Race 1: CLONMELL BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (800M)
FLAMING ASTEROID – began awkwardly and raced wide throughout.
ZAPLUCK – approaching the 600 metres was laying out then dipped and put in awkward strides for some distance.
WILD CHILD – began awkwardly as a result was slow into stride and raced wide throughout.
Race 2: CLERMONT CONCRETE / BETAPOLY QTIS Maiden Plate (1100m)
ANCIENT STYLE – was declared a late scratching at 2.08pm by stewards acting on veterinary advice after failing a veterinary inspection at the barriers. ANCIENT STYLE was found to be lame in the near foreleg, Trainer T Kenny was advised he must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness before racing again. Stewards all monies invested on ANCIENT STYLE to be refunded and declared the following deductions were to occur, 10 cents for all win bets and 10 cents for all place bets.
MISHANI CAPTIVE – raced wide throughout.
SLICK SHOOTER – rider had difficulty taking the turn after the finish line.
BOOM RAPTURE – rider reported her saddle slipped near the 100 metres making it difficult to ride her mount out over the final 100 metres.
KARAKAROO – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Mackay on Tuesday 19th September and was cleared to start.
MISHANI TYCOON – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Mackay on Tuesday 19th September and was cleared to start. Was tightened for room over the final 100 metres when trying to take a tight run to the inside of BOOM RAPTURE. Apprentice Gemma Hogg was admonished by Stewards for trying to take the run on the inside instead of switching to the outside of BOOM RAPTURE.
Race 3: BUNDABAROO / NOEL O’SULLIVAN / COOVIN CUP BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1100m)
LIFETIME QUEST – raced extremely wide around the home turn.
ROCKETORO – began awkwardly and raced extremely wide around the home turn.
TUPELAWARA – jumped out at the start and raced wide throughout.
TEST OF WAR – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing the previous day and was cleared to start. After winning the previous day was penalised 1.5kg for today’s race. Began awkwardly.
Race 4: EPPING FOREST / BENTLEYS TWIN HILLS CUP BENCHMARK OPEN Handicap (1300m)
GRAND DE LAGO – slow to begin and lay in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 5: BRAVUS / APIAM CLERMONT VET SURGERY Class B Handicap (1300m)
LEVALET – was bumped heavily by SCARLET DESIRE coming around the home turn. Apprentice jockey Gemma Hogg pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR131(c) for making a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line, apprentice Hogg was fined $100. In determining an appropriate penalty Stewards were mindful it was apprentice Hogg’s second day of riding, but also had to consider that by standing up and celebrating she then had difficulty in steering her mount around the turn after the finish line.
SCARLET DESIRE – became unbalanced coming around the home turn and shifted and bumped heavily with LEVALET.
SHESABOMB – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing the previous day and was cleared to start. Slow to begin and failed to show any early speed.
STILLWATER – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Mackay on Tuesday 19th September and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
