GENERAL

As T. Williams was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: ALISCO DESIGNS RATINGS BAND 0-60 H'CAP – 870M

Trainer G. Richardson was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for MOLLARA by the prescribed time.

As apprentice J. Oliver failed to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement, apprentice B. Newport was substituted as the rider of WHATEVER MISS. Apprentice J. Oliver was fined $100 for failing to fulfil his engagement.

HIZOU – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

COUNT KAWANA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer J. Phillips was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to it being permitted to race again. Mr Phillips advised that he would notify Stewards in coming days of his intentions regarding the horse’s current racing preparation.

JEPTOO – Slow to begin. Hung out throughout.

WHATEVER MISS – Apprentice B. Newport was fined $200 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

MOLLARA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Apprentice T. Brooker pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 137A in that she used the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m and in consecutive strides and was fined $400. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account apprentice Brooker’s poor record in relation to this rule.

Race 2: DAN FLOHR MECHANICAL CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1300M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed following advice from the Judge that the photo finish image was of insufficient quality to allow a definite determination to be made between BAY RUST (R. Goltz) and QUEEN OF THE ARK (J. Oliver) for 1st placing. After inspecting the image in question, acting on their own observations of available video footage of the finish, and after consultation with the riders and connections of both horses, Stewards determined that a dead heat be declared for 1st, with the remaining placings as semaphored by the Judge, and correct weight was duly declared.

REAL EGO – Apprentice L. Attard was reprimanded under AR. 137A for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account that this was apprentice Attard’s first breach of this rule.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed following advice from the Judge that the photo finish image was of insufficient quality to allow a definite determination to be made between ROSADOR (L. Attard) and CORDON ROUGE (J. Oliver) for 2nd placing. After inspecting the image in question, acting on their own observations of available video footage of the finish, and after consultation with the riders and connections of both horses, Stewards determined that a dead heat be declared for 2nd, with the remaining placings as semaphored by the Judge, and correct weight was duly declared.
