLD CLASSIC – 4 cents the place CASCIA – Began awkwardly. ROYAL PROPHECY – Began awkwardly. Race 2: A. GABRIELLI CONSTRUCTIONS - FESTIVE SEASON MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300 M BUBBLES'N'FROTH – Over-raced in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. FAITH OVER FEAR – After putting its hind leg up on the partition, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. ELIZABETHAN – As Jockey A. Thomson was delayed arriving on course due to transport difficulties, she was replaced by D. Smith. Slow into stride. Race 3: A. GABRIELLI CONSTRUCTIONS TOWNSVILLE AMATEUR CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1609 M TURBEAU – Following the race, Trainer S. Massingham advised stewards that it is his intention that the gelding be sent for a spell. THE DRILLER – Taken in by HIGHER LOVE passing the 150 metres. MEDAL (NZ) – Inclined to lay out for a short distance passing the 500 metres. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn before taking a run to the inside of TAVISTEEL. HIGHER LOVE – Shifted in passing the 200 metres taking THE DRILLER onto WISE DRAGON which was crowded momentarily. Jockey G. Kliese was reminded of his obligations when in similar circumstances. WISE DRAGON – Raced wide rounding the first corner. Crowded for room passing the 150 metres. Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1000 M Correct weight was delayed allowing the connections for 2nd placegetter OBLIGATED to view the patrol footage from the final 50 metres to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge a protest against 1st placegetter HEAD HONCHO. After viewing the footage, they declined to proceed and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers. HEAD HONCHO – Jumped in at the start and bumped COSMIC ATOM. Inclined to lay out in the middle stages. Raced three-wide throughout. Put in an awkward stride approaching the winning post and shifted out abruptly. TIME TO PROPHET – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn up to a point passing the 100 metres. When questioned on the performance, Jockey A. Butler stated that TIME TO PROHPET got extremely worked up before the race, and after beginning awkwardly and settling further back than intended, the filly had difficulty obtaining clear racing room over the concluding stages. OBLIGATED – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. FRASER’S RIDGE – Hung in over the concluding stages. Bumped by SMART MISSION passing the 50 metres. SMART MISSION – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn up to a point passing the 100 metres. Bumped with FRASER’S RIDGE passing the 50 metres. COSMIC ATOM – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages providing difficulty for its rider. I'LLTELLYOUSO – Held up for clear running throughout the final straight and was unable to be tested. HAND GRENADE – Raced wide with cover throughout. ITHINKBETTA – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 5: A. GABRIELLI CONSTRUCTIONS - WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400 M SPECIALTIE – Shifted in on jumping bumping heavily with ELLEVES which was taken in onto RUGGED ROY. YOU ARE KING – Raced wide with cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. STRATHCONA – Raced three-wide with cover throughout. ELLEVES – Bumped heavily on jumping when SPECIALTIE shifted in. Held up for clear racing from the 200 metres until leaving the 100 metres. RUGGED ROY – Bumped on jumping. Race 6: A. GABRIELLI CONSTRUCTIONS TOWNSVILLE AMATEUR SPRINT OPEN HANDICAP 1200 M BATTLE CRY – Dipped on jumping and was slow to begin. BRAD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. JEMELDI – Began only fairly. Commenced to over-race passing the 1000 metres. Raced wide without cover throughout. When questioned on the performance, Apprentice Jockey G. Semmens stated that her instructions were to be positive and to ride the horse close to the speed. Jockey Semmens stated that after beginning fairly, JEMELDI was caught in a three-wide position and she advised that she elected to allow the gelding to stride forward however was under pressure rounding the home turn and failed in her opinion to run out the 1200 metres. MISS SEATTLE – Slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed on heels passing the 1000 metres when the pace slackened, having to be checked. LADY RAIN – Had to be steadied when the pace slackened passing the 800 metres. Race 7: ANGELO GABRIELLI MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 HANDICAP 1200 M CANDLELIT – Held up from rounding the turn before shifting across the heels of TALONS passing the 200 metres. LIDDER VALLEY – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. VIBURNUM – Bumped on jumping. TO LOVE SOMEBODY – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Jockey R. Wilson dropped her whip passing the 200 metres. TOW THE LINE – Steadied shortly after the start when racing in restricted room. SAVEE – Began very awkwardly then shifted in bumping VIBURNUM. Race 8: A. GABRIELLI CONSTRUCTIONS - THAT'S A WRAP BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 M COLD POWER – Raced wide throughout. MUTAFIQ – Shifted out to improve passing the 200 metres inconveniencing FLYING ARTIST. BORNEO – Raced wide throughout. Severely checked passing the 150 metres when ULTIMATE shifted out. ULTIMATE – Jumped out at the start bumping with ROTH ‘N’ BUBBLE. Held up from rounding the home turn up to a point passing the 200 metres, having to be steadied away from the heels of MUTAFIQ at this point. Jockey G. Kliese pleaded guilty to a charge of AR131(a) (careless riding), with the particulars being that passing the 150 metres, he permitted ULTIMATE to shift out when not clear, severely checking COPPABELLA ROAD, which was taken onto READ ‘EM AND WEEP, with WICKLOW LASS and BORNEO also being severely checked in this incident. After consideration of penalty Jockey Kliese’s licence to ride in races was suspended from the conclusion of racing today (17th November), up to and including racing on Monday 2nd December 2024 (15 days). COPPABELLA ROAD – Severely checked by ULTIMATE passing the 150 metres. READ 'EM AND WEEP – Raced wide throughout. Severely checked passing the 150 metres. WICKLOW LASS (NZ) – Shifted in at the start tightening ROTH ‘N’ BUBBLE. Raced wide throughout. Severely checked passing the 150 metres. SHE'S REWARDING – Improved onto heels passing the 300 metres and was checked. ROTH 'N' BUBBLE – Tightened for room at the start. FLYING ARTIST – Raced wide throughout.
