QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TWIN HILLS RACE CLUB SATURDAY 21st SEPTEMBER 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Dirt RAIL – True. PENETROMETER – N/A OFFICIALS STEWARDS PANEL; R Neal (Chair) GENERAL 1. Given the tight and turning nature of the Twin Hills track, latitude was shown with respect to the racing performances of runners competing today. 2. All runners competing today which raced on the first day of the meeting (Friday 20th September 2024), were assessed by the club’s veterinarian prior to their engagements and passed fit to run. Race 1: CLONMELL RATINGS BAND 0 – 50 HANDICAP 800 M CERARED – travelled wide throughout.HOLLYWOOD DREAMING – slow into stride.KARAKAROO – began awkwardly; Apprentice Isabel Jessop reported that the gelding had resented the kick-back after getting back in the field, and in consequence had failed to let down. Race 2: CLERMONT CONCRETE QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1,100 M ARACELI – underwent pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to run having competed the previous day; when questioned regarding the run of ARACELI rider Ms. Emma Bell reported that after travelling fairly in the running the mare had failed to respond, and in her opinion had not backed up from racing yesterday. FAIRYBOWER FLYER – underwent pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to run having competed the previous day; ran wide rounding the final turn, then inclined to lay in over the final 200 metres.MARKERINK – underwent pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to run having competed the previous day; began very awkwardly and lost momentum settling well back – given all circumstances a warning was placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Race 3: COOVIN / BUNDABAROO / NOEL O’SULLIVAN MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 HANDICAP 1,100 M INVICTUS LAD – contacted the heels of TERMINUS near the 700 metres and blundered. After questioning riders, it was established that when attempting to push forward INVICTUS LAD had contacted heels, simultaneous to the tempo of the race steadying. Given all circumstances no further action was required. CLOGS – travelled wide throughout; raced in restricted room over the final 200 metres.JUST FRANK - underwent pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to run having competed the previous day.ABLETT – slow into stride and got back, then raced wide for the remainder.FLAMING HOMER –went off-stride near the 300 metres with rider Apprentice Olivia Kendal not persevering with her riding out thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Trainer Mr Tim Cook undertook to report any relevant matter should it become apparent in coming days. Mr Cook added that FLAMING HOMER would now be spelled.TERMINUS - underwent pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to run having competed the previous day.BITTERGREYMAGIC - underwent pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to run having competed the previous day.REVVED UP READY – rider Jason Hoopert reported that the bit on the gelding had become displaced early in the race placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder. Race 4: EPPING FOREST / BENTLEYS TWIN HILLS CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1,470 M GRAND DE LAGO – travelled wide rounding the first turn.VICTORY BAY – began awkwardly and got back; ran wide rounding the final turn.REFORMIST – shifted in near the 800 metres crowding DIASONIC which had to steady. Rider Shane McGovern was severely reprimanded under AR131a and advised that with the difficulties being experienced today with vision he must ensure he takes the requisite care in all circumstances when shifting ground.DIASONIC – crowded and lost ground near the 800 metres when inside REFORMIST which shifted in; ran wide rounding the final turn.DEEL WITH ME – lost contact in the middle stages and was not persevered with thereafter. Apprentice Shae Nielson reported that the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit during the running. Ms Nielson added that once back in the field DEEL WITH ME has been uncomfortable racing through the kick-back. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. The all-clear was delayed after Ms Erin Molloy, rider of the 4th placed DIASONIC wished to consider a protest against 3rd placed REFORMIST, however after consulting trainer Mr Lachie Manzelmann elected not to proceed. Race 5: BRAVUS / APIAM CLERMONT VET SURGERY CLASS B HANDICAP 1470 M ABSOLVE – was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1:05pm, after being found to be displaying lameness in the near-foreleg leg upon arrival at the track. Trainer Mr Richard Hay was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next racing.MISHANI TYCOON – gave ground over the latter stages and finished well back; the gelding lost its near-side front plate early in the running.
