QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TWIN HILLS RACING CLUB – SATURDAY, 27 September 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (dirt)RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. Scharf RACE 1: BURNETT CARRYING MAIDEN PLATE - 800m LAST SPIN – Hampered on jumping away. MILITARY GHOST – Jumped away awkwardly. PAPER TALK – Hung out throughout the event. SAHARA MISS – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Rider reported that he became concerned with the action of SAHARA MISS on entering the home straight and as such elected to not place the mare under pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed SAHARA MISS to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next start. SOME FAIRY SONG – Jumped away awkwardly. TELLMAY – Rider reported that her mount felt awkward in its action when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed TELLMAY to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer T Kenny was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next start. RACE 2: ROBERT O’SULLIVAN FAMILY CLASS B HANDICAP - 800m MISS SMINKER – Stewards gave permission to M Milford to ride MISS SMINKER 1.5kg over its handicapped weight. M Milford was reprimanded. Slow to begin. Rider reported that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the race and in his opinion failed to handle the firm dirt track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. OTTO’S BROTHER – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight. RACE 3: BULLIWALAH OPEN HANDICAP - 1100m DOUBLE EM – Approaching the winning post was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of STYLISH SON which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey B Richardson (STYLISH SON) was reprimanded and reminded to stop and straighten her mounts when they shift ground in future. STYLISH SON – Hung in throughout the event. RACE 4: DISNEY STEAKS QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HADICAP - 1100m THE ABYSS (NZ) – Slow to begin. METEOR’S MAN _ Slow to begin. ZLOTO – Overraced in the early and middle stages. RACE 5: MT DOUGLAS LADIES BRACKLET BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP- 1300m DEJA DOOM – Slow to begin. Rider reported that after being slow to begin his mount resented racing in the kick back and may not have handled the dirt track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. SATURN OPS – Slow into stride. Rider reported that in her opinion SATURN OPS did not handle the dirt surface and resented the kick back. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
